Chapter 42: He Is Really Dirty
Amelia's raised hand didn't touch the door, but instead pressed against a solid chest.
It was Robert.
Once Amelia realized this, she immediately pulled her hand back, looking at Robert who had suddenly blocked her way with complete disgust.
Robert ignored her disgust and, before she could speak, made a polite gesture with an official smile on his face.
"Ms. Martinez, Mrs. Smith is not feeling well right now and needs rest. She shouldn't be disturbed. Please."
Just before James closed the door, the look he gave him made it very clear - "escort" Amelia away.
Make her leave.
Robert stood blocking the hospital room door. He was about the same height as James.
But he was more heavily built than James.
Standing at the doorway, he was like a mountain, impossible to move.
Amelia wouldn't lower herself to struggle with an assistant.
Not to mention that doing so would give Mia inside a good laugh.
Most importantly, if she forced her way in now, her intentions would become too obvious.
Even if she got what she wanted and caused Mia to lose the baby, she would lose some points in James's eyes.
Amelia's thoughts raced.
She immediately thought of that hint of uncertainty she had detected in James not long ago.
After weighing her options, she immediately chose to give up.
She wouldn't do something that wasn't worth it.
In a game she was sure to win, there was no need to rush.
......
Amelia's eyes were filled with darkness.
Mia had played this hand quite cleverly.
It seemed she had underestimated Mia.
She really hadn't expected that Mia would have some tricks up her sleeve.
"I'll remember you."
Amelia looked at Robert with arrogant eyes, her voice very soft but her tone extremely cold.
What exactly had Mia given him to make him dare to help Mia block her outside the door?
His smile seemed painted on Robert's face, not moving an inch, his gesture asking her to leave remaining unchanged.
He just looked at Amelia patiently like this.
How honored he was, right?
To be remembered by Amelia.
"You just wait!"
Amelia didn't bother getting angry at someone like Robert, coldly glancing at him.
That glance was full of threat.
Someone who couldn't figure out which side to take at a critical moment, who dared to be so rude to her - just wait for James to deal with him!
Amelia let out a light scoff at Robert, turned around in her high heels, and left angrily.
Robert followed unhurriedly, a few steps behind, until he saw her downstairs and watched her get into her car, then turned to walk back.
......
Inside the hospital room
James helped Mia lie down properly, then turned to pour her some water.
Mia had just been so angry at Amelia that her vision went dark.
She closed her eyes, leaning against the hospital bed, her chest rising and falling slightly.
Her hand under the blanket gripped the bedsheet tightly, working hard to adjust her emotions.
Lost in her own thoughts, when water was brought to her lips, being so thirsty, she instinctively opened her mouth to drink.
She drank several large gulps in a row, drinking too quickly, and choked.
She leaned forward slightly in pain, pressing her hand on the bed, coughing non-stop.
Tears came out.
James was startled and quickly moved the water cup away a bit, raising his hand to pat her back.
Mia, who was coughing, clearly stiffened.
This was the hand that had hugged and touched Amelia.
The moment James's hand landed on her back, it was as if the most disgusting things had instantly crawled all over her body, making her feel uncomfortable all over.
She avoided him by moving to the other side, and though very weak, she glared at James with disgust and said, "Dirty, don't touch me."
James's hand froze in mid-air.
She said he was dirty?
He had always been proper and clean - where was he dirty?
Between the two of them, it seemed like he doted on her and indulged her.
But actually, the control had always been in his hands.
Before, being as dominant as he was, he would definitely have forcibly pulled her back into his arms and not allowed her to make a fuss.
But now, looking at Mia's pale face, so weak she seemed like she could faint again at any moment.
The scenes from last night flashed through his mind.
The doctor's instructions still rang in his ears.
[Remember not to let the patient be stimulated again]
James silently withdrew his hand.
When he withdrew his hand, in Mia's eyes, James was admitting to it.
She felt even more disgusted.
Even though he had already withdrawn his hand, that disgusting feeling seemed to have seeped into her flesh and blood.
Tormenting her.
Mia's stomach churned, and she felt waves of nausea.
The water brought to her lips again was hard to swallow.
If she drank one more sip, she felt she would throw up.
She weakly collapsed back onto the hospital bed, closing her eyes in pain.
James was really dirty now.
A dirty man - she didn't want him anymore.
......
James softened his voice and asked, "What do you want to eat?"
She hadn't eaten anything for a long time.
She had already gotten a good sleep, and now what she needed most was to eat something.
Mia didn't respond, as if she had fallen asleep.
But James, who knew her well, knew she wasn't asleep.
Robert stood outside the hospital room and knocked.
James looked at him upon hearing the sound, signaling him to come in.
Robert pushed the door open and entered.
Their eyes met briefly in mid-air.
With years of understanding, just one look told James that Robert had already sent Amelia, the ticking time bomb who would stimulate Mia and the baby, away from the hospital.
He breathed a sigh of relief and told him to go buy breakfast for Mia.
All the things Mia had clearly enjoyed eating last time.
......
James didn't know that his eye contact with Robert had all fallen into Mia's eyes, who had opened them when she heard the knock.
Robert was indeed James's most capable assistant, handling both business and personal matters.
Everything handled so "beautifully."
Her eyes full of mockery, she closed them again.
......
Robert quickly bought the food and brought it over.
"Mia, get up and eat something before you sleep?"
James continued to speak nicely, just wanting Mia to obediently eat something.
But she lay on the hospital bed like a puppet doll, not responding.
Her face cold, shutting him out of her world.
......
James didn't try to persuade her anymore and had Robert report on work.
After the work report was finished, the food had also gone cold, and Mia still hadn't opened her eyes.
"Go buy another portion."
James's voice had clearly become heavier.
"Yes!"
Robert took the cold food out of the hospital room, gave it to the caregiver, and went to buy more.
......
After Robert left, James stood by the bed, looking down at the person lying there.
If she didn't eat, her body would break down.
Anxiety welled up in his heart.
When he spoke again, he no longer had the gentleness from when he was coaxing her to eat.
His voice was extremely low as he called her name, "Mia!"
Already on the edge of anger!
He knew that the matter with Amelia had made her very angry.
She was angry at the "unintentional" deception he had caused, misunderstanding the relationship between him and Amelia.
He had some responsibility in this. She was angry, throwing a tantrum at him was fine, but she shouldn't mess around with herself and the baby in her belly.
