Chapter 56

POV Kaleo

I really wanted to turn my back and leave to clear my head with the wind of Selvaria. Hearing what Melissa had hidden from me all this time almost set me on fire.

When I chose her, I cared about this "new female" thing because I thought that by following the traditions, the gods would guide me to the best female. But when I saw Melissa for the first time, that became too small, it no longer mattered, and if she had told me when she arrived that Unob lied about her being a new female, I would have understood.

However, I also understand Melissa's side because as soon as her small ship landed, we didn't even speak the same language. The female had no idea who I was, and I could very well have been a bad male.

But it hurts my chest to imagine that during the last few weeks, I thought I knew everything about her when, in reality, I knew nothing about her origin. I don't care that she has been with other males, because I have also been with other females, but I care about the lie.

Husband and wife should never lie to each other, that's what my father always said. If there was a lie, there was no love.

However, since I locked myself in this room, the human just wouldn't stop talking, she stayed outside insisting and banging, crying so loudly that it made my chest hurt to feel how much she was suffering, so I couldn't take it anymore and ended up responding.

"I told you everything, Kaleo, I..." She interrupts her sentence when I open the door, and when I look down, I realize the female is sitting on the floor, her face even more flushed than before. "P-please, give me a second chance, I beg you, Kaleo," she whispers, staring at me with her brown eyes, swollen and red.

I want to be firm with her, I want to show Melissa that she can't lie to me and get away with it.

I am one of the most important generals in the old azuri army!

But I think I'm going to explode if I hear my little wife cry a little more, it feels like my hearts are being ripped out of my chest.

"Are you really going to stay?" I ask, struggling to keep my tone firm now that my anger has gone and only a huge warmth remains in my chest.

"Do you want me to stay?" she asks and then bites her full lower lip, but that doesn't stop her from sobbing.

"Melisha..." I growl, unable to hold back anymore, not when she looks so desperate, then I crouch down and pick up my female, lifting her off the floor easily and hugging her against me. "You're so cold!"

I'm without the jacket I wore for hunting, I took it off while I was inside the room to cool down better, so I can feel her low temperature when she buries her face in my chest and starts crying again, shaking from head to toe.

"Will you let me stay with you, K-kaleo?" Melissa opens her legs and wraps her arms around my waist, pulling herself closer to me.

You should resist, Kaleo!

You can't let this female do whatever she wants with you, your brothers would laugh in your face if they found out!

But they're not here, and I don't think I can live without my little wife anymore. I would definitely go back to the state of lethargy I was in before she arrived.

"Of course, my Melisha." I hug her soft body even tighter, one arm around her backside to support her and the other on her back. "If you want to stay with me, I will be the happiest azuri in Selvaria," I admit, and she looks up at me, showing me a small, teary smile through her tears.

By Novai, I love this woman so much that it hurts.

"Thank you so much for understanding me, my Kaleo," she thanks, and something very rare happens: I feel myself blush.

My two cheeks heat up, and I even look away from her because I wasn't expecting Melissa to call me that. Every male's dream is for their female to return their possessiveness.

"I'm so sorry your life has been so difficult that you couldn't trust me," I murmur, walking with her to our bed, which is still quite messy, then I sit with her on my lap. "But from now on, we won't have any more secrets, okay?"

"No secrets, I promise." She nods and starts leaving warm kisses on my chest and rubbing her nose against my skin, just like I do with her, and I think it's time to seal our union.

I will definitely still talk to the female about this "camgirl" thing, and of course, I'm incredibly jealous just imagining that other males have had her attention. But I can't be unfair and let the past affect our present like this, especially when Melissa had no other choice if she wanted to survive in space.

She's a brave warrior, did what was necessary, and I know very well that humans are not well viewed by other aliens, just like the azuris, but now I will give her everything she needs. Melissa will never have to go through anything like what she told me again, because my heart tells me she's a good female, and I've always had very good instincts.

"Now that you've decided to stay... I have something for you," I say, feeling myself tremble inside as I lay Melissa on the bed, going after the little box I hid under the mattress.

I've been watching human videos ever since I decided to buy one, and almost every romantic movie I saw had something at the end that I managed to have made in the village. I had to measure Melissa's finger while she was asleep with a piece of thin rope, but I think it turned out very well.

Once it was ready, I kept this small object waiting for the day Melissa would decide to stay for good, and now that she said she doesn't want to go anywhere, I think it's time for me to reveal the gift.

So I stick my hand down to the end of the floor, fish out the square wooden box with my fingers, and then come back closer to the human to kneel at her feet, just like I saw happen in the movies.

"Will you marry me, Melisha?" I open the box and reveal the ring I asked them to make.

Rings are not uncommon in Selvaria, but I've never seen anyone ask a female to marry them with one. But since it seems to be a human tradition, I decided to follow it to the letter and made a ring with a golden metal from my planet that closely resembles Earth's gold, and asked them to set several blue stones of different shades on the outside. They didn’t come out exactly symmetrical or even the same shape, but in my opinion, the final result looks really nice.

"Kaleo..." Melissa looks from me to the ring several times, investigating my expression as if waiting for some kind of change. "Are you serious?" She furrows her brow and scratches her head, looking confused.

Did I get the tradition wrong? But in the movies, this is how humans did it.

"You've been my little wife since the moment I laid my eyes on you, Melisha. Now we just need to make it official, so I made this ring and..." I start explaining my intentions, but in the middle of my sentence, the female interrupts me and snatches the box with the ring from my hand.

"I accept! You can set the wedding!" she shouts, grabbing the gift as if I could take it from her at any second, and I’m so startled that I start laughing.
