Chapter 13 She Chose Owen

Hailey burst out laughing as they left. "Cassidy, you're a genius! They thought you'd give them the jewelry and even reached for the box! They must regret badmouthing you now. I wanted to confront them, but your way was better!"

Cassidy couldn't help but laugh along with Hailey, feeling much better.

"Cassidy, this calls for a celebration! Let me buy you a dress!" Hailey said, excited.

"Sure," Cassidy said, leaning on Hailey's shoulder with a smile. "In return, you have to pick something you like from these jewels to take home!"

Hailey nodded eagerly.

Cassidy and Hailey bought a ton more stuff at the mall and finally headed home in the evening.

When Cassidy got home, she ran into Easton. They weren't planning to talk, but as they passed each other, Cassidy remembered she wanted to take Hailey to the Moore family wedding.

"Easton, I want to bring my friend to the Moore family wedding," Cassidy said, stopping in her tracks.

Easton turned to look at her, his expression unreadable. Just as Cassidy was about to ask what he was thinking, he gave a mocking smile. "Then you better keep an eye on your friend. If she ends up in the wrong room like you did, it'll cause us a lot of trouble."

Cassidy's face fell, unable to understand why Easton was still so hostile, even mocking her friend.

"That's my business, so don't worry about it!" Cassidy snapped through gritted teeth and stormed off to her room without waiting for Easton's response.

'Damn Easton, couldn't he just talk to me nicely?' Cassidy angrily pounded her pillow.

On the day of the Moore family wedding, Cassidy wore the black dress Hailey bought for her. The dress hugged her curves perfectly, showing off her figure.

The hem of the dress swayed gently with her steps, giving off a mysterious and noble vibe.

The neckline showed off her flawless skin, and the jewelry necklace around her neck sparkled in the light, adding a special charm to her black dress and enhancing her noble aura.

When Cassidy walked out, she was confident and elegant, making it hard for anyone to look away. Her stepsons were already waiting downstairs, each standing by their car. Cassidy had to choose one to go to the wedding with.

Cassidy greeted them first and then glanced at Easton, who was already ready to open the car door for her. But then, she shifted her gaze. Easton's hand froze on the car handle.

Cassidy knew Easton was waiting for her, but she didn't want to be with him today. She looked over at Owen, who was standing off to the side, captivated by her beauty.

When Cassidy walked out, Owen was immediately entranced by her, his eyes glued to her. He knew Cassidy had to pick one of them to go with, and even though he figured she might not choose him, he still secretly hoped she would.

Owen missed the brief exchange between Cassidy and Easton, but when Cassidy turned to him, his heart raced as she gracefully walked his way.

Cassidy gave a gentle smile, "Owen, can I go with you?"

"Of course you can!" Owen blurted out, not expecting his wish to come true so quickly. He didn't know if it was divine intervention or if Cassidy had somehow heard his silent plea.

He nervously opened the car door and watched Cassidy bend down to get in, finally realizing she had really chosen him. He didn't even glance at Easton's reaction, too excited as he got into the car himself.

Easton didn't expect Cassidy to choose Owen. He frowned as he watched her get in the car, and when Owen closed the door, he angrily opened his own car door and got in, slamming it shut.

The loud bang startled the driver in the front seat. Seeing Easton's dark and terrifying expression in the rearview mirror, the driver held his breath.

Owen sat nervously next to Cassidy, her perfume subtly enveloping him. As the scent reached him, he shyly shifted closer to the car door, trying to create a bit more space between them.

Cassidy didn't know what Owen was thinking. She chose to go with Owen because she saw him as a kid, not as a grown man. To her, going with a 27-year-old mature man was much more dangerous than with an 18-year-old teenager.

But after they got in the car, it was too quiet inside, making Cassidy feel a bit awkward, so she started looking for a topic. "Owen, how are things going with the Moore family's daughter? Maybe soon, you'll have your engagement party."

Owen felt annoyed hearing about the Moore family. A few days ago, after being warned by Easton, he tried to get close to the Moore family's daughter, but he couldn't lie to himself.

Lowering his head, he subconsciously confessed to Cassidy, "I don't like her."

Cassidy was a bit surprised. The marriage between the Cooper family and the Moore family had been decided long ago. If it weren't for Ashton's illness, the engagement party would have already happened. But now Owen was saying he didn't like the Moore family's daughter?

She wanted to ask why, but this was Owen's personal matter. As Owen's stepmother, it wasn't appropriate for her to interfere in his personal feelings.
