Chapter 48 48

Chapter 48 48
As Ted drove Sheila to the company, her heart raced and her thoughts pounded over Arthur's words on the note. Her mind lingered and her shoulders convulsed —in confusion, anger, irritation and rage.
She pulled the paper out of her purse since she had earlier picked it up from the floor and placed it inside her purse.
With a sigh and one last glance at the writing, Sheila tore the notes into pieces, exhaling loudly.
Screw Arthur and his silly words.
She pinched the bridge of her nose then leaned back against the headrest, shutting her eyes briefly.
The gentle humming sound of her ringing phone pierced through her thoughts, snapping her out. She opened her eyes and pulled the phone out.
Her brows furrowed, a call from Andrew.
Without much hesitation, she swiped the green icon, massaging her jaw as she placed the phone lightly on her left ear.
→ Good morning ma'am, I called last night but the call was redirected to voicemail. I sent you an email but I'm still shocked that you haven't replied or said anything.’ He said slowly and Sheila sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose.
Yesterday night was a freaking mess for her, she didn't even have time to review or go through her emails.
→I’m sorry Andrew, was caught up with something so I couldn't go through my emails. What was the email you sent about?’ She narrowed her gaze slightly.
→Mr. Davit and Mr. Levan wanted to buy some shares last night and I thought to ask you first if we should proceed.’ he informed and Sheila's face turned pale, the names resounding loudly in her ears.
The two major shareholders after Arthur, withdrew their shares without any explainable reason.
What the heck did they want again?
She hissed, then transferred the phone to the other hand, “I don't understand the reason they suddenly want to buy shares, did they forget it hasn't been up to one week they pulled out?” Sheila's brows thickened as she rolled her eyes, nose flaring up slightly.
→ I'll inform them that the company is currently not available…. Hold on —’
Andrew paused talking to stare with wide eyes, Sheila impatiently tapped her fingers on the leather of the car's seat, then Arthur's voice came.
→ Mr. Davit and Mr. Levan is here, ma'am,’ his voice dropped to a whisper as he informed Sheila.
Sheila's fingers curled tight around her phone, clenching.
→ Entertain them, I'm almost close to the company.’
She informed him, then a beep, the call ended.
They were here to see her? After withdrawing from her company? She huffed, teeth clenched.
This is ridiculous.
She wasn't angry they pulled out from her company, she was more angry because they pulled out when her company was at the verge of crumbling.
Even when she stayed awake all night, struggling to convince them, they refused blatantly, and now?
A petty joke.
Ted's feet marched the brakes and the car jerked gently, knocking Sheila out of her thoughts.
Before Ted could even open the car, Sheila already climbed down the car, she met Andrew waiting for her outside the company.
“I’ll come by 6pm to pick you up, ma'am.” Ted said softly and Sheila rolled eyes, ignoring him.
“Where are they?” She turned to Andrew and demanded, already walking inside the company.
“I have them sit at the company's eatery with a little refreshment.” he muttered and Sheila smiled eerily.
“Discussing about this over a mug of coffee will be okay. I'll meet them there. Attend to other works in my stead, though I won't take much time,” She stated, taking her left while Andrew headed right.
Sheila's face twisted as she glanced at them through the transparent glass. Both Davit and Levan were discussing while taking time to smile.
She snorted, then walked to them.
They stood once they saw her, “Good morning, Miss Grey.” They shot forth their palms for a shake but Sheila only cast them a smile—a smile which didn't reach her eyes, then she sat, leaving their hands hanging
A punch on their guts.
Both men exchanged glances then slowly sat down. It was obvious that just a single gesture from Sheila already said much words and they knew that it wouldn't be easy for them.
They were in for some real shit, all thanks to Arthur.
“I got a message from my assistant about you two trying to buy some shares from my company, care to enlighten me about the sudden change of heart? If I can remember, you both were adamant, what changed?” She questioned curiously, leaning back on the chair as she slurped her coffee, gently, steadily, inquisitively, her gaze fixed on them as she studied.
She was already served by the waiter.
Her expression remained hidden, lips curling.
They exchanged glances once more.
Mr. Davit gulped in a lump while Mr. Levan let out a nervous chuckle.
