Chapter 142. Rishima’s Still Alive!

Chapter 142. Rishima’s Still Alive!
Matthew tightened his grip on Emily’s chin, and in an instant, her chin turned red from the force of his hand.
==============================================================================================================
“Because you love me, you grew jealous of Rishima. When Rishima was alive, you went into her hospital room and provoked her until she vomited blood. After she died, you didn’t even let her rest in peace, stealing her body and scattering her ashes in the sea. You must have enjoyed the cruel games you played with her, didn’t you?”
Matthew suddenly shoved Emily against the car, causing her head to slam violently into the car window.
The sharp pain surged through her like a storm, making it unbearable. She could only hold her head with her hands, grimacing in pain, her heart overwhelmed with a feeling of hurt and injustice.
“No, no, I didn’t do that to Rishima, I didn’t do anything!” Emily kept shaking her head.
“How can you shamelessly claim you didn’t do anything?” Matthew gritted his teeth, glaring at Emily. Just thinking about the wicked acts she committed against Rishima made him want to tear her apart!
Rishima was dead, yet she still wouldn’t let go of her body! How could she be so cruel?
“Emily, you are the most disgusting female I’ve ever met in my life.”
Emily kept shaking her head, too drunk to know what she was saying anymore. She didn’t know what she could say or what she couldn’t.
At this moment, she had completely lost all reason, controlled by the alcohol. All she knew was that she didn’t want Matthew to continue misunderstanding her because clearly, she had done nothing wrong!
“It’s not true, Matthew,” Emily looked at him, tears streaming down her face, then shouted, “I didn’t do that to Rishima. There are no ashes, it was all a lie to deceive you.”
She cried while speaking, her sobs choking her so much that she couldn’t breathe.
Matthew listened to Emily, and his pupils immediately constricted. He quickly grabbed her shoulders and stared at her. He furrowed his brows, unable to believe what he had just heard.
"What did you say? No ashes? Are you lying again?" Matthew shook Emily's shoulders violently, urgently wanting to know the truth from her.
Then, he heard Emily's sobbing voice: "Matthew, actually, Rishima is still alive, she didn't die..."

"What did you say?"
Matthew, as if driven mad, hurriedly grabbed Emily by the collar and lifted her up. He couldn't believe what he was hearing, and even his voice trembled. He desperately hoped Emily's words were true, but he feared that what he was hearing was just a lie.
Emily said something Matthew couldn’t have imagined. He desperately hoped it was true, truly hoping that he could immediately hear from Emily that Rishima was still alive.
However, Emily was too cruel. From the moment Matthew had known her, she had always lied. He could not trust any of her words. So, even though Emily appeared to be drunk, Matthew still couldn’t believe what she just said about Rishima being alive.
“Emily, what did you say? Say it again for me!” Matthew gripped Emily’s shoulders tightly and almost yelled at her face. His heart was filled with hope, and his hands instinctively tightened on her shoulders as though he wanted to drive his fingers into her flesh.
Matthew stared at Emily’s face, his heart racing with urgency. Whether it was true or false, Matthew just wanted to know what Emily was trying to say. He needed her to explain everything clearly.
Emily had cried so much that her breath was labored, causing her words to come out in gasps. She wiped her tears with one hand, while the other struggled to speak: “Rishima isn’t dead... I didn’t harm Rishima... Matthew, please don’t hate me, okay? Don’t hate me.”
She continued to cry, her gaze filled with sorrow as she looked up at Matthew. She had always begged Matthew not to hate her, but those words meant nothing to him. He just wanted to know the current state of Rishima.
That day, in the hospital, Matthew had witnessed Rishima pass away, with the heart monitor showing that her heart had completely stopped. But now Emily was saying that Rishima wasn’t dead.
Could this be true?
When Rishima was declared dead, Matthew had been deeply saddened, but he understood that it couldn’t be changed. However, when Emily said that Rishima was still alive, Matthew’s heart was filled with hope. But just as hope rose, Matthew’s rationality immediately returned. He thought back to the scene in the emergency room, to Rishima’s cruel illness, and it all felt like a cold splash of water dousing Matthew’s head, bringing him back to his senses.
Matthew clenched his teeth. His eyes glinted with coldness. His voice was also cold as he spoke, “Emily, do you know what the consequences of lying to me are?”
Emily shook her head. She gently tugged at Matthew’s sleeve, her eyes filled with tears, “I’m not lying to you, really… I didn’t…”
"Then you need to tell me everything clearly, I need to know everything about Rishima's situation!"
Emily spoke haltingly. Because she was drunk, she couldn’t speak clearly, but she roughly described the events that occurred when Rishima was brought into the operating room. Matthew took a deep breath, his brows furrowing. He really wanted to believe what Emily was saying, but the doubts in her words were just too significant.
If Robert Thomas was an influential male in the empire, then either he or Zvonimir would know about Robert’s existence. Moreover, Robert could command a team of professional bodyguards in the blink of an eye, proving that he was very powerful. But Matthew knew nothing about a male named Robert Thomas.
This was really hard to believe.
Matthew looked at Emily, who was tugging at his sleeve, feeling frustrated. He was in a hurry to know if Rishima was still okay, if she was still alive. And if she even really existed, rather than wasting time here struggling with Emily.
At first, Matthew had planned to take Emily home, but now he didn’t have time for that. He quickly took out his phone and called a driver to pick Emily up, while he needed to investigate this mysterious male named Robert Thomas.
Matthew opened the car door, stood up, and then roughly pulled Emily out of the car.
"Don't do this, Matthew!" Emily desperately tried to hold onto something, but she couldn't grasp anything.
By the time she reacted, the car door was already closed. The red car sped off, leaving dust rising up in front of Emily's face. She sat there with lifeless eyes, her body completely still. Tears fell from her eyes, one by one, and dried up on the ground.

Matthew left, and Emily couldn’t stop him, couldn’t keep him.
