Chapter 33 His Desperate Possession
Rafe’s POV
I stepped closer to Shawn, lifting my chin defiantly even though my legs still felt shaky from the rough sex and the adrenaline now coursing through me.
“Yes…you heard me clearly,” I shot back, my voice echoing through the tiny apartment. “Why the hell did you even come here in the first place? You chose to meet Avery’s parents like a perfect boyfriend, ready to make everything official. So why are you here meddling in my life? For fucks sake why are you interfering in my business as I belong to you?!”
“Because you’re mine!” Shawn barked, his chest rising and falling like a bull ready to charge. He stepped even closer, his body towering over me, “Whether you want to admit it or not. That ass, that mouth, every fucking moan that leaves your lips while I fuck you…it belongs to me…”
“…not this random piece of shit on the floor. You don’t get to run off and let someone else touch you just because you’re pissed at me.”
The argument exploded between us, both our voices overlapping each other and bouncing off the thin apartment walls.
“I’m not yours!” I snapped back, stepping closer to Shawn until our chests nearly collided. “You made that very clearly when you left me hanging after promising to fuck me tonight…so don’t you dare come in here acting like some jealous boyfriend when you’re the one who walked away!”
For a moment, Shawn said nothing, his eyes flashing with pure rage, but beneath the fury I caught something else— desperation.
“Rafe, listen to me…” his voice cracked as he tried to plead with me even while his hands trembled with aggression. “Fucking listen to me!” he barked, grabbing my shoulders hard enough to bruise. “I never wanted to go to that stupid dinner in the first place…I hated every second of it. I did it to protect us, to stop you from blurting out our secret to Avery in a fit of anger. But you?”
He paused for a second, his eyes raking all over me with a mix of rage and frustration. “You ran straight here to get fucked by some stranger as revenge. Tell me I’m wrong, tell me you didn’t do this on purpose to hurt me.”
“Who the fuck are you to decide what I do with my body!” I yelled back, shoving his chest hard with every word. “You don’t own me, Shawn…and you never will.”
“Please, Rafe,” he growled, his grip tightening possessively on my shoulders while his voice turned almost desperate. “Let’s get out of here. We’ll figure this out once we leave this filthy hole. You’re mine…you know you’re mine. Don’t make me watch you throw yourself at someone else again.”
The words should have made me more pissed at him. Instead, they sent a dangerous wave of pleasure running through my veins.
Before I could part my lips to say anything more, Shawn’s body pressed closer, One of his hands slid from my shoulder to the back of my neck, his fingers digging in as he pulled me in until our foreheads nearly touched.
“Say it,” he demanded, his voice dropping to a low, dirty whisper that sent chills through me, the same tone he used when he had me pinned against the wall. “Say you’re mine, Navarro…say that no one else will ever fuck you as I do.”
Shawn doesn’t give me the chance to react as his free hand slides into my ass, possessive and hungry, pulling me flush against him. The instant his hand grabbed my ass, my cock twitched traitorously despite everything.
Shawn noticed immediately, because his eyes darkened with triumph and lust as he leaned in, his lips brushing a shell of my ear. “You’re already getting hard for me again,” his voice dropped to a low, sultry growl. Even after letting that bastard fuck you…Yet your body knows who it belongs to, Rafe. Stop fighting it.”
I hated how my entire body was betraying me at his touch, how easy it would be to give in — to let him push me against the wall and remind me exactly why I couldn’t get the image of the night we fucked out of my head. My hands came up to shove at his chest, but the push was weak, almost a caress.
“Get off me,” I managed to force the words out with every ounce of resistance I could muster, trying to sound serious even as I could feel how hard my cock was throbbing for him. “I’m not yours. I’m not—”
That was when my gaze flicked past him to the guy on the floor.
My blood ran cold.
He was lying completely motionless now, his chest wasn’t rising and falling as it had been moments ago.
“Shawn…” My voice cracked with sudden terror. “See what you’ve caused? Look at him! He’s not moving. Who knows if he’s dead or something? This is all your fault!”
“Fuck!!”
I rushed to his side instantly, dropping to my knees beside him. I pressed two fingers to his neck, desperately searching for a pulse.
“Oh…shit! Thank God!”
Thankfully, I could still feel his pulse—weak but steady. He was still breathing, just knocked out cold from the beating.
“We have to rush him to the hospital right now!” I barked, looking up at Shawn, fear and anger mixing violently in my chest.
For what felt like an intentional pause, Shawn didn’t utter a word in response. He just stared down at the unconscious body, the expression on his face hardening into stubborn refusal.
“Why the fuck would we rush that to the hospital? He’s fine. Just knocked out…let him sleep it off.”
“If we don’t take him to the hospital, both of us are going to be in serious trouble, Shawn!” I stood to my feet abruptly, moving towards him. “This could ruin our careers… the team, the league, everything. So you better shove your stupid possessive bullshit aside for once and help me get him to the car!”
On hearing those words leave my mouth, Shawn stepped closer, his voice dropping into that dangerous mix of pleading and aggression.
“Rafe, baby, please. Just listen to me for one second. We don’t need to take him to any hospital, he’ll be fine. All I need is for you to come home with me…please—“
I didn’t wait for him to finish his words, adrenaline and fear crashed through me as I bent down, grabbed the guy under his arms, and with a grunt of effort, hoisted him over my shoulder in a fireman’s carry.
His dead weight made my muscles scream, but I refused to back down. I stormed past Shawn toward the door, and the guy’s limp body rested across my back.
“I’m waiting for you downstairs,” I snapped over my shoulder, my voice cracking with rage and fear. “We’re taking him to the hospital. Now.”
Without another word, I carried him out of the apartment and down the hallway, my heart pounding so loudly I swore Shawn could hear it from afar.