Then Mr. Davit spoke, “I knew pulling out shares from the Company when you were facing the company crisis was terrible of us to do. But we were worried because instead of the incomes progressing, it was the opposite.” He replied and Sheila chuckled, her neck stiffening.
She dropped the cup of coffee, then glanced over at Mr Levan. “You pulled out because of the same reason?” Sheila asked slowly, her tone calm but laced with venom.
Mr. Levan heaved, “I won't say otherwise, that was exactly the reason.” he murmured and Sheila smiled dryly.
“And I respectfully demand to know why the both of you decided to buy stocks from a crumbling company. Have you forgotten? It's a win-win investment, what if it crumbles completely? Mr Davit and Levan,” She retorted through gritted teeth and Mr Davit heaved.
“Honestly speaking, I wasn't comfortable after I pulled out. I can remember when Mr Grey was still alive and how much he valued this company. I've been a stockholder for a long time and believe me, I couldn't ignore my conscience.” Mr. Davit muttered, his eyes flickering with genuineness.
“And can I add that we didn't really want to pull out no matter how bad the company was?” Mr Levan chirped in and Mr Davit's gaze snapped to him, his eyes communicating a sign to Levan not to say a word.
Adamantly, Levan continued. “After we were offered a good Ransom by the highest stockholder, we were tempted.” he concluded breathlessly and Sheila's head tilted, her expression switching instantly to shock
Highest stockholder? That's Arthur Wilson.
That jerk ass.
Mr Davit buried his face on the floor, as his face turned sour, expression mixing.
He couldn't bring himself to look at Sheila's face.
What the hell has Levan done? He complicated things. That dumbass.
Levan smiled widely. That's right!! He did best by letting Sheila know they weren't in this alone.
After a brief silence, Sheila snapped her gaze back to Levan, chest squeezing and jaw hardened. “Elaborate.” She said coldly, her voice firm and commanding.
“Days ago, we got a message and were told to pull out our shares, in exchange, we would be rewarded with a good profit share which we would never have made from the investment with your company. It was a heavy sum, hence we couldn't ignore it.” he explained further.
A heavy silence.
Sheila stared at them with that petrified gaze, her gaze lingering on their faces, her mind googling different ways to deal with Arthur.
She knew he might be crazy, a freak even but what she didn't expect was him paying off her stockholders just for him to achieve his silly goal.
Sheila's eyes spiralled, her gaze turned murderous and her teeth locked, in a crushing grit.
Mr Davit's heart clenched, his conscience eating him up. He shouldn't have listened to Arthur, he really shouldn't have.
He didn't wrong only Sheila but also late Mr. Grey.
How would he feel? Gosh!! He did bad, big time.
Even when she pleaded, he was foolishly adamant. He won't be surprised if Sheila refuses to let them buy stocks.
They deserve it and he'll live with the guilt—he personally deserves it.
Then Sheila stood, the chair scraping behind her, “You can probably go to his company and buy stocks, trust me, there's more revenue there than here,” She blurted and Davit's mouth dropped open in shock, Levan stood, eyes wide.
“Miss Grey….” They began.
“This conversation is over,” Sheila cut them off with a spiteful glare.
They only stared with wide eyes as she grabbed her purse then bolted out of the cafeteria, no exchange of words or even a last glance at them. She just walked, heavily, her heels hitting the floor in mad rage.
Arthur!! First was the note he left earlier in the morning and now this? He definitely must have prepared a lot of shocks for her, no doubt.
She finally got inside and met Andrew tapping away on the keyboard, “Skip anything about my schedules and brief me on the market analysis. How terrible have things gone?” She demanded impatiently.
“There’s a difference of 1% increase, fingers crossed as we hope for the best.” he replied and Sheila sighed, finally settling down on the enigmatic office chair.
1%? That was still poor.
“I got to understand that once a company crumbles or even almost, it is hard for investors to invest back into the company or for people to order things from the company, but it seems like there's a dim light at the end of the tunnel, we only hope for it to get brighter.” Andrew explained further and Sheila heaved, exhaling softly.
“You’ve done well, Andrew.” She said, leaning back against the chair when her phone beeped.
She groaned slightly, picking the phone to see a message from Arthur.
“Speak of the devil's incarnate,” She muttered with an eye roll, clicking on the message.
Her grip on her phone tightened as her eyes turned crimson, anger and hatred coursing through her veins.
