When Cassidy got to the garden, she found Easton and Owen just sitting there calmly, looking like they hadn't been in a fight at all.
She rushed over, all panicked, which just made them more confused.
"Cassidy? What's up?" Owen asked.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" Easton added.
Their calm reactions made Cassidy second-guess if she had misheard the servant. She glanced back at the servant trailing behind her, who also looked puzzled.
Easton walked over, asking, "What's going on?"
Cassidy suddenly didn't know what to say, her eyes darting between them, her fingers pointing back and forth. "What were you guys doing just now?"
Owen quickly answered, but he was looking at Easton. "Nothing special."
Easton nodded in agreement. "Yeah, tell her what we were doing."
"I had some personal stuff to talk about with Easton, so I called him here. Why are you so freaked out? Did something happen?" Cassidy studied him but only saw a sincere expression.
She frowned slightly, thinking, 'I couldn't have misheard the servant. They must have fought. Even though they don't have any obvious injuries, their clothes and hair are messy, which screams fight. But why are they hiding it? What did they fight about?'
Cassidy wanted answers, but their expressions made it clear they didn't want her to know the truth, so she kept her doubts to herself.
"You made such a commotion, so I thought you were fighting," Cassidy said, watching their faces closely, but they were so good at pretending that she couldn't see any signs of guilt.
"Of course not, we had a pleasant conversation, right, Owen?" Easton said, looking at Cassidy but asking Owen, his tone a bit threatening.
"Really?" Cassidy asked, still suspicious.
Owen nodded immediately. "That's right."
Since they insisted they hadn't fought, Cassidy had no choice but to nod. "Alright, then carry on." She was about to leave when Owen quickly walked over and grabbed her hand.
Cassidy felt a cold stare on her wrist when Owen grabbed it, making her break out in a cold sweat, so she quickly pulled her hand away.
Owen looked a bit stunned but quickly composed himself. "Cassidy, if anything's bothering you, you have to tell me. I'll always be here for you!"
Owen's gaze shifted from Cassidy to Easton, almost gritting his teeth as he continued. "No matter what troubles you face, I'll always be here to listen. If you want, I'll do everything I can to help you deal with whatever's causing you distress."
Cassidy felt extremely uncomfortable, and after pulling away from Owen, she felt the cold stare disappear. But before she could calm down, she heard Owen's loaded words.
She immediately looked up at Owen, and at that moment, Owen's eyes just turned back to her.
Cassidy was confused; she didn't get why Owen would say such things in front of Easton.
Easton already suspected their relationship, and Owen's words were too ambiguous. Given Easton's personality, he'd definitely think there was something going on between her and Owen.
Cassidy anxiously looked at Easton's expression, only to see him smiling calmly at Owen, but his eyes were ice-cold.
Easton pulled Cassidy behind him, blocking Owen's view. "Cassidy will tell me if she needs anything. She doesn't need your help, and I'll handle all her problems."
Cassidy could feel the tension between them and had a pretty good idea why they were at odds. She felt a bit helpless, thinking she had made things clear to Owen, yet he still clashed with Easton over her.
"Easton, you can't protect her at all!" Owen shouted.
Easton sneered, "If I can't protect her, who can? You? A guy who hasn't even graduated from college? Owen, it seems you still haven't learned to see yourself clearly."
Easton's provocative attitude made Owen even angrier. He clenched his fists tightly. If Cassidy weren't there, he might have already punched Easton.
Seeing Owen's clenched fist, Easton raised an eyebrow, looking smug. "Want to hit me? Go ahead, hit me in the face!"
Cassidy knew Easton was deliberately provoking Owen, and she could almost hear Owen's teeth grinding.
"Easton, you're too arrogant!" Owen roared.
"Owen, if you're a man, stop being so verbose!"
Cassidy was getting really upset. She didn't want to be the cause of a fight between the brothers. Owen was still just a kid who hadn't graduated yet; he had no chance against Easton and might even get hurt.
Hearing them argue more and more fiercely, Cassidy finally couldn't stand it. She stepped out from behind Easton. "Can you both stop arguing? I don't need your protection; I can take care of myself! I don't care what just happened here, but I don't want to see you arguing over trivial matters any longer!"
They seemed to want to say something more but were silenced by Cassidy's glare. "Go back now!"
They fell silent, but their eyes continued to glare at each other, as if they were trying to strip the other's skin with their gaze.
Cassidy angrily stared at them. "If you keep arguing, I will definitely ignore you both!" She couldn't think of any other way to stop their argument, so she had to use herself as leverage.
After saying this, Cassidy no longer looked at them and turned to leave. However, she asked the butler to prepare two portions of ointment and instructed him to send one to Owen's room. Although she didn't see any wounds on them, they must have had a fierce fight, and they might be covered in injuries under their clothes.
After taking the other portion of ointment from the butler, Cassidy went straight upstairs.
Owen wanted to continue warning Easton, but fearing Cassidy's displeasure, he obediently returned to his room.
But what he didn't expect was to see the ointment on his bed as soon as he entered the room. He instantly guessed who had prepared it, feeling a surge of emotion. He tightly gripped the bottle of ointment, unable to help but sigh inwardly, 'Cassidy doesn't want me to like her, but she's so wonderful; how could I not develop a crush on her?'
Meanwhile, Easton also chose to return to his room.
He wanted to drag Owen out and beat him up again, but Cassidy was already angry. He didn't want to make her more upset.
But when he opened the door, to his surprise, he saw Cassidy sitting on his bed.
