Chapter 77: In the Arms of Danger

Kia's POV

"Hell no, Kia did you see the star news interview?" Hazel's screamed with excitement the minute she got back from shopping.

At a first glance, you would see that she definitely did more than shopping, her three day old nails were removed and a fresh nail extension was added. Her hair was packed in an updo with fresh light brown highlights and from the smell of the scented oils, you could tell that she equally had a spa massage. I winced just thinking about the amount of money that got debited from my card. So much for 'shopping'.

"Nah, I could not watch the interview, what .. what happened" I lied, running a hand through my hair.

"Too bad you couldn't. The famous CEO of tracian stitches was featured, you remember her right?"

"Yea... you talked about her this morning," I clicked fingers, reassuring her that I definitely remembered who she was referring to.

"You remember! It's unlike you remember, anyway, yea that one... Can you believe she was interviewed right after I talked about her?" she bragged, obviously proud of herself. I reckon she thinks she's some sort of goodluck charm, tsk.

"You don't say?" I feigned surprise.

"Ouuu, I'm gonna go tweet about it. hashtagtraciansrealface (#traciansrealface)" she chortled as she walked past me and climbed up the stairs.

"Oh, I literally forgot," she stopped in tracks, freeing my ear from the sound of her heels against the floor, "hope you had a great day?  Just kidding, I know you lead a very boring life. Alright I'll be upstairs in my room"  and with that she left me and sashayed up the stairs and into her room.

I replayed the entire interview in my head over and over again, her smile was still same but she had changed so much from what she used to be. Her cheeks looked Fuller and her eyes brighter and she definitely looked more beautiful than how she was when she was here and a lot more mature too. I think motherhood has taken a toll on her.

Motherhood!

What if she still has my child? What if my baby was with her? I could not help but wonder if she had a boy or a girl as beautiful as her.

Thee were equally parts of me that was scared , scared that maybe the baby did not survive because she did not talk about having a child. But at the same time, she did love to keep her life private.

"Sir, your dinner is ready" Haati's voice pulled me out of my trance.

"Alright, serve it on the dining"

"Yes sir"

I watched as Haati moved swiftly, setting the dining and placing food on the table.

"Heyy, it's enough. It's just me eating, I doubt if Hazel will be joining me"

"Alright sir."

"Haati?"

"Yes sir.".

"About your grandma, where does she stay?"

"In bangai, the witch village" she answered, beads of sweat forming on her forehead, her hands quivering on either side of her body as she avoided making eye contact with me.

"And what guarantee do I have that you do not have plans of killing me? Because witches can not be trusted." I warned, narrowing my eyes.

"I promise to return with you safe and sound sir and if I don't, you can issue a notice to the entire pack right before our journey so they can keep an eye on me.", She swore, her voice solemn as ever.

"Alright then. What about Hazel? I want the visit to be as discreet as possible."

"Sir Kia, you are sounding like we both don't know who ma'am Hazel is. Your card is going to be enough distraction for her,"  I hated to admit that she was right, Hazel's materialism had shone brighter than her character... Not like she had any in the first place.

"It's my partner you're talking about here"

She scoffed, the hidden meaning behind that action did not come as a surprise to me. Deciding to ignore her, turning my focus to the food that was probably already getting cold, from sitting on the dining. I chowed down the meal and I must confess this is the most I have eaten in the last few years. Maybe the hope of finding alexia was enough to set my apetite right.

"You seemed to have devoured down a lot today, sir"  Haati remarked when she came to clear the dishes.

The clattering if the plates enough to give me a severe headache.

"Take it easy Haati," I said, ignoring her earlier remark. Despite her decision to help me out, everything remained the same, so did my boundaries with the help. I could not afford a staff disrespecting me, no matter how find of each other we have grown.

" I am sorry sir, she apologized, bowing slightly as she scurried to the kitchen with the dishes.

I had realized that I had remained on the chair for a while before Haati pointed out. "Sir, do you have plans of sleeping downstairs? Should I prepare the guest room?" She requested.

"No Haati, I will... I will be going upstairs now" I staggered as a struggled to get from the chair. I took long strides up the stairs and into my room..

I threw my clothes on my bed and dashed for the shower. Holding the knob, I turned it on and let the water run over my body as I replayed the events of today. I shook my head at thoughts about her and instead I tried focusing more on my anticipated visit to Haati's grandma. Does this mean there are over witch wolf breeds in the pack?

Despite my attempts to push it away, thoughts about Alexia somehow still found their way into my mind. Reaching over to my drawer, I took out one of the sedatives that had become my companion over the years, popped a pill and took it with the glass of water I always left on my drawer.

I shut my eyes tightly, giving way to sleep and few minutes into my sleepy state, I saw a familiar face in my dream.

Alexia
