Easton got to the exhibition hall early, buzzing with excitement. The idea of Cassidy soon shedding her old identity and becoming his woman filled him with uncontrollable joy.
He was already daydreaming about their future together.
He'd throw Cassidy a huge wedding, and everyone would know she was the love of his life.
Every woman would envy Cassidy because of that wedding.
Soon, there would be a car accident, and news of Cassidy's death would spread.
But as time went on, Easton only heard about the accident, not Cassidy. The long wait made him more and more anxious, and a bad feeling started creeping in.
He quickly called the driver who was supposed to pick Cassidy up halfway, only to be told that Cassidy never showed up.
How could she not have shown up?
Suppressing his anger, Easton redialed the driver who had picked Cassidy up from the Cooper Manor.
The driver said Cassidy had gotten out of the car a while ago.
But the driver responsible for the midway pickup insisted he never saw Cassidy. So where had Cassidy gone?
"Did you give Cassidy the right pickup location or not?" he practically shouted, his unease growing. Without wasting any time, Easton jumped into his car and drove to the pickup location.
The driver, scared by Easton's outburst, stammered that he had indeed given Cassidy the correct directions.
After Cassidy left, he had taken another woman to the exhibition. This woman had the same build and wore the same clothes as Cassidy, a decoy Easton had arranged.
But after the accident, he got a call from the other driver, asking if he had really dropped Cassidy off at the pickup location.
Then the driver received Easton's questioning call, realizing Cassidy might be missing, and panic set in.
Easton was extremely anxious. The Cooper family had many enemies, and he feared Cassidy had been taken by one of them. But he also worried that Cassidy had tried to escape from him.
Easton remembered seeing birth control pills in Cassidy's room before leaving.
The maids said Cassidy hadn't let them clean her room for days, probably to hide the pills.
So that's how it was!
She didn't want to have his child!
She didn't even want to stay by his side!
Her recent nervousness wasn't because they were about to be together officially, but because she was planning to use today's opportunity.
When had Cassidy started planning all this?
Had she been considering using him since he proposed the fake death plan?
No, maybe even earlier.
Easton thought about Cassidy's investment projects.
He had thought she was just playing around with investments, so he had fully supported her decisions.
But now, thinking back, Cassidy had probably been preparing to leave the Cooper family all along!
Why would Cassidy do this?
He loved her so much. He could have forced their relationship into the open or used it to threaten her into staying with him.
But he knew she didn't like that, so he had used all his patience to carefully design an escape plan for her.
In the end, was he just a pawn she used?
Easton glared at the two drivers. They knew they had messed up, their faces pale, standing silently, not daring to make a sound, praying Easton would ignore them.
Under Easton's intense gaze, they felt cold sweat trickling down their backs, even their foreheads, almost unable to stand straight.
"Now, immediately, tell me everything that happened!"
"From the moment Cassidy got in the car until she disappeared, I want to know every detail!"
His eyes were cold and terrifying, like a dark abyss, exuding a suffocating fear.
The driver who had picked Cassidy up from the Cooper Manor almost fell to his knees.
"After I picked up Mrs. Cooper, I brought her straight here. Nothing happened in between."
"Was there anything unusual when she got out of the car?"
Easton's expression was icy, his voice squeezed out through gritted teeth, filled with uncontrollable anger.
The driver lowered his head even more, speaking cautiously, "There was nothing unusual when Mrs. Cooper got out. After I gave her directions, she thanked me and walked in the direction I pointed."
"After Mrs. Cooper left, I brought the decoy."
The car accident happened shortly after the driver got out of the car as planned. The woman inside died on the spot.
Her face was destroyed, and her identity could only be guessed from her belongings.
The first driver hadn't noticed anything unusual, and his words revealed no important information.
So the problem lay with the second driver.
Sensing Easton's gaze, the second driver quickly spoke up.
"I waited at the designated spot for Mrs. Cooper, but she never showed up. I thought it was strange and called him, but he said Mrs. Cooper had already gotten out."
"There was a fight on the road at that time. I worried Mrs. Cooper might have been caught up in it, so I looked around for her but couldn't find her."
Easton quickly caught the key point. "So you never saw Cassidy?"
The driver nodded.
So Cassidy disappeared on the way to the pickup spot.
"Do you know who was fighting?"
"Just some vagrants, fighting over something trivial."
So the fight had nothing to do with Cassidy.
How did Cassidy leave?
Could she really have left without a trace on her own?
"Is there anything else?"
The driver shook his head quickly. "No, I didn't see anything else."
Easton clenched his fists, his anger almost overwhelming him.
If Cassidy had run away, where could she have gone?
Damn it, he had been so happy about being with Cassidy soon that he hadn't noticed she wanted to leave him!
Easton was furious, wanting to kill everyone on the spot!
If they had kept a better eye on Cassidy, she wouldn't have disappeared!
Unable to hold back, Easton punched both drivers before storming back to the Cooper Manor, seething with anger.
He needed to search Cassidy's room. He was sure he would find something useful!
He didn't believe Cassidy could have done this alone. She must have had help, and if he found that person, he would find Cassidy!
He would find out who had secretly helped Cassidy!
