Chapter 120 Look within yourself
Chapter 120 Look within yourself
Elara's POV
Elara stood frozen for a moment, staring at Viktor as though her mind refused to accept what she was seeing. Then she hurried toward him, dropping to her knees beside him and gently touching his face. "Viktor," she whispered, her voice trembling. "What happened to you?"
Viktor stared at her in complete disbelief. His eyes widened as he looked from Elara to Joyce and then back at her again, as though he was trying to understand how she had ended up there. "Elara? What are you doing here?"
"I came looking for you," she replied, her fingers still resting against his cheek. "I needed your help, but I never expected to find you like this."
Ellie stood a few steps away, his expression grim. He had been Viktor's friend since their days in the human world, and seeing him in that condition clearly affected him as well. "Caius did this," he said quietly.
Elara looked up at him. "Caius?"
Ellie nodded. "The vampire lord."
Her eyes immediately returned to Viktor.
"He took most of Viktor's powers from him," Ellie explained. "But that wasn't enough for him. He has been doing something to Viktor's body from the inside, slowly destroying him."
Elara's heart sank.
She had come all the way to the vampire kingdom believing Viktor would be the person who could help them escape Caven's kingdom. She had imagined finding him strong enough to guide them, perhaps even having answers to everything that had happened, but instead she had found him barely able to stand.
Elara crouched beside him again and gently touched his face. Viktor looked exhausted, and for the first time since arriving at the vampire kingdom, she felt completely lost.
There had to be something she could do.
She knew she had powers. She had seen what the dragon could do, and she had felt something inside herself ever since everything began changing, but knowing she had power was different from knowing how to use it.
The dragon had told her she could summon it whenever she wanted.
But how?
Elara closed her eyes.
She tried to remember the feeling she had when the dragon first appeared, searching for some connection between them. Nothing happened. She tried again, forcing herself to reach deeper, but there was only silence.
"Come on," she whispered.
She concentrated harder.
For several moments, nothing changed. Then suddenly, something appeared in her mind.
A dragon.
Elara could barely make out its shape before the image vanished.
Her eyes opened immediately.
Hope rushed through her.
She closed her eyes again and tried once more, this time refusing to give up when nothing happened immediately. She focused on the connection she had felt before, reaching for it with everything she had.
Then she heard a voice inside her mind.
Elara.
Her breath caught.
What do you want?
Elara swallowed. "How do I use my power?"
There was silence for a moment before the dragon answered.
Look within yourself.
"What does that mean?"
You already know how.
"I don't," Elara whispered desperately. "I don't know how to do any of this."
Look within yourself.
Elara tried to respond, but the connection disappeared.
Her eyes opened.
She looked around the room, confused and frustrated, but there was nothing there to guide her. Joyce was watching her carefully, while Ellie remained beside the door, seemingly unsure of what was happening.
Elara looked down at her hands.
If the dragon was right, the power was already inside her.
She placed both palms gently against Viktor.
His body was warm beneath her hands, but he remained frighteningly weak. Elara closed her eyes and tried to search within herself, just as the dragon had told her.
At first, she felt nothing.
Then something shifted.
A strange warmth spread through her palms, moving slowly through her arms before gathering in her hands. Elara's breathing changed as she began muttering words she didn't fully understand, the sound coming from her lips without her consciously choosing them.
Light suddenly appeared beneath her palms.
Elara's eyes remained closed as the light grew stronger, flowing from her hands and into Viktor's body. Viktor gasped, his back pressing against the wall as his eyes widened in surprise.
"What is happening?" Ellie whispered.
Joyce stepped closer.
Then she suddenly stopped.
A faint light had begun glowing around her hands too.
Joyce stared at them in shock.
"Elara..."
Elara opened her eyes.
The light was still flowing from her hands into Viktor, while Joyce stood beside her with glowing palms, staring at them as though she had never seen anything like it before.
Neither of them understood what was happening.
But Viktor's breathing had already begun to change.
