Chapter 202

Chapter 202
Eve’s POV
"Lady!" A voice slowly rang out. "Wake up!"
I slowly opened my eyes and found myself still in a taxi, speeding on the road at this moment.
I sat up in a daze and took the first glance at the bright blue sky. I was so shocked that I couldn't control myself.
"What's wrong with you?" The voice beside continued to ask.
I ignored him. Instead, I reached out and touched my own shoulder. There was no wound.
I quickly rolled down the car window again.
A sweet and fresh scent was directly poured into my nose, accompanied by the wind that was characteristic of high-speed driving, furiously blowing against my face.
It was fresh air.
It was a cool breeze.
"Did I escape?!" I shouted uncontrollably, with an indescribable joy on my face.
Could it be that this taxi was the key to breaking the deadlock?
It was like a "boat on the River Styx," capable of carrying people freely in and out of that strange "End place," and this woman named "Luna" was like the River Styx ferryman "Charon," responsible for transporting the people on board to and from the world of the living...
I turned my head and was momentarily stunned. Where was Luna in front of me?
Beside me was a big man wearing sunglasses. Due to his profession, his skin had been burned dark and shiny by ultraviolet rays.
"Why are you so startled?" The big man looked at me a little scared. "You can't be on drugs, can you?"
"You..." "I..." I felt as if I'd seen this big man before, but on second thought, I had no impression at all. "Where are we going?"
"Please don't scare me, guest." The taxi driver looked burly and stout, but still nervously swallowed hard. "Aren't you going to take a taxi to the city center? It's quite a distance from the airport to there. Don't deny it."
"What?!" I looked at the sign above the road in shock and found that the car was indeed about to enter Los Angeles.
I instantly recalled everything. I had indeed seen this big man before.
Before the Golden Gate Bridge broke, I often flew around to participate in anti-Eden Island protests in various places. After returning alone once, I took this taxi.
"Am I back to the day before?" I touched my pocket and took out my mobile phone. After a quick glance, I immediately showed a look of confusion.
The timing was right. Could it be that I was really back to reality?
I hurriedly called Vicky and Luke.
"Mom? Are you back? Let's have dinner together tonight in the apartment! Let's talk about it later. I'm looking at a car!" Vicky replied cheerfully. "Hello! Ethan! That's the latest Porsche! If you want to buy it, ask your brother for the money!"
Vicky hung up the phone and I called Luke again.
Luke's voice was as steady as ever, but with a hint of joy. "Eve! You're back just in time! I'm right in the association! The matters of the hearing are all set!"
I listened quietly to Luke. I covered my mouth to try not to cry out loud, then told Luke that I would be back soon and asked him to wait for me.
Seeing that I was behaving a bit more normally, the driver also let his guard down a little. "You were so startled. I thought you were on drugs..."
"No, I just had a very terrifying nightmare." I kept the window open, enjoying the sea breeze constantly, feeling extremely comfortable. "Fortunately, I'm awake now from my dream."
For me, now I had a second chance.
Since the Golden Gate Bridge was going to break and some so-called "gods" would forcibly take me away, I could definitely take Luke and Vicky and get ready!
Even if it was like Final Destination!
The taxi kept driving and gradually approached the city center. I watched the pedestrians and vehicles by the roadside and felt very relieved.
After all, to get to the city center from LAX, one didn't need to cross the Golden Gate Bridge.
I also leaned back in my seat and dialed Vicky's phone again, but this time it didn't answer. I called a few more times. Vicky replied hurriedly and hung up, saying that she would remember to have dinner in the apartment tonight.
This was indeed Vicky's character.
I called Luke again. I listened to his voice but said nothing. Luke seemed to sense that something was wrong with me and asked me what had happened.
"Something happened. To be honest, it's quite... incredible! I went to a place of death that was even larger than Eden Island... do you believe me?" I said.
Luke replied without hesitation that he believed it. I let out a breath and couldn't wait to see my lover and daughter.
"Let's go to the apartment. It's closer there. How about going home?"
"No problem, Eve. I love you."
"I love you."
In such a quiet environment, I recalled again what had happened at the "Final Place."
All of that was so real that it didn't seem like a dream at all.
I reached out and touched my left shoulder. At that moment, there was no sign of injury at all, but I clearly remembered everything that had happened.
I remembered Owen Parker, Daniel, Candy, Officer Murphy, Taylor Ford, Walter all died there. I was dead too, but I returned to my previous life.
So, could those people also return to their own lives...?
I was afraid all of this was just a strange prank.
I really hoped so.
As the sky darkened, the lights on the highway guardrail gradually came on.
Although I only stayed in that godforsaken place for three days, I felt as if I hadn't seen any lights at night for a long time.
The night light made me feel inexplicably at ease.
The driver turned on the radio in the car.
"You are now listening to Los Angeles Traffic Radio."
A slightly magnetic voice slowly emerged, which seemed to be the channel that taxi drivers all loved to listen to.
"It's exactly ten o'clock now. Let's take a look at the messages."
After saying this, the host was obviously stunned for a moment and didn't say the next sentence for nearly ten seconds.
I frowned slightly, feeling that things weren't that simple.
Live-streaming hosts all had very strong psychological qualities. Even if most of the online comments were useless, they would still pick out the key information and announce it at the first moment. But why hadn't they said anything after more than ten seconds now?
"The message is a bit strange..." The host said in a strange tone. "The platform has received dozens of messages in a row. There is a crack on Lombardy Street. We are confirming where this crack comes from. Please be careful and avoid it when passing by!"
