Chapter 3
He pointed at me, his eyes bloodshot with rage.
“She likes snow so much? Go shovel more snow over here and bury her with it!”
Kai’s words froze the entire mountain.
All his followers stopped, their shovels suddenly feeling heavy in their hands.
Mason, Kai’s closest friend, hesitated before speaking up:
“Bro, she just had surgery. If we bury her like this, she could actually die. How about we…”
Before he finished speaking, Scarlett went limp in Kai’s arms with a soft whimper.
“Kai, forget it. I’m so dizzy… don’t punish her anymore because of me.”
As she spoke, her eyes flicked over to me with barely concealed triumph.
Sure enough, the last trace of hesitation in Kai’s eyes instantly froze over.
He scooped Scarlett up in his arms and barked impatiently:
“Do what I said! She won’t die! If anything happens, I’ll take the heat!”
“I’ll take the heat.”
It was like a death sentence.
The guys stopped hesitating.
They grabbed me and threw me into the snow pit like I was a piece of garbage.
The freezing snow instantly swallowed me whole, cutting through every inch of my skin.
Warm blood gushed down my inner thighs.
Snow kept getting shoveled on top of me–heavy, cold, suffocating.
As consciousness began to fade, all I could see was bright red blood spreading out from underneath me, staining the white snow.
I used the last of my strength to scream at that retreating figure.
“Kai! For this woman, you’re willing to kill your own child!”
“You’re going to regret this! My brother will never let you get away with this!”
My voice shattered in the wind like a desperate curse.
Before Kai could respond, Scarlett stepped forward, gently stroking his back while looking at me with wounded accusation.
“If you don’t want to apologize, fine, but why torture Kal like this?”
“You know how much he suffered when your brother Dante was around.”
“Now that Dante’s gone and the Romano family is hankrupt, what’s the point of this whole act?”
Then she took Kai’s hand and said softly:

Chapter 3
“Just let it go, Kai. Let her out, or we really will be the bad guys here. I can tell she’s never respected us anyway…”
Her words made the fury in Kat’s eyes burn even brighter.
He cursed under his breath and shouted at his crew: “Keep burying her! Just leave her head out!”
Just then, Mason’s phone rang sharply.
He answered, and his face went white as a sheet.
He rushed to Kai’s side, lowering his voice, but I could hear the tremor: “Bro, just got word–Romano family capital just entered that North District land deal.”
“The Romano family?”
Kai looked like he’d heard the joke of the century. He spun around, his face twisted with rage and contempt.
He walked over to me step by step, looking down at me buried in the snow.
“The Romano family went bankrupt six months ago! Gianna, you still think you can scare me with that coward Dante?”
He lifted his foot and stomped hard on the snow pile beside me.
The snow compressed, squeezing my chest so tight I could barely breathe.
“Pack that snow down tight! Let’s see what’s harder–her bones or this mountain ice!”
“If she doesn’t apologize to me and Scarlett, she’s not getting out of that snow pile!”
