Chapter 19
We had our first big fight.
"I thought you didn't like her, but you still slept with her?" I shouted.
"Do you even know what you're saying?" he looked at me for a moment, sighed, and said, "I went out to take care of something."
"You jerk; this is what you went out to take care of?" I threw the box at him, and the condoms spilled all over the floor.
His gaze grew heavy, "You went through my things?"
"You bought them yourself, used them, and you're still afraid of others going through them?"
"How am I a jerk?" he got angry too, "I've been taking care of you for months, have I starved you or mistreated you? I can't even keep plants alive for more than three days. Do you have any gratitude?"
We argued without resolution, deadlocked.
In the end, he compromised and softened his tone. "What's really going on with you?"
"I just can't stand seeing you with that other woman," I boldly said.
He froze for a moment, "Are you sure you're okay?"
"What's the problem?"
"I'm already 31 years old, isn't it normal to have a woman? Why are you getting jealous? Don't you have any problems yourself?"
"Can't I be jealous?" I asked him.
"Jealousy is something that lovers do. Can you differentiate our relationship?" he countered.
"So, can't I be your lover?" I clenched my teeth and finally asked the question that had been bothering me for a long time.
"Of course not," he replied, thinking his answer was too straightforward and a bit hurtful. He added, "I am already 31 years old, I am like your uncle, and you are just a child."
"Not even in the future?"
"No."
"I understand."
I felt overwhelmed and lost.
After hesitating for a while, I picked up my bag and headed towards the door.
"Where are you going?" his voice came from behind.
I ignored him, feeling suffocated, and wanting to go outside for some fresh air.
"Stop, are you being disobedient?"
"You have it your way, if you leave, you don't ever come back," he threatened.
I couldn't listen to his threats and ran away directly.
