Chapter 55

“What did you do that for?” Rohan asked while glaring at Diego.

“To save the poor counter from being continually abused by you.”

“It’s dirty.”

Diego snorted. “It’s clean. Just look at it.”

Rohan peeked at the counter before folding his arms across his chest. “All right. What do you want?”

“Your opinion.”

“Huh?”

Diego ignored the bewildered expression on Rohan’s face. “What do you think about our relationship?”

Rohan scratched the back of his head. “The relationship among the three of us?”

Diego rolled his eyes.. “No. The one that involves that donkey, the llama, and the little pony.”

Rohan’s frown grew more intense. “I can do without your sarcasm, babe.”

“Then stop being so obtuse, and yes, I was referring to our relationship. You, Percy, and me.”

Rohan didn’t show any emotions, but his joy and contentment were still obvious through his scent. “It’s wonderful.”

“I think so, too.”

“What’s your point?”

“Do you think we should move on to step three now?”

“What’s step three again?” Rohan asked, looking confused. “It’s been a while since we had that conversation. I only remember the first step is to give Percy something that will please him enough so he would let us take him on dates. Which is step two.”

“That’s right. Now that we know Percy a lot better than we used to, we can move to step three, which is to present him with a gift that’s more thoughtful and meaningful. We have to combine that with a grand gesture to impress him even more. After that, the final step is to seal the deal.”

“Better make sure the gift in the third step isn’t anything too complicated. I don’t have to remind you how badly we failed when we tried to cook breakfast for him, do I?”

Diego snorted. “I’m doing my best to wipe away that shameful memory. Let’s not bring it up again. We need to concentrate on the third step, and I think I have the perfect idea, but we have to work together.”

Rohan nodded. “I’m all ears.”

Diego grinned widely before leaning in close to Rohan’s ear and sharing his idea with his boyfriend. He was glad when Rohan seemed to be just as excited as he was. If it was successful, he, Rohan, and Percy might end up being mated to one another by the end of that evening.

“Where’s Diego?” Percy asked Rohan as he helped to tidy up the café. “And why are we closing early? It’s not even seven o’clock yet.”

“I know,” Rohan answered. “But we’ve sold out all of the pastries and sandwiches, and we don’t want you to bother making more. We’ll be closing in another hour.”

“You’re right,” Percy agreed, glancing around to make sure everything was neat and clean. “I just feel bad for the last two customers who came in together. They obviously wanted to borrow some of our books and get something to drink before relaxing on one of the couches until closing time.”

“I apologized and told them we were out of everything and asked them to come back tomorrow. Besides, they got the chance to take plenty of photographs with you. You even gave them your autograph. They certainly looked and smelled delighted when they left.”

Percy smiled. “True.”

The two of them finished clearing up. Percy was surprised when, instead of finding Diego’s car in the parking space in front of the café, he saw a totally different vehicle. He was still looking at the car when he felt Rohan wrapping both arms around him from behind.

“This brings back so many memories,” Rohan whispered in Percy’s ear. The omega turned around to face him. “You drove Diego and me back home from the alpha auction house all those weeks ago in this very same car. I love the other three cars that we have at home, but this one will always be my favorite.”

Percy was about to ask the reason for that when he noticed Diego getting out of the vehicle. He beamed at Diego when the alpha approached him and Rohan.

“What were you two talking about? You both looked really serious.”

“The car,” Percy said. “And Rohan told me it will always be his favorite.”

“Mine, too,” Diego said.

Percy was more than a little curious. “Why?”

“Because it reminds me of when we first met,” Rohan replied.

“And meeting you both is the greatest blessing of my entire life,” Diego added.

Percy could feel his eyes tearing up, and as much as he hated acting like the stereotypical omega, he couldn’t help it. He was deeply touched by the two alphas’ comments. “Same for me.”

Diego nodded. “Enough about that. Let’s get into the car and drive to the beach. We’re going to have dinner there.”

Percy was surprised. “Why the beach? Is there a special occasion?”

Diego winked. “It’s a surprise.”

Percy chuckled. “So secretive.”

He might sound irritated, but he was excited about their upcoming date, and he had no doubt the two alphas could detect it in his scent. The journey to the beach both felt as if it would last forever but also ended too quickly. Percy wasn’t sure if he was ready for whatever Diego and Rohan had planned, but a larger part of him couldn’t wait for the big reveal. He was about to stand and make his way toward the door of the car when Diego blocked his way and lifted a piece of black cloth in front of his face.
