Chapter 49 49

Chapter 49 49
A thick sigh filtered out of Mira's throat as she stopped in front of a grocery store.
She alighted from the car then paid off the cab driver. As she bolted inside, her nose flared and her brows furrowed as she saw the store's door locked.
She huffed, glancing at her wrist-watch. It wasn't yet time for those store owners to close for the day, so what could have prompted them into doing that today?
Today of all days she decided to pick something from the grocery store?
She stomped her foot then turned to leave when a car drove roughly past her.
A gasp as she stepped back, almost cussing at the driver for his careless driving.
But then, the car halted and as Mira stared with a blazing gaze, the car made a reverse and began driving back, piquing Mira's interest.
Who was the lunatic to drive so roughly and still have the nerves to reverse back?
Her grip on her bag tightened, teeth clenched as she waited for the driver to get close.
The driver of the car lowered the window of the car then popped out his head.
Mira's eyes widened as another gasp escaped her throat, making Fleur smile widely.
“Jerk!!” She seethed with a scoff, glaring at him.
“I’m sorry for my careless driving,” he snickered. “I was in a rush that's why I almost knocked you out,” he added.
Mira scoffed, crossing her arms. “And you think sorry would have fixed the shit if anything happened to me?” She retorted, voice dripping with anger.
“My boss is one scary man, couldn't keep him waiting.” he said, his voice calm and collected.
“Indeed, your boss is so messed up.” She scoffed within her, then glanced up at Fleur, a teasing smile appearing on her lips.
“Apology accepted, can you continue driving now?” Mira whispered with a mocking smile.
Fleur huffed, then pushed open the door, “You stranded? I can help —”
Mira groaned heavily, making the rest of his sentence stuck back in his throat, “Save the gentleman gesture. It doesn't suit you,” She snapped and Fleur shrugged.
“I guess I'm trying,” he grinned, “I only need to be perfect,” he added and Mira let out a dry chuckle.
“A perfect gentleman, what an irony.” She huffed, then turned.
She made an attempt to walk out when Fleur shot his hand forward, grabbing her arm.
“And I refuse to let you go,” he snorted stubbornly and Mira's brows knitted, chest constricting as she glared at him.
Suddenly, she smiled, confusing Fleur.
She yanked her hands off from his grip then leaned in, “Tell me, what exactly do you want?” She sneered.
“A second chance? For a night stand thingy? Or?” She furrowed her brows and Fleur turned his head to the other side, smacking his lips in confusion.
What was she saying?
“Suddenly can't move your tongue, huh?” Mira taunted and Fleur returned his gaze to her, then a smile.
”And what if I want to?” His lips curled and Mira's heart slammed into her chest, fingers digging into her palms.
Memories of that night flooded her mind, slamming into her like a tidal wave.
The moans.
The screams.
The smooching.
His brutal thrusting.
Everything, all of it replayed in her mind and her cunt clenched, shoulders stiffening.
What in Pete's name was wrong with her body? Why was it reacting this way?
Noticing how uncomfortable she was, he smirked. “Will you let me?” he grinned, going closer to her.
Mira scoffed loud, stepping back from him.
“Quit being delusional, you're never screwing my hole, ever again,” She jibbed, pressing her lips together and Fleur stifled in a laughter, raising his palms in surrender.
“Alright, alright!! I won't screw your hole again, but can you get in let's go? We've taken much time here already,” he said, his voice calm but laced with pleas.
Mira stared at him, her heart still racing then she sighed.
Fleur was adamant and wasting another second here with him is definitely fruitless, she didn't have that luxury.
With another glare at him, she scoffed.
“Don’t ever cross paths with me, ever again.” She warned savagely, tone dripping with malice and she opened the car door.
Fleur smiled briefly, getting in too and within minutes, they were gliding softly on the road.
Mira leaned back against the seat, shutting her eyes as Fleur controlled the steering.
She wasn't sleeping, she just rested back on the seat, probably avoiding starting any conversation with Fleur.
Two minutes went by, then four and there was no exchange of words between the two.
