Family approval

in the depths of my heart, because I would never regret it again . However, it gave me a certain sense of belonging to remember those days of innocence in the light.

I leaned my head back a little as I immersed myself in remembering that feeling that the sun used to give me, and then I looked back to the front. I looked in the corner of my eye at the rearview mirror and was shocked by the look on my face after a few minutes of contact with the sun, now I understood why I should not let humans see us in broad daylight.

Not only would our superhuman strength give us away, but our emaciated appearance in front of the light, my eyes became sunken and tired, my bony cheekbones, my gray and split lips, added to the strong sores on my face denoted that I was not just another human that could go unnoticed by the rest. I understood at that moment that just as an adequate dose of the sun's rays provided the human being with freshness and vitamins, in the case of vampires the opposite was true and this was for a strong scientific reason that I had already deduced, we were not alive; we were just simple living dead.

This was the reality , I was only a living dead that moved in the shadows , in the darkest of the twilight , and only then I could keep the fresh and fresh countenance of the skin of a walking immortal corpse . Never would the light of day accept me otherwise, and my body would never take the sun's rays as something positive from which I could benefit in this new life.

Minutes later the few rays of sunlight that had made me look like a zombie on a motorcycle were now hidden behind the canopy of a couple of trees , I checked my face quickly in the rearview mirror , the texture and color of my skin had returned to the new normal I had had months ago , was fresh , smooth and good color . I was seeing the living representation of the face of an angel on the skin of a murderer .

I accelerated the motorcycle to maximum speed looking to drain a little of the anguish that accompanied me and then , I remembered the thing that mattered most to me at that moment and the purpose of my motorcycle trip , the hope that my mother would remember who I was and the place I occupied in her life .

I never thought I would meet anyone in all eternity who would make me think for even a moment that I deserved the light of day on my face. If anyone thought I deserved anything right now despite everything I had been through it was my mother . To look into her eyes and have her acknowledge that I was her son would be like feeling the intense glow of the sun captivating me again and nourishing me to have hope.

I had realized that I had become a rather melancholic and stubborn young man, but also very kind and compassionate. I admit that I also have a lot of accumulated rebellion and it is something that I may not be able to heal in my whole vampire life, but in this long time that I will have in solitary I will use all my abilities to not let it poison me inside.

I arrived after a couple of hours in one of the hospitals where grandfather had told me that those humans protected by vampires were hospitalized. At first glance it looked like an ordinary hospital , but then I noticed that it was not completely full of humans and that there were a number of vampires working undercover to avoid detection by humans .

I got off the motorcycle and got ready to enter one of the main doors , the moment I got ready to enter a very nice lady approached me , her appearance was very similar to that of a vampire , but also denoted a great warmth in her face , her skin was not so pale and her eyes were deep green , they looked so vivid that I got to be confused about their nature.

"You come on behalf of the Hall family, don't you?"

She asked politely, while holding a bundle of papers in her hands, she wore a white long sleeved uniform fitted to her slender silhouette and low white shoes , she wore her hair pulled back in a low ponytail , and a small hat that overhung her head . She looked like a Victorian era nurse .

"Wait a second , how do you know I come from the Hall family ?"

I asked just out of curiosity, I already knew that my grandfather had all the ways to arrange things so that everything would go according to his will.

"Your grandfather left everything ready, for when he decided to come to visit your mother, follow me "

After answering me she turned to turn her back to me, I followed her to wherever she decided to take me .

We walked down a long hallway lit with a dim and sublime light , on either side were closed wooden doors , one with a number carved in the same wood . I guessed they were the rooms of the special patients as grandfather called them .

"It's here , you can go in if you like . I'll be on the other side of the corridor in case anything is offered to you ."

Said the nurse gently , giving me a kind smile where I could see the normal size of her teeth . Which made me think that I had misjudged her , maybe she was a real human .

I stood in front of the door of the room where my mother was resting , the door number was 208 . I inhaled deeply through my nose and decided to place my hand on the doorknob. As I slowly turned the doorknob, I gently pushed it back, looked out of the corner of my eye as I opened the door and could see the silhouette of my mother lying serenely on a wide bed.

Watching her sleeping so warmly and peacefully I took courage , I opened the door halfway so I could enter the room and be next to her .

"Mother how much I missed seeing your pretty face ."

I murmured softly , approaching her bed listening to her breathing closely .

"I'm sorry I got you into this , I promise you that soon things will be back to how they used to be , better than before ."

I caressed her soft and lush face. She had taken on a better countenance than she had when she was at the mansion , grandfather was right bringing her here was the best choice ; even if I can't have her by my side most of the time .

I watched her closely for a long time as she slept , and her eyes began to move slowly making a gentle attempt to open . Her forehead made a moderate gesture of confusion , as a sort of prelude before her eyes finished taking the initiative to allow the dim light of the room to slyly enter them .

"Mother. how are you feeling . Don't try too hard ."

I whispered with a pleading but somewhat anxious tone to see her eyes looking at me, and hear her words .

After between opening her eyes and looking at me in a calm manner , she made a slight gesture to say a few words , but I touched her lips with one of my hands to prevent her from making unnecessary efforts .

"Calm down mother , everything will be fine you must not try to talk . You must be sedated with medicine to keep you from getting excited ."

She heard my words , and the gestures on her face relaxed and gave me a warm smile . Gesture made a short sigh of hope escape me .

"The doctor told me that you need special care , I can't wait for you to be discharged so we can go home and pamper you as you deserve . I'm so sorry you had that accident "

Murmur , trying to coordinate her thoughts to a natural reality where her mind should be . She would never know everything that happened , and I don't know how far she would be willing to digest whatever our lives have become , I hope that when she can be more awake she won't ask about daddy . It would be very difficult for me to create another lie to not tell the truth about my father , and I don't want to imagine how he is going through it at the hands of those monsters .

I looked away from my mother for a moment , to lose myself in my own thoughts of guilt , for having dragged them into this whole situation of uncertainty and danger .

When suddenly I felt my mother squeeze my hand tightly , as if she knew who I was .

"Mother, what's the matter? Tell me, do you know who I am?

I murmured in a desperate and euphoric way hoping for a positive answer .

"Ha. more.... would I forget the love.... of my ....life "
