Field of neophytes

A few hours later I arrived at the mansion , apparently the tension from the argument with Sasha had subsided and everything was calm . Although everyone's countenance was not good .

"Grandpa I'm back , I have good news Ara..."

"You rescued your father we know " He said interrupting me .

"Yes , and a pack of wolves distracted him so he could escape back . You were seen our fighting positions "

I commented ecstatic about the whole experience , not realizing that something else was going on .

"Wait, how did you know I rescued my father, did Carmina..."

"Carmina arrived a couple of minutes ago with your father in her arms " Interrupted the coyote , before I asked the question .

"Then , if my father is here safe and sound , I do not understand why these faces of wretchedness and concern . I managed to rescue my father and come out of the battle alive , isn't that a reason for everyone to rejoice ?"

I looked at them firmly , and they all dodged the look .

"I think you still do not see the seriousness of the matter , I must recognize that you had a lot of courage to go out alone and face Araticus to rescue your father , but ..."

"Alone would not be lived for a second "Replico Carmina , as she went downstairs and walked to the room where we were gathered .

"Of course , I forgot that you had the brilliant idea to take the werewolf woman with you , I guess that made it more interesting ."

I wryly commented the coyote , glaring at Carmina with his eyes .

"I supported it when you guys were just discussing your stepmother's loyalty . Which I don't see anywhere , you decided to run her off ,is she no longer part of the happy family ?"

Carmina's sarcasm was somewhat irritating , and the coyote was not someone patient .

"That's none of your business , you don't have to meddle in all the family's affairs ."

The coyote's patience was reaching its limit , and he shook Carmina for a moment , holding her shoulders .

"You're wrong , if there is a traitor among us I must know . I'm part of this team and I have to watch my back ."

Carmina quickly disengaged herself from the coyote's grip and sat down on one of the couches in the living room , arms crossed and gazing intently .

"This is no time for absurd discussions , where is my father?"

I asked firmly .

"Your father is no longer a human , and neither is he an experienced vampire who has control over himself . So we have taken him to the neophyte vampires who are on his level ."

" What do you mean by that ? He's not in the mansion. Where is he now?"

Desperation stole my breath , I couldn't imagine my father surrounded by neophytes .

"He's an hour away from here , in a neophyte camp controlled by our men . Your father is not only a vampire now , but he has a hard time to stop obeying the orders of Araticus . That's why we decided to send him there, it's safer for everyone. I'm sorry for everything that has happened son, you don't deserve so many misfortunes".

Commented the grandfather in a calm and compassionate way .

"You say I don't deserve so much misfortune and yet you sent my father to a camp full of neophytes! What kind of family is this?"

I deliberately shouted , I was disappointed in grandfather . I thought that by bringing my father to the mansion they would lend him all the support he needed so that he could recover from Araticus's dominion .

"Things are not as you think them , the neophyte camp is ..."

"They are a couple of traitors " Espete , looking angrily at the coyote .

"Stop getting into my head and decipher my thoughts , you saw how I went to rescue my father even against all of you and you were not able to put your pride aside to support me , but you take decisions lightly on the life of my father without consulting me ."

I was dejected , I felt betrayed and humiliated by the family I thought I had won , I thought of a quick solution to avoid looking at grandfather and coyote's face for a while .

"I'm leaving , if my father is in that neophyte camp I'll go with him . I don't want to be one minute closer to you ."

I said with a tone of annoyance in my voice , gritting my teeth . As I turned my back on grandfather and coyote .

"Son wait , it's not good for you to be away from the mansion . Araticus must be raging because he no longer has your father kidnapped . He may lash out at you if he finds you alone ."

Grandfather commented , with a tone of concern in his words .

I sketched a half-smirk , turning up the corners of my lips slightly .

"I don't want to offend you grandfather , but I just escaped from the Pocaterra mansion alive and with my father safe . And I didn't need your help , so don't worry about me , I can defend myself ."

I told him without turning to face him .

"You are not alone , my pack and I will fight by your side if necessary ."

The gray wolf had entered the mansion undetected taking his human form , apparently he wanted to show me his loyalty in front of the family .

" Who are you ?"

Asked the coyote with distrust .

"I am someone who is there when you need him ."

Replied gray wolf , with an intense look . Standing face to face a few millimeters from the coyote .

"It would be fun to watch you tear each other apart , let me know when the show starts ."

Carmina commented wryly , her eyes thirsty to watch a big fight .

"I don't want to have any more trouble than I already have ."

I put myself in the middle of the coyote and the gray wolf to avoid a confrontation and get the waters to calm down . Then I turned to leave the Hall mansion for good , even against grandfather and coyote .

"You're taking a risk boy , you're making a big mistake by leaving us this way , think of your mother ."

Grandpa's words boomed in my ears , I couldn't believe he was manipulating me in such a way using my mother as a bait .

"I mean no disrespect grandpa I have already told you , but I will not tolerate you using my mother in such a way , you can leave my mother in the hospital . I won't bother her as long as my father is not fully under control , you can rest easy ."

He looked at me for a moment and said nothing more .

"If you leave this mansion I won't come after you , I don't want to keep wandering in the woods . But you can come to me if you need help at any time ."

Carmina's offer was valid , it was clear that she did not want to give up the comforts that the Hall mansion offered her on the east side . And I didn't expect her to follow me wherever I went either .

"I appreciate your offer if I'm in a pinch I will seek you out , you are the most powerful creature in the forest after all "

She looked at me confidently and appreciated my flattery .

"I'll go with you maybe I'm not welcome where there is a retinue of vampires , but I can watch you from afar and have your back ."

I nodded and then gray wolf and I walked out of the Hall mansion with the shadow of coyote and grandfather's gaze at our backs , and the confident posture of Carmina who stood folded in the middle of her comfort .
