Chapter 19 Charlotte is back!
Joshua's smile froze, and he chuckled, "Mr. Hughes, this loan is for the company, not for her personally. Can't I handle it instead?"
"What kind of person are you?" Matthew Parker's face turned cold as he pointed towards the door. "Get out and bring Charlotte here to handle it!"
"Mr. Hughes, I..."
"Get out!"
Matthew Parker yelled harshly.
Joshua's body trembled, feeling like a defeated dog, and he hurriedly ran out.
"That damn Daniel, he ruined me!"
Outside the bank, Joshua gritted his teeth in anger and immediately dialed Daniel's phone.
"Has Charlotte been caught?" Daniel answered the call.
"She hasn't been caught at all!" Joshua raged, "You've ruined me. That gold card is real, not fake!"
"How is that possible?" Daniel didn't believe it.
"Mr. Hughes called the company and asked Charlotte to handle the loan process. How could it be impossible?" Joshua was extremely frustrated. "Now that Charlotte has disappeared, Mr. Hughes won't process the loan for me. I'm going back empty-handed. My grandfather will kill me!"
"Your family is a major customer, right? Quickly make a call and have Mr. Hughes make an exception for me!" Daniel remained silent for a few seconds before hanging up and dialing Matthew Parker's number. Matthew Parker is their big client, and Daniel has had dinner with him before, so he has his number.
"Daniel, what's up?" Matthew Parker asked with a smile.
"Mr. Hughes, did you make a mistake? The backside of Charlotte's big client gold card is filled with dragons and doesn't have the cardholder's signature. It's clearly forged. Why did you approve her loan?" Daniel expressed his confusion.
Matthew Parker explained, "That card is the only exception among all the gold cards for major clients. It is also the most precious one, far more distinguished than your father's card."
After speaking, Matthew Parker hung up the phone directly.
Daniel was completely bewildered.
Michael, that useless guy, managed to get his hands on such an extraordinarily big client gold card?
He could hardly believe it!
Soon, Joshua received a message from Daniel "Matthew Parker hung up on me. You'll have to find a solution on your own."
"Damn it!"
Joshua was infuriated.
He cursed Daniel's ancestors and came up with no solution. He could only dejectedly return to the company.
"I suppose it didn't work out, did it?"
Seeing Joshua return looking downcast, Gary Wright already knew the outcome wasn't favorable.
"Grandfather, please let me explain. Charlotte applied for the loan herself, and she has to be there to receive it. Even if it were me, I couldn't handle it on her behalf," Joshua lied.
As soon as Gary Wright heard this, he exploded. He grabbed the pen holder on the table and threw it at Joshua.
"You troublemaker! Afraid that Charlotte would take the loan and stabilize the position of the president, you fabricate a bunch of lies to frame her. It's ridiculous that I actually believed your nonsense, causing Charlotte to suffer greatly and bringing immense impact to the company."
At this point, Gary Wright angrily and sternly shouted, "Starting from today, you have no place in this company. Don't ever step foot in here again!"
"Please, Grandfather, no!"
Joshua knelt down with a thud, his face filled with tears as he tried to explain, "I am your own grandson. It's true that I wanted to become the president, but I also wanted the company to prosper. How could I refuse a loan of one billion for the sake of becoming the president?"
"If it weren't for Daniel's solemn assurance that the gold card was fake, I wouldn't have overreacted. Besides, I called the bank's customer service, and you heard it too. Customer service confirmed that the big client gold card doesn't have any dragons. Who would have thought that even customer service could deceive people?"
"Grandfather, I am truly more innocent than Lady Du. Even though I caused such a huge misunderstanding,
"But I really care about the Carter family and the company. I'm genuinely afraid that the gold card is fake. If we don't tell them in advance, when something goes wrong, it will ruin the reputation of the Carter family and the company!"
"Grandfather, please spare me. I won't dare to handle such important matters recklessly anymore. If the company didn't have me, Michael, that useless person, wouldn't have helped Charlotte secure the loan. Charlotte would definitely change her attitude towards him. When the time comes, if Grandfather gets old, the company might be surnamed Davis instead of Harris, Grandfather!"
