Chapter 43

“I got another damn letter from that alpha.”

Rohan balled up his fists while doing his best to suppress his rage. “Damn it! This is letter number fourteen, right?”

Percy nodded as he pulled the letter out of his pocket and passed it over to Rohan. “The content is even more disgusting and disturbing now. This unknown alpha has somehow gotten wind of our relationship, and he or she is blatantly threatening me. Not that I’m ever going to give up on us.”

Rohan read the letter, and he grew more furious by the second as he got to the end. He gave the letter to Diego and waited impatiently for the other alpha to read it. A moment later, Diego appeared even angrier than Rohan.

“Why haven’t the authorities done something about this?”

Percy shrugged. “They’ve done their best, but they couldn’t get any clues from the letters. There’s no fingerprints. Not even on the envelopes.”

“How were they delivered?” Rohan inquired.

“No idea,” Percy replied. “According to the office boy or girl at the studio, the letters were already there in the mailroom so he or she simply brought them to me. I’m sure you both understand how rare it is for people to send snail mail these days. Most people prefer e-mail. I usually get between ten and twenty letters every two or three weeks. The problem is there are tens of thousands of people who work in the compound, and most get snail mail delivered from the same post office. The authorities have already tried to watch all the recordings from the security cameras, both at the post office and the compound, but they were unable to narrow things down.”

“How about e-mails?” Diego asked.

Percy chuckled softly. “Hundreds of thousands of them each day in my work account, and they all come from my fans. That’s the reason why I generally ignore all of them. I’m not being ungrateful, but I don’t have the time to read them, and it’s impossible for me to get through them all. I only check my personal e-mail account because that’s where I receive all the business-related enquiries.”

Rohan frowned. “How reliable are the security systems and guards within the compound?”

Percy shrugged. “They should be excellent. Or at least that’s my presumption. After all, there are many celebrities in there, and quite a few of them are omegas. All of the other employees are just as important. The people who manage the compound know they can’t afford the negative publicity that would come from any mishaps.”

“You’re a celebrity yourself,” Diego teased, and Percy chuckled.

“I guess. Anyway, aside from the safety of the people who work inside the compound, we also have to remember there’s a lot of expensive equipment plus valuable recordings that probably date as far back as the twentieth century. In essence, the entire compound is filled with priceless items everywhere. There are lots of costumes and stage sets from centuries back that are worth quite a bit because the movies or TV series they’re a part of are extremely successful. Having said that, there’s a possibility the sender of the letters may be an insider.”

Diego gaped at Percy. “Is that what you think? Do the police agree with you?”

Percy nodded. “Yes to both. I mean, the possibility is quite high. Right?”

Rohan and Diego were speechless for a moment. Rohan definitely didn’t know how he was supposed to respond to that. He grew even more worried about Percy’s safety. He and Diego could accompany Percy around the compound, either individually or together, but there were no guarantees. He or Diego were human after all. They wouldn’t be able to protect Percy every single second of the day.

“Have you talked to the management?” Rohan asked.

“I have,” Percy replied. “Yesterday.”

“What did they tell you?”

“They know I have you or Diego with me at all times, but they will also assign two security guards to look after me.”

Rohan felt slightly more relieved after hearing that. “Good.”

“Now that we’ve settled that issue for the time being,” Diego said. “Can we talk about our date tonight?”

Percy shrugged. “Sure. I don’t have to go in to the studio today. What do you have in mind? I can help with the planning.”

Diego winked as he shook his head at Percy. “Nope. Ro and I will take care of that. You gave us a wonderful surprise last week with a picnic in the garden. It’s our turn now. What you can do instead is watch over the renovations on our behalves. I believe the contractor will be done within the next few days.”

Percy grinned. “I can do that. I’ll even make sure the workers install all of the kitchen tools and equipment correctly.”

“All right then. Thank you, Perce.”

“Yeah. Thanks,” Rohan added.
