Chapter 124 Create One
Evangeline’s Point of View
As a medical student in her final years, the only thing I’m allowed to do is take basic procedures, like checking pulse, blood pressure, and other minor things to support the attendant or surgeon in charge of the patient.
And I am allowed to observe the real professionals perform surgeries. If only Uriel hadn’t come to distract me, I would be way past this stage now; I just have to endure this intense training for a year, and I can move up to the next line.
Coming here made me realize just how much gap there is between Eden and me; she is already a practicing surgeon, and everyone talks highly of her in the hospital. She seems to be some kind of big shot in here; the nurses hardly make a full sentence without mentioning her name.
And no one seems to care about me.
Things were way different in Father’s hospital; everyone talks about me, even though I don’t work there, and people barely say anything about her.
Because she was irrelevant, and that was how it’s supposed to be.
She can’t possibly have more value than me, because at the end of the day, she is just the worthless, neglected, and irrelevant daughter who killed her own mother.
So, I went searching for her, for my plans to get to work, I needed to find weak spots. I will do this hospital a favor and save them from Eden.
“Let go of me!” I heard her voice, just before I got to the hallway, my eyes narrowed, and I leaned in to peek first, in case of danger. But then I realized that she was being dragged off somewhere by a man, and she struggled seriously with him.
Is that her husband?
No.
Theron is quite taller than that, and his hair was longer.
Nevertheless, I followed them to the emergency stairwell; luckily, the door was shut, so I tiptoed to listen.
And who would have thought that innocent Eden had something to do with her husband’s brother? Does her husband know about this illicit relationship? I doubt he would still want to be with her if he knew about this.
Unless he is dumb, of course.
“Shit!” I gasped when I heard footsteps approaching the door, seems like they were done with their conversation, so I ran away.
Eden refused to take up my bet, asking me to do whatever I want. I watched her leave a smirk hanging on my face. She doesn’t really want that. I could see just how tense and scared she was, but she was too prideful to admit it.
I mean, if she had fallen on her knees to beg me not to take her husband, maybe I would have considered her. According to most of the men I have been with, I carry a charm that is impossible to resist, which makes me so sure that even if Theron is unwilling to leave Eden for me.
He would definitely be in my bed.
And even though I am sure he can’t leave her for me, especially in such crucial and serious moments, he would come back crawling to me when I show him what a fraud Eden is.
“Hey,” I say towards the man whose eyebrows were furrowed together; his eyes were glued on the folder, but I could tell his attention was divided, and for a minute, I was lost in his beauty. This is Theron’s brother; he is quite handsome.
He glanced back, as if to confirm that I was indeed talking to him, and then he stared at me strangely, his silver eyes sizing me up.
“Do I know you?” He asked curiously, the folder in his hands resting beside him.
“I am Evangeline.” I outstretched my hands for a shake, but he just glanced down at them, disgustingly not attempting to take them. “I am Eden’s sister.”
“Quit joking. You look nothing like her.” He finally murmured.
“I know, I am prettier. I’m her half-sister.” I flicked my hair, and he stared at me for a while, like I had grown a second head, and then just walked away wordlessly.
At first, I just stood there in shock, my brain unable to decipher what had just happened. Did this man just walk out on me? While I was still talking? I gasped in surprise because I had never been this embarrassed in my life.
Who the hell does he think he is to just ignore me? Does he know who I am?
“I might know a way to help you!” I found my voice amid the rising embarrassment, and he stopped in his tracks, glancing back at me.
“What are you talking about?” He asked stiffly, his eyes narrowed at me, his irritation evident. “Don’t you have other important things to do? Why are you stalking me?”
“I heard your conversation with my sister at the stairwell,” I confessed, and he froze. “But don’t worry, I won’t tell anybody.”
“I don’t care.”
He is quite stubborn, and it was beginning to piss me off. I let out a stiff sigh. Maybe he is attracted to me, but just playing hard to get.
“Even though I don’t understand what a man like you sees or wants in a woman like my sister, because obviously you deserve better.” I started in a calm voice, I neared him and brushed off some dirt on the scrub he was wearing, and he took a step back. “But after hearing you beg her so earnestly, and that evil woman refuses to forgive you, I became sorry for you, and I want to help you.”
His eyes narrowed at me.
“But why?” He asked, leaning into me, his eyes were like lasers, burning deep into my skin. “She is your sister. Why are you helping me?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” I scoffed, tearing my gaze away from his penetrative ones. “I don’t like my sister, so I am inclined to do whatever is against her. But that doesn’t matter, right? Do you want to have my sister or not?”
He paused for a while, his eyes studying me, trying to find a hint of falseness or deceit, but he couldn’t find anything.
“How can I trust that you’re not trying to set me up?” He asked curiously, folding his arms against his chest.
“I am going to help you tear up her relationship with her husband.” A small smile formed on his face. I could tell he liked that.
“I don’t know how you intend to do that, but what do you wish to gain from this?”
That is a question I am yet to ask myself, but I guess I find joy in seeing Eden miserable; she is never meant to have anything good, and she doesn’t deserve to be happy.
If her husband was unwilling to be the dangerous psychopath that everyone fears for her, then I will create one for her.
