THIRD PERSON'S POV:-
Hugging the pillow in her arms, Athena cried herself to sleep that night. When she was planning on welcoming her baby very soon in the world, suddenly, her world turned upside down. The more she asked questions to Cynthia, the more agitated she got. Cynthia was not replying to her at all. When she opened her eyes, she found herself lying by the Riverside. The same river where Aurora was buried alongside her mate.
Athena sat up on the ground, wrapping her arms around her body. She was all naked, as if she might have shifted at some point at night and wandered around. Athena's eyes caught the glimpse of her reflection. She walked toward the mirror. Only to find out a few differences between herself and the image she was seeing of herself in front of her.
"What's wrong, Athena? You shouldn't be surprised by my appearance. After all, you and I look exactly the same." Athena's eyes widened in surprise. She knew exactly who she was looking at.
The surprise turned into anger the instant she saw the matching pair of blue eyes that almost looked silver. "Your brother left…" Athena was about to yell at Aurora. She wanted to pour every bit of her anger out on Aurora. But Aurora placed her index finger on Athena's lips.
"This is all your father's doing." Aurora started speaking. She told Athena everything that had happened to her the night before. How she just went to free her heart from Oliver and how he used dark magical spells to tame her and manipulate Athena.
"It was a shock for him as well, but Athena, he never left you. I know he made mistakes but you know well in your heart that he has repented for all those mistakes by loving you a hundred times more." Athena's eyes started to well up instantly as Aurora finished.
"I can't believe it! I believed every single word that monster said over the truth my mate told me. Alexander will never forgive me." Athena was on the ground, sobbing in shame. Aurora walked toward Athena and wrapped a long gown around her naked body.
"He is my Alexander. I shaped him as a kind and strong man. He will understand once you tell him that it wasn't your fault." Aurora proudly informed Athena in a low tone while staring into Athena's eyes.
"You have to go and get my heart from your father. It's the only way I can be free from his hold. So I can go back to my mate and my children, who have been waiting for me in heaven for years." Athena's eyes widened as she realized the reason she was so attached to Aurora. A piece of her was left behind. And without knowing, Athena got attached with that piece of Aurora.
"I will do whatever it takes to free you from that monster." Athena was suddenly pumped up like an Alpha. But that's when Aurora placed her hand on Athena's shoulder.
"You can't do this alone. You will need your mate by your side. Call him. He is the only one who can wake Cynthia now." Aurora's words made Athena narrow her head in shame. She felt ashamed just because she decided to listen to her father for once.
"Will he even want to come? I crossed all the limits this time. That too without his fault." Athena asked in a low and guilty tone. It made Aurora giggle as Athena reminded Aurora of how Aurora was before she met Oliver.
"I am the one who raised him. Whimper for him. He will come running for you." Athena's eyes were wide in surprise as she heard the aurora's words laced with confidence and pride for Alexander.
Athena opened her eyes and found herself sleeping in the same bedroom. She sat up on her bed and quickly grabbed her phone. Since Cynthia was not responding, Athena could only rely upon the technology and hope she could reach Alexander in time.
In the Silvercrest Pack, Alexander's phone started ringing. He was at the pack house, while his phone was vibrating in his bedroom. The shadow that was keeping eyes on Aurora when she raised again, snuck into the alpha's room. Looking at the screen flashing the number of the Luna, a wicked smile appeared on his face. As soon as the call dropped, he switched Alpha's phone off and placed it back on its place.
"Let's see if you can survive this." A wicked whisper echoed in the empty room. He took a deep breath, shamelessly inhaling the sweet scent of his Luna, filling his lungs with it. Then he turned around and walked out of the room.
Leaving a message on his number, Athena stood up and walked out of her bedroom. The mansion was drowning in silence. Everyone was in their deep sleep. She walked toward the kitchen and opened a secret cabinet that no one knew of except for her and her grandfather. Her grandfather hid a bunch of weapons in that place just for her safety.
Grabbing one of the daggers and a silver sword, she walked toward the room Aurora talked about. Taking a deep breath, Athena made a small cut on her palm using the dagger and dropped a few drops on the lock. As soon as he blood burned through the spell, the door of the room opened on its own. Athena walked into the room, unaware of the shadow that followed her behind.
On the other side, Alexander made his way to his bedroom. The silence in his bedroom made him anxious. His heart ached as he remembered every single word Athena said to him before he was dragged out of the house. He grabbed her pillow, placed it on his face and laid down on the bed. Her scent still lingered in the pillow. Inhaling deeply, he let her sweet scent calm him down.
He was exhausted. He tried to close his eyes. But all of the sudden, he heard a scream echoing in his ears. "Get up, Alex!" He sat up on his bed abruptly and looked around. He suddenly felt safe. He hadn't felt like that since Aurora left the mansion.
Gordrix was suddenly getting agitated. As if something was wrong. He tried to contact Athena through a mind link but nothing happened. He knew something was not right. His eyes went toward his phone that was placed on top of his bedside table.
Athena's eyes widened in horror as she watched a living heart, caged in a glass container. Some fluids were inside the glass, but she could swear she watched the blood running through the heart. "This is it! I am going to free you, Aurora!" Athena whispered as she walked toward the container.
She looked through the machines, trying to figure out how to stop the system to get the heart out. It was not as hard as it looked. Five minutes alone in that room and Athena was able to figure out the whole system. With a wide smile on her face, she was about to push a button. But before she could free the heart, a silver blade went through her chest, making her gasp for air. "Did you really think I would let you free her from me, my dear daughter?" Athena heard Oliver whispering in her ear before her world turned dark.
