Chapter 175: Antidote
The moment that familiar body pressed against him, James's breath caught and his Adam's apple bobbed violently.
The fire in his lower abdomen that he'd been desperately suppressing was about to break free. His large hand on Mia's waist suddenly tightened.
Mia was challenging his already fragile self-control.
Normally, he couldn't resist her even when she didn't make the first move.
Let alone now, when she was being so forward like a little wildcat, making his blood boil.
James really wanted to just kiss her without thinking.
If this had been before this morning, he definitely would have been her cure. That way, once they made real progress, their relationship might move forward too.
But...
Thinking about this morning in the hospital lounge, the cold attitude Mia showed after she couldn't help herself with him.
Those hurtful words she said without hesitation still echoed in his ears.
James's breathing grew heavier. In just a few seconds, he fought a fierce battle within himself.
He couldn't take advantage of her.
Mia had no self-awareness right now. She had no idea who she was holding.
James struggled to lift his hand to the back of Mia's head, pulling her slightly away from his lips and pressing her against his neck again, not letting her keep igniting the fire.
His breathing unsteady, he pulled out his phone from his pocket and called Louis.
After speaking quickly, without waiting for Louis to respond, he hung up directly.
Having just gotten a little taste of sweetness, Mia wasn't about to give up after being forcibly stopped.
Her body twisted even more intensely, her soft lips urgently searching.
But nothing she touched was right.
These things couldn't ease her discomfort.
"It hurts..."
Unable to find relief, Mia desperately twisted her waist, trying to lift her head from James's neck.
Just now, it wasn't here.
"Go faster!"
James ordered Robert in the front seat, his voice dark and hoarse.
Hearing this, Robert floored the gas pedal.
The car sped through traffic, Robert using his excellent driving skills to the fullest, getting them to James's post-divorce place in the shortest time possible.
As soon as the car stopped, James got out carrying Mia wrapped in his suit jacket.
The whole journey had been torture for both of them. Mia, having lost her reason, was too uncontrollable.
His body was already soaked with sweat, his clothes wrinkled from Mia's rubbing, his shirt pulled open by her, revealing large patches of sexy skin.
You could faintly see a few scratch marks on it.
She'd scratched them out in frustration when he wouldn't let her touch him.
His temples were damp with sweat, the corners of his eyes red from extreme restraint, his whole body radiating intense allure.
Robert, standing by the car door, accidentally glanced over and his heart nearly skipped a beat.
He quickly looked away.
Even he, a normal straight guy, felt his ears burn hot.
This look was way too seductive.
Louis was already waiting at the door.
They arrived almost at the same time. As soon as he saw James, Louis complained out loud.
"James, is there something wrong with your brain?"
Mia was the woman he'd been thinking about constantly.
The woman he desperately wanted to have again.
With such a great opportunity, he actually called him over to neutralize the drug!
Wasn't he himself the cure?
Go for it!
Don't suppress your nature!
Sleep with her, and maybe by tomorrow morning you could remarry!
"Cut the crap, come in."
James's tone was heavy.
On one hand, he worried that holding it in so long would harm Mia's body.
On the other hand, he was also in real pain from restraining himself.
Carrying Mia, after unlocking the door, he strode inside.
This was a large flat of over 300 ping. James headed straight for the master bedroom.
Placing Mia on the bed, he pulled back the covers and wrapped her up, then turned to Louis and said in a deep voice, "Hurry up!"
If it wasn't necessary, he didn't want anyone else to see Mia looking so tempting.
Even though he knew Louis wouldn't have any improper thoughts about his woman.
But Mia's charming and alluring appearance—he only wanted to keep it to himself.
Though Louis didn't understand at all, this was James's own decision, so he could only complain.
Carrying his medical kit, he stepped forward.
Since James had made up his mind, he didn't waste more words. He first gave Mia a sedative injection to temporarily suppress it.
Then he injected the antidote he'd already prepared.
"The medicine will take about half an hour to work, then it'll gradually ease up."
"Okay."
James responded quietly, all his attention on Mia.
After finishing the injection, while disposing of the needle, he looked at James with an indescribable expression.
"Get lost!"
James caught the look from the corner of his eye and, crossing the river and tearing down the bridge, unceremoniously lifted his leg and kicked Louis.
That glance clearly said, what would you know, someone without love!
If he didn't care so much about Mia's feelings, afraid she'd be in pain afterward if she got involved with him again unwillingly.
Would he be holding back?
He understood nothing!
After Louis left, James stayed by her side.
Tenderly wiping the sweat from Mia's damp temples, not daring to touch her too much, letting her suffer.
Time passed minute by minute.
James watched as Mia, who had clearly been injected with the antidote.
Half an hour had passed, and Mia didn't seem to have any relief at all. Instead, she seemed more and more uncomfortable.
The sedative he'd supplemented lost its effect again. Watching Mia suffer more and more from being suppressed too long.
James's pupils contracted.
What's going on?
He let go, got up to get his phone from outside and called Louis. As soon as the line connected, James angrily confronted him, "Are you a quack?"
Louis, who had just arrived at the hospital, was speechless.
He pressed his tongue against his palate, his brows furrowing, "Mia's symptoms still haven't eased?"
That statement was obviously pointless.
It was indeed his oversight.
He remembered recently hanging around bars, hearing a group of friends mention that there was a new type of drug going around lately.
Very potent.
Normal antidotes couldn't neutralize it.
If he prepared a new antidote now and rushed back there, round trip, it would take at least an hour.
"There's another way—just have Mia soak in cold water."
James immediately rejected this option in his mind.
Using cold water to neutralize the drug took a very long time.
He absolutely couldn't let Mia be in cold water for that long.
She already had a cold constitution, not to mention her body hadn't recovered well from her last miscarriage.
Soaking in cold water for a long time—her body simply couldn't handle it.
"Is there no other way?"
"You!"
Louis was brief and to the point!
There was clearly a shortcut right there, but he kept taking detours. What was he thinking?
James fell silent, his already furrowed brow tightening even more.
His heart fell into struggle again.
"James—"
A soft, seductive voice suddenly rang out, and boneless arms wrapped around him from behind.
