Chapter 26
Prince Rhyland’s POV
I stood utterly still, staring down at her fuming gaze.
This was it. I’m going to die.
“Rhyland. What did you mean?” She seethed through her teeth as she took a step towards me.
I automatically took a step back, I’m never one to back done from a challenge but in this case, I’d lick the ground to get out of this situation.
“I- well, you see-,”
“Cut the bullshit and tell me.” She spat.
I looked around, anywhere else but directly down at her. Those deep brown eyes would kill me right now if they could.
Hell when she finds out she will want to kill me.
“My father set this up. He wanted me to earn your trust any way possible.” I said and my eyes flew to her as her head dropped to the ground.
I moved forward to touch her face or something, her silence was deafening.
She instantly stepped back and slowly, her face rose with an expression I hadn’t quite imagined she’d be using right now.
She was smiling.. no, laughing. The small chuckle turned into a roaring laughter and she knelt down to slap her leg.
“Wow, that’s so crazy! I had my own agenda too but I guess those are out the window now.”
My eyebrows furrowed and I crossed my arms over my chest, waiting for her to explain but instead she just continued to laugh.
“What do you mean, your own agenda?” I sputtered out and her eyes landed on me finally. Her laughter slowly began to die down and seriousness settled into her facial expressions.
“I guess we both were involved with the wrong reasons right?”
She shook her head and turned from me but I quickly reached out and grabbed her arm.
“No, Raven. My father had a hand in it but I’ve never felt something so real.”
Her eyes flew to mine and a soft smile spread on her lips. I could spot a slightly pained look come over her face before she spoke.
“You’re the only one that felt it then.”
With those words, she pulled away from my grasp and walked out the doorway. I couldn’t do anything but watch as she descended down the hallway.
What the fuck just happened?
She didn’t feel the same?..
Elijah’s POV
Stepping out of the room next door to Raven’s old one, I spotted Rhyland standing there with a scowl on his face, he seemed in deep thought.
After listening in on his conversation with Raven I knew exactly what was wrong, but was I going to comfort him? Fuck no.
Instantly, I crossed the hallway being sure not to be seen by him and moved down the stairs with swift movement.
My feet carried my down the main floor hallway and straight towards Cassius’ old room.
Before I could reach it, a hand pushed against my chest causing me to pause.
“Woah there, you okay?” I looked up to see Cassius’ haze eyes filled with concern.
“You’re not going to like this.”
His eyebrows furrowed and he motioned me towards his room with his hand, I moved instantly going into the space.
“What is it?”
How do I say, your sister just blew everything the two of you were working for and her wanna be loved exposed himself for working for his father? Oh wait, like this.
“Your sister just blew everything the two of you were working towards and her wanna be lover exposed himself for working for his father.”
His eyes widened but immediately after turned into slits.
“He did what?!”
I smiled inside my mind, this is my chance.
“He said he was ordered by the king to get close to Raven.”
That only infuriated him even more, good.
“Oh he’s dead. Go check on Raven, I’ll go deal with Rhyland.” He gritted through his teeth and I allowed a small smile to slip through my worried expression.
Bingo.
I nodded and moved across the room to find Raven while Cassius stepped up the stairs in the opposite direction I was headed.
Walking down the hall to the end, a doorway on the right was barely cracked open but I could clearly hear sniffling.
I eased it open and found Raven on the bed crying with her head in her palms.
“What’s wrong??” I rushed to her side with fake panic flooding my voice, she lifted up her head to reveal her eyelashes clung together by her tears.
Pathetic.
She’s too strong to be crying over a boy like Rhyland.
“Nothing, I’m just... stressed is all.” Her small voice spoke and I fell onto the bed beside her, pulling her into a hug.
Even though her answer was complete bullshit, I still had to act as if I didn’t know what was really the matter.
She leaned into my chest and sniffles again, letting a tear fall onto my shirt.
“It’s just, I don’t get it.”
“Get what?”
I brought my hand up and began rubbing her hair gently. This is all I’ve ever wanted, to feel those dark locks between my fingers.
After a moment of silence, she wiped her tears and stood up from the bed and out of my grasp.
“Nothing...I should get going.” She moved to get out of my way and I jumped infront of her to stop her path.
“Why? I thought we were.. ya know, bonding?”
Her eyebrows furrowed and she sent me a fake smile.
“Uh, Elijah are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah. Why wouldn’t I be?” I said with a small chuckle to try and ease the tension but she could see straight through me.
I had to act fast.
Pulling the rope that I had gotten from a witch up north out of my back pocket, I quickly yanked it around her wrists and tied it as tight as I could get it.
Her skin instantly lit up red as the magic of the witches did its work but her shouts were much too loud, someone was going to hear her.
I yanked off my T-shirt and shoved part of it into her mouth then tied the rest behind her head.
“Wow, look at that. Moms going to be really proud once she sees what I’ve got.” I smiled down at her pleading eyes.
Now to go see mother dearest.

This chapter deleted TWICE and I had to rewrite it over. I was so close to having a mental breakdown you guys.
