WARRIOR STARE

STACY

Maurice has already made it known to me that he will allow me to go in search of Venus but his disappointed and disapproving look is still there.

I'm elated and my eyes widen as my lips form a smile automatically.

“Really? Will you really let me go?” I ask, still in doubts. I have to make sure that he means what he just said and that he isn't going to take it back later. Well, either way, I will still go, it's just that I haven't decided on where to start from.

He sighs and sits down at the bottom of the bed. “On one condition though.” He says.

Condition? Ah, of course there would be a catch and I should have seen that coming!

“What's it?”

“I will go with you and the moment it gets too dangerous, we will turn and come back here.”

“You will go with me? Maurice, you can't since you have to stay behind and take care of the Pack and it's members.” I reprimand him as I stand up and move a few inches closer to him.

“It's fine, Dwayne and Oswald will be here. The elders will also be there to help them if there's anything too hard for them.”

I look at him directly in the eyes. “Are you sure about this? I know how much the Pack's safety means to you.”

He smiles and takes my hands into his. “I've already sent a message to Alpha Joseph and informed him that we will place a call through to them tomorrow and we'd like to speak directly with him. I'm not sure how things will turn out since it's practically the first time we've ever made contact since both of us took over our fathers' spots.” He says and I nod in understanding while playing with his hands.

“Don't worry, I think we have the leverage on him. He'll want to hear us out.”

Without a warning, he draws nearer and hugs me.

It's tight and I almost can't breathe. He must've noticed because he loosens his hug and chuckles softly.

“I'm sorry, I just missed you. It's not easy having you mad at me for over a week!” He confesses.

Well, the sentiments and the feeling is mutual. I terribly missed him too!

My heart seems to have softened at that, making me smile. My headache has naturally gone away now and I hug Maurice back because he isn't the only one who had a hard time through out the past week.

“And whose fault was it.” I ask as I pout. His lips have already made their way down my neck where he placed his mark.

The sensation it makes me feel is uncontrollable, especially after being separated from him due to our fight, the mate bond must've recognized it and now the bond is stronger than usual. It's like a craving...I need to have him.

It seems to be the same for him because before we both know it, our lips are already intertwined, our hands on each other's bodies like magnets.

“You're going to drive me insane one of these fine days and you don't even know it.” He whispers before claiming my lips yet again and all I can do is only to smile and pull him closer.

We eventually end up on bed, making the craziest love ever. Tonight ends up as a night of passion and rekindling of our love indeed!

*****

The next day, around noon, I can't stop pacing back and forth as we wait for the call from Alpha Joseph's Pack.

Maurice's office door gets opened and I see Dwayne coming in while whistling. When he spots Maurice and I both in the same room, he stops whistling and switches looks between my mate and myself.

A knowing smile displays itself on his lips and before he can even say a word, Maurice has already thrown something at him to keep from saying anything. However, he dodges and unexpectedly, Oswald who's right behind him is hit at his muscled chest by the mysterious object, which is a book, before it falls down the ground.

“What the heck Maurice? Is this how you say hello?” Oswald asks, confused rather than hurt by the object.

Meanwhile, Maria walks in. Her eyes look around the room until they fall on me and she immediately runs to me.

“Stacy darling, I haven't seen you for a while and I can see you've been busy.” She says.

“Busy with--” Dwayne doesn't finish his sentence because Maurice tries to hit him once again.

I can feel my cheeks getting warm and I'm sure I'm blushing red. Dwayne and his big mouth! He doesn't really know when to shut up! So what if Maurice and I have made up already? It's natural for a married couple!

“Busy with looking for clues about finding Venus, yes.” I clarify while clearing my throat and Maria laughs.

All commotions stop when the handset lights up. It's basically a magical handset that lets you call and see the people you are speaking with.

We all stand up straight and take our positions. I stand beside Maurice while on the other side is Dwayne and behind us are Oswald and Maria. When Maurice presses a button on the handset, the light expands and a sort of hologram shows with three male wolves standing.

I guess that the one who stands in the middle is Alpha Joseph. The first thing I notice is his hazel eyes. They are so bright and so clear such that it's pretty to look at.

The second thing I notice about him is his smile. Unlike most Alphas that I've met before who are usually overly intimidating even if they smile, he looks like he's just genuinely and happily smiling.

The other man beside him has a stern and serious look, unlike his Alpha. And the other man on his left, who has similar features as his Alpha only stands with a smile.

“Greetings, Alpha Maurice and your interesting Luna there.” Joseph speaks.

I try looking at their surroundings that are projected through the handset and I try to see if there are any traces of Venus.

“Greetings, Alpha Joseph. I'm sorry to have called upon you so suddenly like this, but we have urgent matters to discuss regarding the growing number of stray wolves.” Maurice stops and looks towards me first before continuing. “And my mate seems to have a reason to believe that you will be of great help.”

Joseph raises his brow and looks straight at us... or that's how it seems. But looking closely in his eyes, he's looking at something else, not at us though.

“Interesting, shall we hear it, Luna Stacy?” He says rather amused.

So, he knows me....mmmh.

“Greetings, Alpha. I'm sure you already know that I am a warrior of the moon goddess.” I state.

“Who doesn't know of you? An Omega to a Luna, you made a name for yourself.” He says. By the sound of his words, you would think that he's flattering or being sarcastic, but I don't mind it.

I simply nod. “So you must know that there are three other warriors and I'm currently looking for all of them. And I believe that your mate is one of them!”

The three men of the west stare at me for a good few seconds. The two men behind look at each other and pass questioning looks.

Oh no, is it possible that he hasn't met her yet?

Impossible, they've already met and I already saw it in my dreams.

Recovering from the shock, Joseph rubs the temple of his head as he chuckles.

“I'm sorry, Luna. What you are saying is actually quite hard to believe because I haven't met my mate yet.” Joseph says and smiles.

Impossible. I don't believe him!

But then again he doesn't sound like he's lying.

So are my dreams wrong? Have I been hanging onto false information?

No, that can't be!

He must be hiding her. Or hiding the fact that he has already found his mate. Yes, that would make sense. After all, he hasn't announced to his Pack that he has found his mate already.

I return the cunning Alpha's smile.

“Please, don't lie to me Alpha because I know she's there with you. Hmm, perhaps behind the three of you? You seem to be very interested on what's behind you!”

At that moment, his clear eyes turn icy, sending me a dangerous glare. Maurice immediately tenses up beside me at the threat that Joseph is sending, but I hold my hand out, holding Maurice back as an assurance to him that I'm capable of handling this by my own.

“Are you calling me a liar, Luna? Why do you not believe my words when I have already told you that I haven't met my mate yet. Are you trying to start a conflict between us?” His amused tone is gone already. He's definitely done with the formalities.

Alright, so that's how he wants to play it. Cool!

I close my eyes for a bit and let the power flow through. When I open them again, I know that my eyes are now a glowing grey and a lying down crescent has probably also appeared in my pupils.

An added strand of my hair also turns grey whenever I decide to use this power, the power of the moon warrior.

As one of the moon goddess' warriors, I can see the rest have a hard time keeping their heads up. That's another proof that Joseph is a Warrior's mate. Only our mates would be able to stand it when we are in our warrior forms.

Joseph sighs. “Fine. I apologize, great Warrior of the South, Wendy. Yes, I have already met my mate.” He finally admits, making me to smile in victory.
