Chapter 77 I Will Find You Soon

Chapter 77 I Will Find You Soon

Easton's gaze was so intense that Owen instinctively looked away.

The next second, Owen realized he shouldn't have reacted that way. By avoiding Easton's eyes after such a direct question, he was practically admitting he knew what had happened that day.

Sure enough, Easton chuckled. "Owen, don't lie. You really think you can fool me?"

If it weren't for his deep love for Cassidy and the joy of being so close to finally being with her, he would never have let her slip away.

Easton knew Owen was involved in Cassidy's escape, but he wasn't sure if Owen knew where she was now. He needed to break Owen's psychological defenses first.

He wanted Owen to believe he had already figured out Cassidy's escape route, so Owen would try to contact her, and Easton could use that to find her.

Owen was already panicking inside. He had no idea how much Easton knew.

Did Easton know he helped Cassidy escape?

Had Easton already found out where Cassidy was?

Was Easton trying to get him to admit his involvement in Cassidy's escape plan?

Owen's mind was a mess. He couldn't glean any useful information from Easton's expression or tone.

Easton sneered and stopped pressing Owen. Making Owen think he had Cassidy's location was enough.

He stood up, looking down at Owen. "No matter what plans you two have, Owen, Cassidy is mine. I won't let her escape from me, ever."

He turned and opened the door. Declan was waiting outside and quickly asked Easton what had happened.

But Easton ignored him, giving him a brief glance before walking past.

Declan entered the room to check on Owen, who was injured and sitting on the floor, staring dejectedly at the ground.

Owen clenched his fists, seemingly holding back immense anger.

"Owen, what happened? Why did Easton treat you like this?"

Owen didn't want to involve anyone else in Cassidy's situation, so he remained silent despite Declan's questions.

After several attempts, Declan realized it was a private matter they wouldn't let anyone else interfere with.

Declan sighed. "Owen, you're no match for Easton. If something like this happens again, I hope you'll come to me first."

Despite his disability, he was still the older brother and could use his position to advise Easton.

Seeing Owen's continued silence, Declan reluctantly called the butler to tend to Owen's wounds.

Owen's thoughts were solely on Cassidy.

He needed to warn her that Easton knew about her escape and might have her location. If Cassidy didn't want to be caught again, she had to leave the town immediately!

Cassidy had worked hard for her peaceful life, and now Easton was about to ruin it, which gave Owen a deep sadness.

Why did Easton treat Cassidy this way?

She just wanted a quiet, happy life. Why couldn't Easton let her go?

Owen knew he had to get the message to Cassidy quickly.

After his wounds were treated, Owen tried to send Cassidy a message, but it failed.

That night had angered Cassidy, and to make him give up on being with her, she had blocked him.

With his only contact method blocked, Owen had no choice but to go to the town himself.

Worried about being followed, Owen traveled at night, staying alert to his surroundings.

When he reached the bar, it was bustling. Cassidy was at the counter, mixing drinks.

Her smile vanished the moment she saw Owen.

"Owen, what are you doing here?"

Hadn't she made herself clear that night?

Didn't he understand her rejection?

She had decided to cut ties with the entire Cooper family. Why was Owen here, especially so late?

"Owen, you're not welcome here. I want you to leave!"

Owen felt hurt by Cassidy's blunt dismissal, but he didn't forget his purpose tonight.

"Cassidy, I have something important to tell you."

Owen's serious expression showed he wasn't lying.

Cassidy felt a bad premonition, even a hint of what it might be.

"What is it?"

"Easton! Easton seems to have found your location. You need to leave here immediately! I'm afraid he'll come for you soon!"

Cassidy's face turned pale at the mention of Easton's name. She stepped back instinctively, almost tripping over the bar's steps.

Owen hadn't expected such a strong reaction from Cassidy at Easton's name. He instinctively reached out to steady her, but she refused his help.

Once she regained her balance, Cassidy's voice trembled. "What did you say? Easton found me?"

"I'm not sure, but he questioned me today. He seems to know I helped you, so I think he'll find you soon!"

Cassidy's mind went blank.

Easton had found her so quickly?

She knew Easton would be furious when he discovered she was gone and would use every means to find her.

She had spent a long time planning everything, choosing a remote town to avoid Easton's detection.

She thought she could live peacefully here for months, maybe even years.

She believed that if Easton couldn't find her for a long time, he would forget about her and find another woman to marry and have children with.

But now Owen said Easton might know her location and could come for her soon!

"Cassidy, don't worry. I'll take you to an even more remote town. Easton won't find you there."

"We need to leave right now!"

If they delayed, Easton might find her!

Owen walked over and grabbed Cassidy's wrist. "Don't worry, I'll handle the bar. Our priority is to pack up and leave the town!"

Cassidy knew Owen was right. She needed to leave immediately. But the thought of abandoning the bar she had worked so hard to build filled her with reluctance.

"Owen, wait. Let me stay one more day. We'll leave tomorrow, okay?"

She needed one night to say goodbye to the town she had come to see as her second home.

She also needed time to think about her life after leaving the town. She couldn't leave right now.
