Chapter 62 Asking Owen for Help

After deciding to use the car accident Easton had planned to escape, Cassidy quickly formulated a plan in her mind.

Cassidy transferred another sum of money to Hailey, who called her immediately upon receiving it.

"Cassidy, why'd you send me more money?"

Cassidy wanted to tell Hailey about her plan but feared it would put Hailey in danger, so she kept it a secret.

Facing Hailey's question, she quickly thought of an explanation.

"Hailey, this money is for investment too. Just use it without worry."

"Really?" Hailey said, surprised.

But after the initial surprise, she began to worry. "But you've invested so much money in me. Are you sure it's okay?"

Cassidy had transferred money to Hailey twice now. The first investment was already a significant amount, and with this second transfer, the total was enormous.

Hailey knew Cassidy was now the head of the Cooper family and certainly not short on money, but such a large transfer of assets made her worry that Cassidy might be questioned by the Cooper family.

In Hailey's view, her fashion project was too small to catch the interest of a family as wealthy as the Coopers. If they found out Cassidy had transferred such large sums to her, wouldn't Cassidy be targeted?

Cassidy understood Hailey's concerns and gently reassured her.

"Don't worry. They know I've been investing lately. No one will say anything."

In the entire Cooper family, only Ryder scoffed at her investment activities. But with Easton's firm support, Ryder didn't dare say much.

After Cassidy repeatedly assured her that everything would be fine, Hailey was deeply moved and accepted Cassidy's investment.

Next, Cassidy needed to find someone to help her manipulate the car accident.

Besides Hailey, however, she had no friends. Perhaps Owen was the only one in the Cooper family who could help her.

Since Owen liked her, he surely wouldn't refuse if she asked for his help, right?

Having decided to seek Owen's help, Cassidy immediately asked a servant where Owen was and learned he was in the greenhouse.

Cassidy headed straight to the greenhouse.

Vibrant flowers bloomed freely in the greenhouse, lively and beautiful. Sunlight streamed through the glass roof, gently illuminating each flower and giving them a golden glow.

The air was filled with the fresh, sweet scent of flowers, creating a serene and delightful atmosphere.

When Cassidy arrived, she saw Owen watering the flowers.

"Owen." She called his name and slowly approached him.

Owen turned around, surprised to hear her voice. When he confirmed he wasn't mistaken, his hand holding the watering can trembled, spilling water onto the ground.

Cassidy laughed at his startled reaction. She glanced at the wet ground and teased him, "Snap out of it, you spilled the water."

Owen looked down in a panic, awkwardly setting the watering can aside, his expression uneasy.

He opened his mouth, unsure how to address Cassidy.

When Ashton was alive, she was his stepmother, but they hadn't interacted much, let alone chatted.

After Ashton's death, their relationship had grown closer, and he had started calling her by her name.

Every time she responded to him, Owen felt a sense of satisfaction and joy.

But now that he knew about Cassidy and Easton's relationship and Easton's desire to marry her, he felt ashamed and didn't know how to interact with Cassidy.

Owen turned away in a fluster, picking up the watering can to continue watering the flowers, trying to appear calm. "What brings you here?"

He avoided Cassidy's gaze, but his nervous actions betrayed his emotions.

"Do you always water the flowers here?"

Cassidy pretended not to notice his nervousness and slowly approached him.

As she got closer, Owen's body tensed, and the watering can wobbled.

Cassidy reached out to touch the vibrant flowers, the water droplets on the petals making them look even more beautiful.

"Yeah, I come here to water the flowers when I have free time."

He wanted to avoid her proximity, but he found his body wouldn't obey his mind.

Even though he knew he should keep his distance from Cassidy, he still felt a sense of anticipation when she approached.

What was he hoping for?

"Owen."

Lost in thought, Owen was startled when Cassidy suddenly called his name.

His thoughts scattered, and he instinctively looked at Cassidy.

He saw her bending down to smell the flowers, then slightly tilting her head to look at him. "Do you like these flowers?"

She was slightly bent over, her hand on the freshly watered flower, her face close to the petals, looking up at him. The flower seemed to be nestled in her hair.

Sunlight fell on half of her beautiful face, and when she smiled, her eyes curved slightly, sparkling like stars, incredibly captivating.

Owen felt his breath catch for a moment and quickly looked down. "They're pretty."

His vague response made it unclear whether he was describing the flowers or her.

Cassidy noticed his nervousness and felt a bit relieved.

She had thought Owen wouldn't want to talk to her after she rejected him, but it seemed he still cared about her.

She straightened up and moved closer to Owen again, this time reaching for the watering can in his hand.

"I've never watered flowers before. May I have a try?"

Before Owen could react, her hand was already covering his, and as his body stiffened, she calmly took the watering can from him.

Owen stared blankly as Cassidy took the can, and when he realized what had just happened, his ears turned red with embarrassment.

Cassidy lowered her head to water the flowers, occasionally asking, "Am I doing this right?"

Owen stiffly nodded, then quickly said, "Yes, that's right," when he realized she hadn't seen his nod.

After watering for a while, Cassidy set the can down.

She didn't look at Owen, instead slowly walking around the greenhouse, occasionally bending down to smell the beautiful flowers.

Owen, influenced by her actions, instinctively followed her.

Cassidy slowed her pace, and when Owen realized it, they were walking side by side, so close that only a fist's width separated their shoulders.

Owen's face turned red, and he shyly tried to slow down.

But Cassidy suddenly spoke, disrupting his thoughts, "Owen, I came to you today because I need your help."

He instinctively asked, "With what?"

Cassidy hesitated, unsure if she should tell Owen about her plan. Under his questioning gaze, she decided not to reveal it just yet.

"Owen, what I need help with might be dangerous."

"If you're not willing, I can find someone else."

As soon as she finished speaking, Owen eagerly replied, "I'm willing!"
