Chapter 42
“And what’s the verdict?” Percy inquired. “Are we going to eat outside?”
Rohan shook his head. “We’ll eat in the car.”
Percy arched his left eyebrow. “Again? Will I be getting more roses and chocolates?”
Diego chuckled. “Nope.”
“This is step two, right?” Percy asked when he was reminded of Rohan and Diego’s scheme.
Rohan had the grace to blush. “Yes.”
Diego snickered, showing no embarrassment whatsoever. “Ro and I will do our best to take you out on some of the best dates ever.”
Percy wrapped his arms around the two alphas’ waists. “You don’t have to overdo it. A simple date will be just as good.”
“We know, but once in a while will be fine. Right?”
Percy beamed at Rohan. “Absolutely.”
Soon, the three of them reached the car, and Percy expected to have to shut his eyes the way he had a few nights before. However, he was surprised when Diego and Rohan gently guided him into the car when the door slid open. At first, it was dark inside the car, but a few things began to light up a second or two later, and they were coming from the floor of the vehicle. That was when Percy noticed the transparent glass balls that were scattered all around the car. The glass balls contained various flowers, and they emitted blue lights, casting a warm glow everywhere. Percy gasped when he caught sight of a beautiful flower arrangement in a vase in the center of the table. There was also a candelabra with five yellow light bulbs on it. Three dishes were on the table, along with three glasses of what Percy guessed must be sodas next to the plates. His heart beat faster and harder when soothing instrumental music started playing.
“Do you like it?” Diego whispered to Percy.
Percy could feel himself tearing up. “Yeah. Thank you. Both of you. This is amazing.”
“You’re welcome,” Rohan said. “Let’s sit down.”
They did so and continued to gaze at one another. When they began to eat, Percy found he was enjoying being with the two alphas, who listened attentively to him. He liked that. A lot. In his previous relationships, his ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends, especially the betas, seemed to presume it was his duty as an omega to shut up and simply allow them to talk. For the most part, they seemed disinterested in what he had to contribute to the conversation. Not that they were all horrible people. As far as Percy was concerned, Howard was the only terrible one among them. The others were just the byproducts of the society they lived in.
Diego and Rohan were different, though. They were obviously curious to know what his opinions were on many things. In fact, judging by their expressions and body language, they definitely wanted to hear what he had to say. He had expected their dynamics to change now they were officially dating, so he was pleasantly surprised to realize everything remained the same. If anything, Diego and Rohan were even more focused on him and each other. He was even more certain he’d made the right decision in agreeing to date both Diego and Rohan. Their first official dinner date was a huge success, and Percy couldn’t wait for the next one. 10
“Perce,” Rohan called the omega’s name for the third time during lunch.
Percy seemed distracted. “Sorry. What is it?”
Diego reached for Percy’s hand and squeezed it gently. “Are you all right? You’ve been distracted since last night, and you were just as listless earlier this morning during breakfast.”
Rohan stared at Percy. He was worried. He also wondered if he or possibly Diego might have done something to make their omega unhappy. However, he couldn’t think what. All three of them were busy with their respective responsibilities. Rohan and Diego had left their previous jobs, and were busy with the renovations to the building that would soon become their reading café. Percy was preoccupied with his own job and other businesses. The three of them had been dating for nearly four weeks, and their relationship had progressed smoothly.
Naturally, Rohan and Diego still took turns accompanying Percy in the studio. Rohan insisted on it, and so did Diego. They both agreed Percy’s safety and peace of mind would be their priority. In return, Percy spent all of his spare time cooking and baking for both Rohan and Diego. He even checked out the renovations at the reading café whenever he could make it. The three of them worked seamlessly together, and Rohan found himself falling harder and deeper in love with both Diego and Percy. However, he couldn’t understand why Percy had been acting weirdly since the previous evening. He was startled back to reality when he heard Percy sighing loudly.
