Chapter 169 Thea
Chapter 169 Thea
Eden’s Point of View
Theron brought me to bed, and I let out a soft, sleepy sigh as Theron’s arms tightened around my waist, his bare chest pressed against my naked back, sharing his warmth with me as he trailed kisses all over my face. He buried his face in the crook of my neck, inhaling my scent deeply.
We were done making love, but he remained as clingy as ever, his touch soft, warm, and kind; I liked it.
“You still won’t tell me that you’re pregnant?” He queried, his lips only centimeters away from my ears, his palms massaged my stomach softly. “How long were you planning to wait?”
“I-I figured the doctor would tell you.” I stuttered, and his palms slid down my stomach to below my navel.
“Did I marry the doctor?” He quizzed, and I was barely able to stop myself from laughing; his touch lingered around my stomach. “And then you proceeded to run away with my daughter?”
Daughter? How was he so certain about the sex of the child?
“You should be punished for that.” His voice was a low and serious grumble, and before I could question how he planned to punish me, he bit down on my neck.
“Ah, Theron.” My body stiffened as his teeth sank into me. I tried to shove him off, but I was unable to move. I was trapped underneath his big body; he twisted his legs around mine as a snake does to its prey.
“Come on—fine, I am sorry.” Only then did he stop, “I shouldn’t have left you like that.”
“I am glad you know.” Silence befell us again. Once more, I was enjoying the serenity of his company when his deep voice rumbled from behind me. He pressed another kiss on my back, his hands tightening just above my stomach again. “What would you call her?”
“Her? You mean our daughter?” I asked curiously, his lips reaching my shoulder, and a stiff moan escaped me.
“Yes.” He answered.
“How do you know she is a girl?” I wondered out loud. ’What if it is a boy?”
“No, it’s definitely a girl.” I felt the corner of his lips lift against my shoulder. “I prayed to God that he give me a daughter, one who has your eyes, and your pretty smile.”
“My eyes?” I mumbled, my cheeks burned red and hot. I snuggled even closer to him, trying to hide my blush. “I want her to have your eyes, if we have a daughter.”
“We are definitely going to have her,” He interjected. Unlike me, Theron was certain, as if the sex of the child was something he had determined long before he dreamt of becoming a father. “She is going to have eyes like sweet honey, and hair like melting butter; she would be perfect just like you.”
“The girl has to take some of your features as well.” I reminded him. “You’re her father, she has to look like us both.”
He paused for a while, and then shook his head; the stubble on his chin tickled my shoulders. Theron became still, dangerously so. I was about to turn towards him when he held me even tighter, restricting my movement.
“You know, sometimes, I don’t understand how you’re able to fall in love with a jerk like me. I don’t know if you’re just blind or I must have somehow cheated the universe.” His voice was low as he complained, and I could tell that this came from a place of deep pain and loneliness. “I don’t deserve you or this child; you deserve someone better, someone who can be a proper husband, and my baby? She deserves the best father in the world.”
“Theron?” I called, but he shook his head, as if silently begging me to let him speak. I froze when I felt something wet smeared against my back.
“You both deserve someone normal, someone who can be involved, someone who you will be proud of—I want to be that person, but I don’t know if I am doing the right thing.” He trailed off, and I felt more wetness against my back.
No, this can’t be… It’s not possible.
“And in moments like this, when there is nothing but the warmth filling our bodies, I get filled with so many uncertainties, and I’m scared that I might mess up, and one day you would hate me.” There seemed to be a strain in his voice; was he seriously crying? “I don’t know how to react on the day it happens, I mean, I don’t even have human emotions.”
“Do you think I hate you?”
He shook his head almost hurriedly.
“No, but there are still so many more years ahead of us; there is an endless possibility of what happens. Tell me, what am I going to do when you run away again? Would you be willing to forgive me so easily? I don’t want to ever put you in that situation again.”
“Wait…” I froze and then pressed back, trying to undo his hands from my waist; his entire body seemed to be trembling. “Are you crying?”
“No,” He sniffed, “I am not, my eyes keep leaking though.”
I felt my chest tighten as I asked. “Are you sad?”
“Not exactly, there is a tightness in my chest, and a lump in my throat.”
My eyes widened. It was surprising that Theron was exhibiting signs of sadness. It's shocking because he doesn't know what it means as well.
“Theron, what do you mean you don’t have any human emotions?” I whispered back. “You’re crying, this is something I have never seen you do before.”
“I am not crying.” He said again, finally unhanding me, and I turned towards him, and I felt my heart break into a thousand pieces. I had never seen him look so weak and vulnerable before; his eyes were red and filled with tears, but his gaze remained soft.
Instead of acting shocked or surprise like emotions are a taboo for him, I smiled instead.
“What do you think?” He rubbed his nose against mine, and I shut my eyes tightly, leaning into him.
“I think you’re fine,” I answered. “Do you want to pick out a name for our daughter? Something she would love because you picked it personally for her. I will tell her stories about how much her father loved her even before she was born; there is no way she would hate you.”
“Is that okay?” He asked curiously. “Shouldn’t the naming be the mother’s role? I don’t want—”
I interrupted him almost immediately by placing my finger against his lips. “It’s okay.”
“I would like to name her Thea.” He held my right hand and pressed a long, soothing kiss between my fingers. “It means a divine gift—to me, you, and our baby will always be a blessing from God.”
Tears stirred in my eyes as well, as I looked at this man. The one whom I loved with all my heart.
“Thea is such a lovely name.”