Upon hearing the last sentence, Gary Wright's heart tightened.
Wright Group was his lifework. How could he let it become Bennett Group?
With this thought in mind, he suppressed his anger and said, "Get up."
"Thank you, Grandfather!"
Joshua felt like he had received a reprieve and realized that his whole body was soaked in cold sweat when he stood up.
"Go to the second son's house."
With these words, Gary Wright walked away in big strides, followed closely by Joshua and the members of the Carter family.
Soon, the group arrived at the home of the second son, Robert.
As soon as Sophia saw Joshua, she became extremely jealous, as if she had seen an enemy. She grabbed a broom and fiercely beat him.
"I let you, you damn scoundrel, frame Charlotte! I'll beat you to death! If anything happens to Charlotte, I'll make sure you rot in hell..."
"Enough! “Gary Wright shouted loudly.
Sophia finally stopped, realizing that the broom was broken. She angrily smashed the broomstick on the ground and yelled, "Charlotte is gone, why don't you help me find her? Why did you come to my house? Do you want to see me cry, see me panic, and see me suffer?"
"Sister, calm down." Richard advised, "Charlotte has received higher education and has even studied abroad. She's not that emotionally fragile. She won't have any problems. She must be hiding because she's afraid of being arrested by the police."
"Although her phone is off, I believe she must be secretly following this matter. Once she realizes that the police don't intend to arrest her, she will let her guard down and might come back home soon."
Sophia thought it made sense, but she was still angry and hummed, "If Charlotte comes back, I won't let her work at your company. With her MBA degree, is she afraid of not finding a job that pays over ten thousand?"
"What do you mean our company? Doesn't your family have a share in it?" Joshua retorted unhappily.
"The old man kicked our whole family out. What share do we have? I won't let my daughter work for you!" Sophia erupted.
"Unless you take back what you said last night, your family will still receive dividends, and Charlotte will act as the CEO, right?" Gary Wright squeezed out these words between his teeth.
"That's about right!"
Having achieved their purpose, Sophia calmed down.
He relaxed a lot and sat on the sofa, waiting. He waited until three in the afternoon. Suddenly! With a click sound, the front door was opened, and Michael and Charlotte walked in. "Charlotte, you finally came back!" Everyone in the hall became overjoyed. Gary Wright was particularly happy and excitedly urged, "Charlotte, the gold card is real, not fake. Mr. Hughes called early in the morning asking you to handle the loan procedures. We might be getting anxious!"
"Really?" Charlotte covered her mouth in astonishment. Although she had been at the hotel all day without the police coming to her door, making her suspect that the gold card was likely real, it was still just a suspicion and not confirmed. Until this moment, she finally confirmed that the gold card was real and that she and Michael were falsely accused. The excitement she felt was indescribable.
"Absolutely true!" Gary Wright replied with a certain tone, then picked up a bag of documents and urged, "Quickly take the documents to the bank to find Mr. Hughes. It's a one billion interest-free loan for one year. Go and process it!"
Charlotte was about to receive the documents. "Hold on!" Michael suddenly held her back, looked directly at Gary Wright, and said firmly, "If you want Charlotte to handle the loan, you must agree to three conditions for me."
Saying that, he took out a receipt from Charlotte's bag. "First, this is the amount I and Charlotte spent since leaving the president's office. It adds up to two million, which Joshua should reimburse."
"Second, with the one billion interest-free loan, we save more than four million in interest for a year. The money saved from the interest should be given to Charlotte."
"Third, because of Joshua's false accusation, I had my arm slashed with a Kitchen knife by my mother-in-law. I need to retaliate by slashing Joshua's arm with the same Kitchen knife."
"Agree to these three conditions, and I will let Charlotte handle the loan procedures for the gold card. If you don't agree, Charlotte and I will start our own company and use the funds by ourselves."
"Think about it carefully."
