Chapter 56
“You need to cover your eyes with this.”
Percy snickered as he complied. “Okay. Done. What’s next?”
“Stay here for a few more minutes,” Rohan whispered in Percy’s right ear. “We will be right back.”
Percy wanted to protest, but he suppressed the temptation and did as he was told. After several moments, he could smell Diego’s and Rohan’s unique scents. He couldn’t deny he was more than a little apprehensive as the two alphas slowly guided him out of the car. He was thrilled when the soft sound of the crashing waves grew louder. He could also detect the sinking sensation as he walked across the sandy beach. Then there was the salty odor from the sea before his mouth watered at the delicious aroma of what he presumed had to be cheese and some other food. He was also surprised by the scent of lavender. He didn’t think there would be any lavender on or close to the beach, especially since the weather was growing cooler. It was almost winter, after all.
“On the count of three, Rohan will take off your blindfold,” Diego muttered next to Percy’s ear. Percy’s heartbeat increased. “One, two, three.”
Percy held his breath for a few seconds, and he could feel Rohan’s fingers on the back of his head. Then he blinked repeatedly as he stared at the sight that greeted him once the cloth had been removed. There were multiple glass vases that contained purple candles. The vases were arranged in the shape of an enormous heart in the sand. The glow from the candles made everything look so ethereal. Percy now understood the source of the lavender scent.
In the center of the heart was a picnic blanket with two boxes of pizza, a basket of garlic bread, some fried chicken wings, and a bowl of pasta. There were also two bottles of red wine, three wine glasses, plates, and various utensils. Diego and Rohan grabbed Percy’s hands and guided him to the mat. Percy was still too flabbergasted to speak. He knew he should say something, but his words died in his throat. He was even more stunned when Diego presented him with a bouquet of purple roses while Rohan offered him a box of chocolates. He was amused when he noticed the picture on the box showed various purple-colored chocolates.
“Wow!” Percy exclaimed before gazing into Diego’s eyes. “How long did it take you to find these purple roses and chocolates? They aren’t exactly common.”
Diego chortled. “A few hours. I’d almost given up on finding the purple chocolates when I finally found them in a specialty store downtown, and right next door, I managed to purchase the last bouquet of purple roses. Rohan didn’t come with me because you might have gotten suspicious if we were both absent from the café at the same time, and he needed to be there to distract you.”
“Thank you both. This is amazing and really romantic.”
“You’re welcome,” Rohan responded. “We know you’ve always wanted a romantic proposal before you will ever consider mating with anyone.”
Percy was astonished to hear that. “How did you—”
“Greg and Ash,” Rohan and Diego answered almost simultaneously.
Percy chuckled. “Damn it! Greg and Ash have got big mouths. I shouldn’t have let you meet them.”
Diego grinned. “Too late for that. Besides, I was already friends with them through Jason before you, Rohan, and I met.”
“I’m thankful they’re like that,” Diego interjected. “Otherwise, we might not have known about one of your heart’s greatest desires.”
Percy could feel his cheeks heating up through a mixture of pleasure and shyness. Rohan poured wine into the three glasses before passing two of them to Diego and Percy. The three of them clinked their glasses before taking sips. Percy felt a little better thanks to the alcohol. The three of them began to enjoy the food as they chatted about the success of the café, Percy’s decision to take a break from the entertainment industry for the next two to three years now that his contract had ended, and several other topics.
The wine and the food were delicious, and the conversation was great, but Percy’s favorite part of the evening came after they had cleared everything away and were lying on the blanket and admiring the twinkling stars in the sky. The view was beautiful, but nothing beat the sensation of being cocooned in the center of two incredible alphas, and Percy enjoyed every second of it. He had no idea how much time had passed when he was reminded of something Rohan had mentioned earlier.
“Are you two serious about your intentions?”
Rohan turned sideways and raised himself slightly while balancing on his arm. “What intentions?”
“To propose to me,” Percy replied. “Isn’t that what this date is all about?”
Diego sat up. “Yes to both of your questions.”
Percy darted his eyes back and forth between the two alphas. He was nervous, but he knew deep in his heart he’d been ready to bond with both alphas for a while. Rohan and Diego had been nothing but tender and loving toward him and each other. Most importantly, Percy was absolutely sure all three of them truly cared for and loved one another very much. He gulped and nodded a few times as he gathered sufficient courage to take the next step.
