Chapter 176: Antidote 2
Louis was so scared he immediately hung up and threw his phone far away.
Hear no evil.
He knew all too well how possessive James could be.
If James found out he'd heard Mia making those sounds, he was afraid he'd be silenced.
Didn't hear it, didn't hear it—he didn't hear anything!
...
James was clearly stunned when Mia suddenly hugged him from behind.
His first thought was that Mia had regained consciousness.
But that voice—it didn't sound like it.
The call had already been disconnected. He casually tossed his phone onto the sofa.
He quickly turned around to face Mia.
At this moment, Mia felt like her whole body was on fire, and she was instinctively seeking relief.
The moment her hands touched James, they became restless.
As he turned around, she accidentally touched the exposed skin on his chest and immediately pressed her face against it.
Being close to him made her body feel a bit more comfortable.
She had completely lost her rationality, clinging to him soft and boneless.
James was still in shock.
He pulled Mia out of his embrace, his gaze fixed on her.
He couldn't quite believe his own ears.
Did he just imagine that?
Mia had clearly lost all sense of normalcy, but just now she seemed to be calling out "James—"
This wasn't the first time Mia had called his name, but before, her voice had always been a very soft murmur that James hadn't caught.
While James was still dazed, Mia had already stood on tiptoe to kiss his jaw.
Once, twice, again and again.
But it still wasn't enough.
Her hands climbed onto his shoulders, then continued upward.
She found his lips again.
The soft sensation brought James back to his senses.
He cupped Mia's face with both hands, wanting to confirm whether she had just called his name.
"James..."
Mia pressed against him, calling his name.
In her unconscious state, was he the person in her heart?
"James..."
Mia was extremely uncomfortable.
The person who could relieve her discomfort was right in front of her, but she couldn't reach him.
Her subconscious kept calling James's name over and over.
Hearing it clearly, James excitedly cupped Mia's face. "Mia..."
The moment he opened his mouth, he gave Mia an opportunity.
Like a traveler in the desert dying of thirst who had searched for so long and finally found water, she immediately lunged forward.
She silenced his voice.
More passionate than ever before, chasing after him relentlessly.
In the gaps, she still called his name.
James picked up Mia, turning from passive to active, carrying her back to the master bedroom and placing her on the bed.
Just now outside, his cooperation had provided some relief.
The moment she was tossed onto the bed, Mia had a brief moment of clarity.
A pained expression appeared on her face. She didn't recognize James and thought it was still Ernest and the others.
Her body felt terrible, but she didn't want them to touch her.
She kept calling out, "James."
While her body tried hard to shrink back, her face full of resistance. The struggle between her body and mind was torture.
Seeing this, James's heart ached. He leaned over, pulled her back into his arms, cupped her face, met her hazy gaze, and drew closer.
"Mia, it's me. I'm James."
Mia's consciousness wasn't clear, but she vaguely seemed to hear James's voice.
"James?"
Her vision was becoming increasingly blurred. With her last bit of rationality, she struggled to ask.
"It's me."
Mia could no longer think normally. Before being controlled by the drug again, she heard it was James.
Her body, which had just been trying to resist, completely relaxed. She smiled and reached out her arms to wrap them around his shoulders again.
That relaxed smile was like a shot of adrenaline.
James had no more concerns. He lowered his head and kissed her.
...
The sky gradually darkened, night enveloped the earth, and the bedroom fell into darkness.
After being entangled with Mia for several hours, he was also somewhat tired.
When she was finally satisfied and quieted down, his body was exhausted, but his heart was especially fulfilled.
He closed his eyes and held her in his arms, enjoying the moment for quite a while before slightly loosening his grip.
After hours of activity, the bed was already a complete mess.
He got up and carefully moved her to the sofa, covering her with a thin blanket.
Mia was too tired and didn't react at all to being moved.
James looked down at Mia sleeping soundly on the sofa, exhausted.
His large hand gently brushed aside the sweat-dampened hair at her temples, and he kissed her forehead tenderly.
He began changing the sheets and bedding, then used a warm towel to clean her up briefly before carrying her back to bed and pulling her into his arms.
A heart that had been empty for so long finally had the feeling of slowly being filled again.
He watched her for a long time before finally succumbing to sleepiness, closing his eyes and falling into a deep sleep.
As night turned to day, James had already drawn the curtains before sleeping.
Through the open window, a breeze blew past, lifting the curtains as light spilled in.
After sleeping for more than ten hours, Mia finally woke up.
The moment her consciousness cleared, Mia, who was no stranger to intimacy, immediately realized what had happened to her body.
Her mind went blank for a moment. She forgot to breathe.
Until she breathed again, a familiar masculine scent entered her nose. Mia lifted her head extremely slowly.
From his jaw upward, until she clearly saw it was James, she finally let out a long breath of relief.
Thank goodness, it was him.
Her thoughts were chaotic. Mia didn't get up immediately. She closed her eyes again.
Fragmented images from yesterday floated through her mind.
She had been drugged by Ernest. In her moment of despair, the James she had hoped would come save her actually appeared.
He saved her.
Thinking about yesterday and what had already happened, Mia's heart was in turmoil.
She wanted to think calmly, but with her eyes closed, James's scent filled her nose, making it impossible to think normally. For a moment, she didn't know how to face this.
Just yesterday morning, she had cruelly hurt James to draw a clear line between them, and now this.
Not wanting to torture herself anymore, Mia decided to leave first and figure out a good way to handle this later.
Having made her decision, Mia saw that James was still asleep.
Her hand gently grasped the arm he had wrapped around her waist. Each movement was very light and slow.
After pulling it away, she quietly moved backward out of his embrace until she was free, then slowly sat up.
Her heart leaped with joy—the hardest step, breaking free, was successful.
Just as she was about to execute the final step of her plan—getting out of bed.
Her waist suddenly tightened.
Mia was pulled back by a force, falling into James's arms.
He rolled over on top of her, locking her in his embrace.
One hand gripped her chin to hold her in place, the other grasped her waist so she couldn't escape.
His devastatingly handsome features enlarged before her eyes, slowly approaching until only a finger's width remained between their lips before stopping.
He lifted his thumb to gently caress her red and swollen lips, sending tingles wherever he touched.
His husky voice carried a hint of wickedness as it sounded in Mia's ear, "Mia, where do you think you're going?"
