Chapter 13: He Is Gone, I Have Finished Him

Sophie

I attempted to stand up on my feet only to realize that it was restrained with a piece of bulky metal. I watched my ankles for a moment and realized I was chained and completely trapped. I was confused as I questioned myself what this was all about. I have never been chained or held like this before, my anxiety stormed through me when I knew that I was unable to do anything for my chance of liberty because with these chains, I was going nowhere.

I vaguely remember what had happened as I tried to reminisce about the event before so I began to search my surroundings again only to try to recall everything. My headache was increasing and I winced in excruciating pain. I set my eyes on one of the bodies and tried again to see what I can remember but I just couldn't seem to recall anything. I continued to stare at bodies and noticed that I didn't recognize any of them, and I realized that these dead bodies wore some sort of uniform that I found oddly family. However, I can't seem to remember where I have seen it.

“Romano!” I called out again as I reached for the door. I groaned and fell to the floor in defeat, it has been the thousandth time I have been calling but no response.

“Sophie?”

My head immediately turned towards the door again, my stomach dropped when I noticed that his voice had become closer than before. Although he wasn't here right in front of me, I felt some sort of relief settle in me because I knew he had the right to search for me and it only means he is going to find me eventually. I continued to call out for him as I prayed that he would listen, my body felt like it was slowly switching off.

Romano!” I managed call out with something covering my mouth and my voice was too quiet that I don't think he would hear me. I could still hear him frantically calling out for me and each time, it was getting closer t to the door. Just as I saw his tall towering frame approach the door, I call out for him again.

“Roma…”

The second his name rolled out, my mouth was covered harshly and I was yanked roughly away from the door to a deluded room that was connected to the one I was in before. I was dragged into the room like an animal, I heard the chains that were connected to my ankles dragged along on the floor. It caused a racket and it made the pain worse, so I cried out. I was pinned against the wall, my back slammed into the wall as I could hear everything that was happening in the other room. I heard a pair of fists pounding in the door before another loud thud that really shook the room. He must have broken into the room.

“Roma….”

“Shhhh!”

I opened my eyes and searched my surroundings to see where that voice was coming from. Plain darkness covered us as I furrowed my brows as I saw a silhouette just moving around in the dark but when I moved my head to get a clear view, I was shocked to say the least.

“F...father!” I exhaled.

He revealed himself through the darkness and immediately I was bombarded with questions that I asked myself. He glared at me first as I searched for his eyes, his loose strands of hair had come in the way of his sweaty face while his suit was a mess. I looked at him again, and wondered what on earth he was doing here. I couldn't help but feel my body settled in relief because if Romano couldn't find me, at least my father did.

“Yes, dear…it is me.” He said with a warning smile.

However, I was a little worried because this was so usual. A smile formed on my face as my eyes met his cool ones, which calmed me down. I had seen him for the last few days due to the urgent trip he had to attend and that required him to fly to another country. I wasn't expecting for him to return anytime soon and surely not like this.

“Father, w..what is going on? Why are we hiding?” I asked as I quivered against the wall. I just wanted to get out of here and go back home.

“Not now, I will answer your question later.” He growled in vexation.

“But father…”

“Shut the fuck up!” He whisper-yelled in choleric demeanor before his rough hands covered my mouth.

My body was rigid against the wall as I looked to my right, tears rolled out of my eye when I heard footsteps coming closer to the door that was right next to me. I turned my gaze to my father who watched the surroundings in a cautious manner before he returned them to me.

“Sophie, you know that I will not tolerate childish behavior and certainly not any kind of misbehavior. I am your father and you respect me like how I always taught you.” He growled as his grip around my mouth tightened. I just nodded my head at him as I felt myself crippling away into pieces.

“You will never see Romano again, you will stay away from him, this is the last time I am warning you. Is that understood?”

I stopped squirming against the wall as I stared deeply into his cold eyes and he was kidding. The realization hit me when his words traveled through my ears and nested itself in my head, my heart shattered into a million pieces as I thought about what this actually meant. Tears began to slide out of my eyes, I always knew this day would arrive, however I wasn't expecting it to be like this. He dislikes the relationship Romano and I had because he has other plans. He doesn't want us to be together and also tried to convince me out of this relationship but I didn't think he was being serious. I didn't even think that it would come to this, my own father would go to their extent just to stop me from seeing Romano.

As I was knocked out of my reverie, I began to feel excruciating pain when he gripped my face in his hands. I felt his thumb just press harder into my jaws that it was impossible for me to see myself free from his tight hold. All I could do was mumble but that wasn't definitely enough for Romano to hear. I needed him to hear me because not only have I realized that my father wasn't here to save me. I have realized, I can't get out here with him, I will see Romano again.

“I said shut the fuck up!” He bellowed before slapping me.

I tumbled to the floor and I felt a burning sensation on my left cheek. I coughed and began to claw so I could get away from him. He was definitely not here to save me. As I began to move away from him, pain pierced through my lower abdomen as well as my face. I sobbed onto the floor at the stinging sensation when I couldn't take the pain anymore. I even cried out to him to help me.

My head shot up and my whimper was silenced when loud gunshots ripped through the air. However, it was from the other side of the wall, my heart hammered against my chest as I glared at the door before I managed to crawl to it. I opened the door and lay on my stomach as I witnessed the most horrific sight ever. I began to examine the scene as all I saw was that body just thumped onto the food and then blood. Is it Romano?

I placed my palm onto the floor to push myself up but stopped as I heard my father's malicious laugh echo through the room. My stomach crippled in anxiety as none of this felt good, k to heart told me that the body that lay there was in fact Romano's but my conscience indicated that it wasn't him. I turned my gaze to the body, lying lifelessly on the floor and then turned back to my father whose face was filled with amusement and satisfaction.

“Princess,” he said with so much love and I hated it.

I ignored his call and just gazed at the body on the floor, I gulped as I slowly got up on my feet and approached it. Just as I was about to reach it, my father harshly gripped my arms and turned me around.

“The bastard is gone. I have finished him!” My heart shattered over and over again as my father continued to laugh.

“You won't see him again, not in a million of years because he is fucking dead. Do you hear me? Romano Velkov is dead!”