The tension stretched and the silence choked, the air thick with unspoken words.
Finally, Fleur snapped his gaze towards her, clearing his throat softly to get her attention.
Mira waved her finger —a sign that she wasn't ready for any conversation.
“I don't know your house,” Fleur said softly instead, hoping that would ignite a conversation.
It did work. Mira's rues flickered open and she turned to him, eyes blazing with fury.
“So where the hell are you taking me to?” She snarled .
“Is this another cheap way of kidnapping people?” She flared, shoulders convulsing.
A short laughter escaped fleur's throat as he turned to take a glimpse at her, then he continued laughing, his cheeks stretching so much in expense of Mira's burning rage.
He stopped laughing, his face flushed with redness as he turned back to her, “Seriously?” he smirched, an amused grin appearing on his lips.
Mira huffed, still glaring at him.
“Can you stop being dramatic and tell me where you live, huh?” He muttered softly and Mira twitched her lips, rolling her eyes.
“You can figure it out, mister,” she said, voice draped with sarcasm.
Fleur only smiled, not uttering any more word. He returned his attention on the road, his palms holding professionally on the steering as he drove.
Mira stared at him for a brief moment, then took her gaze away from him.
She exhaled, puffing out air from her mouth as she stared at the blurred trees on the roadside, her mind suddenly drifting.
“Do you regret it?” Fleur's voice sliced through her thoughts like a blade.
“Huh?” her gaze narrowed as she turned to him, eyes flickering with confusion —or maybe, she feigned pretence.
Fleur turned to her, then his throat bubbled as he swallowed a lump.
“I mean, the night stand thingy,” His voice was rasp and Mira gave out a smile, behind that smile was hidden something deep.
Nervousness.
Her fingers trembled slightly and her face turned pale, but she was fast enough to mask everything.
“Night stands aren't meant to be regretted,” she whispered, “Especially with someone like me,” She smiled and Fleur's heart twisted, her words echoing continuously in his mind.
'Someone like her'
Who was she? A whore? A stripper?
“Someone like you? I don't get it,” he finally found his voice and murmured.
Mira chuckled lightly, “For someone who's acquainted with night stands, it's no longer a big deal.”
Those words pierced Fleur's chest like a sharp sword, ripping his hearts apart as his grip on the steering tightened.
His heart pounded—in anger, in pain, in agony and in what he couldn't name.
She was a whore. A bitch even. How could he?! How?
Mira smiled, then relaxed back on the seat, heart thumping.
Maybe this was the best way to get him off her tail. Once a night stand will always remain like that, no fucking strings attached.
She needed to set boundaries and let him know she was off the league, no matter the reason for his clinginess, he should at least know that.
Fleur suddenly shook his head, his once dead spirit suddenly returning, “There’s no special feelings attached?” he inquired.
“At least, there has to a difference.” he added and Mira chuckled lightly.
“Sadly, there's no difference.” She replied. “I’ve had different sizes stuck in my hole, but they all feel the same. That one feeling, nothing special.” She replied and Fleur's face finally dropped.
There wasn't any difference. Even when he gave her the best night and had her screaming and moaning, it didn't make any difference to her.
It didn't! She didn't see him as someone who's more than a night stand partner.
He was wrong. Why did he think his would be different, because she moaned his name?
A silly joke. He must have deceived himself.
He did.
And… and why was her words are hurting this bad. There wasn't any special feelings attached or anything, why was he affected by her response?
He must have lost his damn sense.
The car suddenly stopped in front of Mira's apartment. She already gave him the address long time before they started this discussion.
Mira opened the car door and climbed down, “Thanks for the ride,” She muttered and tried to close the door when Fleur's words made her stop.
“That night wasn't just any night to me,” he said softly, then smiled at her.
“But to you, it was just the same like the others and I understand. Just take care and be yourself.” he said, his eyes flickering with sincerity.
Before Mira could even say a word, the car door closed and Fleur drove out of the environment, leaving Mira's jaw open and chest tightened.
