Chapter 60 60

Chapter 60 60
Mira's legs curled as she picked a pancake from the tray, her fingers swiping across her phone as she strolled through Instagram.
Her Instagram account has been in existence for too long, but she hasn't been visiting it, probably because she didn't have the time or she didn't feel like it.
But right now, even as her mind felt reluctant, her fingers weren't. They moved against her wish and she's already on her wall, scrolling through it while biting on her pancake softly.
She clicked the search box, then heaved deeply as her fingers rested on it. She huffed, then shook her head frantically.
'Do you regret it?'
'But to you, it was just the same like the others and I understand. Just take care and be yourself.'
Those words from Fleur pierced her heart and she sighed, pressing her lips together.
Why was she suddenly thinking about him? His words?
She can still remember the way his face scrunched up that day—in hurt, in pain, in disappointment or whatever, she didn't know.
She couldn't place her hand on it. But what she knew was that his expression shifted.
Her fingers finally moved and she began to type in the words she dreaded in the search box.
Fleur Louis.
But nothing showed up—of course it did, but none had Fleur's pictures in it. How could she possibly be dunce? There's no way he's the only Fleur Louis in existence, there are tons of them.
She didn't even know why she was searching for his handle, but at the same time, she couldn't control herself. She couldn't stop even though she wanted to.
She hissed, and then made an attempt to leave when something caught her attention.
Flouzzy95
That was the only profile that stood out and also with that name.
What was that name supposed to mean? Crisp!!
But she clicked on it anyway.
And then it came, a picture —on his profile. Not his full face though, but his side profile, which she was fast to pick out was him.
She could recognize that physique wherever she sees it, be it his full face or even his side profile.
Even before she could control herself, she found herself scrolling through his wall. A smile appeared on the corner of her lips as she laid down completely, then she clicked on the follow button, her lips pressed together as another sharp exhale escaped her throat.
_______
Sheila had already finished her morning meal which arrived thirty minutes ago—eggs and pancakes.
Although she didn't quite eat the way she wanted to, she had to stop as soon as she remembered Arthur's words.
All she wanted to do at that point was grab her purse, flag down a cab and get the heck away from this place, but knowing Celeste will probably pay for her misconduct, she decided to stay back.
Arthur has finally succeeded in clipping her wings—he found a weakness of hers with Celeste and not like she couldn't go against him, but she didn't want to drag Celeste further into this.
If she could remember clearly, the contract stated that they weren't to butt in on the affairs of each other but Arthur was deliberately doing that.
He really wants to know what she can do.
She sighed then picked her phone from her purse, swiping through it.
Staying alone in that mansion was one thing but staying here was a complete new thing, it was a suicide mission.
Murderous.
She hissed angrily, her fingers swiping across the screen of her phone, cluelessly, with no place in mind to even click.
Then a message popped in, from Arthur.
She was skeptical at first but she finally decided to click on it.
–> If you're done with the meal, the door is open, meet me in.
And I hope you had your fill? Like I said, you'll need the strength to scream my name.
Sheila's grip on her phone tightened as she glanced at the door, her brain and mind hazy.
God help her not to do something crazy to Arthur even before they go halfway in the contract marriage of a thing.
She can't believe she's barely stayed upto a week in the marriage and it feels like she's losing her sanity.
She's not even herself and she can't stand up for herself like she used to, really pathetic, but heck? Everything ends after a year—that's only if Arthur doesn't push her to commit something grave.
She finally pushed herself up from the seat then stood and with heavy, steady steps she sauntered towards the door.
When she got close, she didn't bother to knock, she pushed the door open to reveal Arthur, sitting on the edge of the bed, a small table which had a laptop on it before him.
He lifted his face from the laptop when he sensed her presence then he smiled —which Sheila tagged as a mischievous smile.
That smile he gives out whenever he's about to say something annoying, something that will really piss her off.
He gestured for her to sit down which she did without a word, her shoulders still lifted high as she maintained her composition.
The last thing she wants to do now is to flinch before Arthur, she'd rather have her tongue sliced off than let him see her expression flatten.
Arthur closed the laptop, then crossed his legs on the other, a smirk dancing across his lips.
“How was the breakfast? Your —”
“You didn't call me in here to ask this, did you?” Sheila's brows furrowed, her teeth clenched slightly and Arthur chuckled —a mean, intimidating chuckle.
“And what if I did call you in because of that?” his lips curved, amusement painting his lips.
“I'll pretend I came in here on my own then,” Sheila snarled, her voice cold.
“But I'm convinced that's not why you called me in, you can stop hitting around things and say the word already?” Sheila retorted with a smile, her palm on her jaw as she stared at Arthur who shrugged.
“Tomorrow is Ethan Lavoie's wedding, I guess you know him. I don't have to start giving you a history breakdown, do I?” he questioned with a knitted brow and Sheila chuckled, leaning back against her seat.
“Your cousin brother.” She replied.
“And yes of course, I know him, so you don't really have to say everything. I already know more than I should,” Sheila replied, her expression not flattering for once.
“Since you do, I'll have to go straight to it then. We're attending his wedding and —”
“To show off?” Sheila cut him off with a huff.
“It wasn't stated that I follow you to every occasion or function, or was it? Because I can't remember it being said in the contract I signed.” Sheila added, her voice dripping with malice and anger .
“Calm down, it's too early to shout. I told you, you'll need the energy to scream my name,” he reemphasized and it took Sheila all her self-control not to burst out laughing hard.
Scream his name?
What a joke. She was already more than prepared for him and she promised herself not to waste a drop of her energy on Arthur, not when he was knowingly doing everything to get her pissed off.
“The event starts off in the morning and if you have forgotten, Sheila Grey —” he paused, then leaned in.
“I'll do you a courtesy of refreshing your memory,” he scowled. “It was stipulated in the contract you signed that we're going to present ourselves like a real couple, outside the walls of my mansion. And there's nothing called love between us. I don't love you, I don't have plans to and it's expected you do the same, you're not to develop any slightest feeling for me and —”
“I'd rather crawl with my fingers than fall in love with you, the fúck are you sprouting? I know about all that. Stop sounding as if you're worth my love,” Sheila cut him off with a snarl, her neck already stiffened as the anger swirling around her threatened to explode, but she held in, determined not to let him see her anger.
She wasn't going to give him that expression he wanted to see so desperately.
“You probably must have forgotten, and I'm being kind enough to refresh your memory,” Arthur simply replied, his voice dripping with mockery.
Then he tilted his head slightly, “Since everything stated in the contract is still fresh in your memory, then let's not drag this further. We're attending Ethan's wedding tomorrow and like I said, we're to present ourselves like real couples.” he said and Sheila heaved, fingers digging into her palms.
“And I'll be kind enough to let you choose your dress tomorrow, I was scrolling through dresses online and I found some, why don't you come over here and make your choice?” he requested and Sheila hissed, then swirled her phone on his face.
“I can quickly search for something online, and have you pay for it. Why don't we do it that way? Mr anti-Christ?” She narrowed her gaze, her lips curled and Arthur gasped, his expression shifting slowly.
Anti-Christ? Was that the name she gave him?
