Chapter 8

Aurora opened her eyes slowly; the hit had made her dizzy for a while. When she opened her eyes, what she saw shocked her to the brim.

"We never hoped to encounter these demons in here. They are getting closer to the werewolf lands," Oliver said, staring at her for a while to ensure she was okay. "We need to step out. I can't trust leaving you here. If anything happens to you, the alpha king will not take it lightly with us," Oliver said, and quickly she nodded her head. Whatever was waiting for them out there was dangerous, and quickly she stepped out from the car, and what she saw traumatized her.

Standing in front of them were something that she had never seen before. There were eleven of them, and they surrounded them all around. They were different from normal werewolves; they had thick hair around them, and they were in their human form, but still had a strong wolf presence in them. They had long, sharp claws and deep, dark eyes like that of a beast. They looked disgusting, huge, strong, and their aura screamed darkness and evil. She had never heard there existed another kind of werewolves.

"I have never seen or heard there exist another species of werewolves before. What are they?" Aurora asked. She wasn't sure if they could defeat them because they were definitely outnumbered.

"We call them the rarewolves, and they aren't real werewolves," Oliver said. "Stay behind me and do not leave my sight unless you wish to die," Oliver said, watching her eyes widen with fear, and she nodded quickly.

"We meet again. You can't kill us; you know that," one of the rarewolves said. He looked a lot bigger than all of them, and when he turned to stare at Aurora, he looked at her with interest, and a smile appeared on his face.

"Are the rumors true? The alpha king intends to marry a weakling to get rid of us. You think this weakling can stop us from existing. We keep growing every day, number by number," the rarewolf said again. Aurora shivered at his words and felt confused. What did he mean by marrying her to get rid of them? Who were the rarewolves, and how can her marriage to the alpha king stop their existence? All these questions kept flowing in her head until she heard Oliver say, "You only exist because we said so. You are a weakling, needing a virus to exist. Your end is near," Oliver said, creating some time for the moment.

"I don't think so. You seem to be the one outnumbered. You can't kill us just like the way you kill rogues. We are not weak like your normal werewolves with little power. We are faster, stronger, and more deadly. Hand over the girl to us, and we will let you leave. You can tell your alpha how we allowed you to live and showed you mercy," the rarewolf said.

And when he opened his teeth to smile, Aurora looked into the rarewolf's mouth; bile rose in her throat at the sight of his long, sharp teeth. They were yellow and jagged, and she could feel her stomach churning at the thought of those teeth sinking into her skin. She wished she had never looked at him, but it was too late to turn back now. She was trapped, and there was no escape from the horror before her.

"We don't have to kill you, and we will never hand her over to you. You are never going to have her," Orion said with a sadistic smile on his face. He watched the rarewolves look at him in a questioning manner, as if he was going insane.

"You can't kill us; we will kill you and still take her away. She will become one of us. She will be presented as a gift to our creator," another rarewolf said. This one is a woman; her hair was so disheveled like a madwoman, and she looked like she had no blood in her. Her eyes looked different, yellowish, dead yellowish, and the stares the rarewolf gave her sent chills down her spine.

"You make me laugh. We won't kill you; we won't take the pleasure of killing you because someone else will," Orion said. This time, his eyes changed colors, and his mood changed from normal to dark. "Who? No one is here except us," the rarewolf lady said. Aurora was confused at what was going on. If they weren't going to fight, then who will?

"I will take pleasure in killing you all," the voice boomed, filling the forest with its dark and powerful tone. It seemed to shake the very trees, and the rarewolves cowered in fear.

Aurora's heart pounded against her chest, her breath catching in her throat. The voice belonged to someone who was clearly dangerous, someone who enjoyed inflicting death and destruction. She tried to speak, but no words came out. Her voice was frozen in her throat.

"How did you materialize here? How did you..." The rarewolf began.

"While you were invested in concocting your schemes of tormenting us, we were busy strategizing our own. As the first of our kind, the werewolves, we possess what is known as a mindlink, an ability that you, the rarewolves, lack," Oliver retorted with a smirk.

"Prepare to meet your end," announced Oliver. In a blink of an eye, Aurora noticed a rapid, almost lightning-fast movement. The piercing screams and the gruesome sound of bones shattering filled the air. She watched as blood pooled on the ground. She found herself standing alongside Oliver, who remained unmoved, and Orion, whose amusement was evident as he observed the unfolding spectacle. The man, once brimming with an aura of invisible power, was now effortlessly besting his adversaries.

In the midst of the ferocious battle, Aurora scanned her surroundings. No one seemed to notice her. Her gaze fell on a severed limb that had landed near her feet. Swiftly averting her eyes from the horrific scene that was unfolding before her, she made her move. She decided to flee from this nightmare. She began to sprint, distancing herself from the gruesome sight behind her.

As she ran, she could feel her heart pounding fiercely against her chest. This was her opportunity to break free. She had no idea where she was headed, but she had to escape, from the menacing creatures, and more critically, from the man whose ominous glares had induced a bone-chilling fear within her. The man who had transformed the once serene forest into a scene of terror. But it appeared that fate was not on her side, for out of nowhere, she was struck by a powerful force that sent her crashing into a tree.
