Chapter 76 Owen Continually Denies
Easton had found out about Cassidy!
As soon as this thought crossed his mind, Owen tensed up.
Easton's gaze was so sharp, it felt like it could cut through steel.
Owen didn't dare to meet his eyes directly. He was too nervous right now; if he looked Easton in the eye, he'd be totally exposed.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Owen took a deep breath and met Easton's gaze. "Cassidy died in a car accident. You know that. Why are you asking me this?"
Owen suddenly let out a mocking laugh. "Are you saying I hid Cassidy's body?"
His smile was infuriating. Easton shoved him onto the bed. "Owen, I'm giving you one more chance. Where is Cassidy now?"
Owen straightened his clothes and calmly replied to Easton, "I go to school every day, have to finish my coursework, and barely have time to rest. How would I know where Cassidy's body is?"
"You might want to ask Declan and Ryder instead."
"Don't say that word!" Easton glared at Owen fiercely.
Cassidy wasn't dead. He wouldn't let anyone say she was!
Easton's gaze was terrifying, like he could tear Owen apart at any moment.
Owen was scared of that look. He had spent the past eighteen years studying, and because he couldn't become the head of the family, his upbringing had been relatively gentle.
He wasn't Easton. He hadn't experienced life-and-death battles or bloody events.
So when Easton stared at him with such a venomous look, Owen felt like he was being watched by a giant snake.
If he didn't hold out, that snake would bite his neck without hesitation.
He was scared.
But he didn't want to tell Easton about Cassidy.
Even though Cassidy had rejected him and said she never wanted to see him again, he still hoped Cassidy could live a happy life.
Undoubtedly, Cassidy was happiest now.
Easton was a huge cage for her. She feared Easton and resisted returning to him.
He couldn't let Easton find Cassidy. He wanted Cassidy to leave Easton and live the life she wanted.
"Where is Cassidy?" Easton repeated the question. His patience was running thin since he hadn't gotten the answer he wanted.
If Owen kept talking nonsense, Easton might lose control and snap Owen's neck.
But Owen still didn't answer the question.
"Owen, if you don't speak, you'll never leave this room."
He was threatening Owen.
Owen's breathing became rapid. He could feel Easton's emotional shift; Easton was at his limit.
But he didn't want to reveal Cassidy's whereabouts.
"No matter how many times you ask." Owen looked up at Easton, his gaze becoming firm. "My answer won't change. I don't know what you're talking about."
"Don't know? Fine!" Easton laughed angrily, put his hands on his hips, and paced in circles. Finally, he couldn't control himself and grabbed Owen's neck.
The distance between them closed suddenly. Owen could clearly see the red veins in Easton's eyes and feel how much effort Easton had put into finding Cassidy.
He tried to pry Easton's hand away, but Easton's arm felt like it was made of steel. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't pull it off.
Owen's breathing became shallow, and his vision started to blur.
"Owen, I'm giving you one last chance." Easton's voice was like a devil's whisper. "Tell me where Cassidy is, or you'll die today."
Owen opened his mouth. Easton thought he was about to reveal Cassidy's location and loosened his grip. But the first thing Owen said after catching his breath was still a denial.
Easton was furious. Driven by anger, he punched Owen repeatedly.
Owen couldn't dodge and had to endure Easton's blows.
The commotion was too loud. Declan heard it and rushed over.
Seeing Easton beating Owen, his face changed. "Easton, is this all you can do, attack your own family?"
Easton had fought with Ryder recently, and now he was beating Owen.
Seeing Easton getting more violent, Declan shouted, "Owen hasn't trained. If you keep hitting him, you might kill him."
If Owen died, Ryder would seize the opportunity to attack Easton and strip him of his heir status.
Easton realized this and slowly stopped.
Owen was badly injured, his face pale.
Easton stopped but kept breathing heavily, his anger undiminished.
Declan wanted to approach and find out what happened, but Easton didn't give him the chance.
Easton didn't even look at Declan, just closed and locked the door.
Outside, Declan heard the lock and started banging on the door. "Easton, what are you doing to Owen?"
"Easton, what happened? Can't we sit down and talk?"
"Easton, stop! Owen isn't Ryder; he's not your match!"
No one responded to Declan.
Owen sat on the floor, and Easton pulled a chair next to him. After sitting down, he looked coldly at Owen. "Owen, you really like Cassidy, don't you?"
Owen bit his lip at the question. He knew what Easton was going to say next.
"But she's my woman. If you dare covet her, how many lives do you think you have?"
"Owen, I'm in a bad mood. I suggest you tell me about Cassidy. I don't want to be known for killing my brother, so don't push me."
"Easton." Owen called Easton's name softly.
His mouth was bloody, and speaking felt like his mouth was tearing apart.
"I really don't know what you're talking about. You know Cassidy's situation well."
"Owen!" Easton didn't expect Owen to be so stubborn. Owen was severely injured but still wouldn't reveal Cassidy's location.
"I left first that day, then Cassidy. Your car was right behind hers!"
Knowing Owen would deny it again, Easton added, "Don't say Cassidy is dead. If I'm asking, it means I know what happened."
"Cassidy isn't dead. The dead Cassidy was just a decoy I arranged."
Easton sat in the chair, staring coldly at Owen. "My plan was for Cassidy to switch cars midway, faking her death in a car accident."
"But at the scene, there was only my decoy, no Cassidy. Your car was right behind hers. Are you still denying it?"
