Chapter 64

Damien POV

“What the hell did you do, Cassandra?” I shouted again.

She blinked at me, pretending to be confused.

“Damien, I don’t know what you’re talking about. What do you mean?”

I laughed, shaking my head. She was one hell of a good actress. “Don’t. Just don’t try to fool me. You know what I mean. I know everything, Cassandra, so cut the act.”

She folded her arms. “And what exactly do you think you know?”

I stepped closer. “I know you planned it all. The elevator. The security. The investors. Every damn

thing.”

She staggered back, looking shocked. I thought she was going to deny it again, but instead, she threw her hands up and laughed.

“You finally caught me. So, what are you going to do about it, darling?” she said as she placed her

hands on me.

“Yes! I was the one who organized everything. But can you really blame me?”

“You’re unbelievable,” I muttered as I removed her hand.

She scoffed. “Oh, please. Stop the act. Don’t pretend as if you never wanted me back. You led me on,

Damien.”

I stepped back. She really was something else. “Led you on? And what do you mean? I never even wanted you in the first place and made that clear to you a thousand times,” I said.

“You have no right to talk to me like that!”

“I have every right!” I shot back. “You tried to trap me. You manipulated everything. And for what?”

“For love, Damien. Love makes you do the craziest things,” she said.

“You are really sick,” I said in disgust.

“Do you

think Julie really loved you? If she truly did, she never would have left you. She would have fought for you. So please, I did you a huge favor. And besides, this proves just how far I’m willing to go for you.”

Cassandra laughed, shaking her head. “You still don’t get it, do you? Do you know how much I did to get you? Julie would never do that for you! She would never fight like I did for you!”

“And what did you do, Cassandra?”

She waved her hand dismissively at me.

“Do you really want to know? You probably don’t, and it doesn’t matter anymore.”

“Tell me. Now,” I demanded.

She sighed dramatically, flipping her hair. “Because of you, I slept with that old bastard, Damien. And that was how I secured the deal for you.”

I chuckled. This was more than I bargained for.

“Why do you think they insisted I should work with you?” she went on, clearly enjoying this. “You think it was because of my skills? No, Damien. It was because I made sure they had a reason to choose me.”

“You’re insane,” I said in shock.

“No, Damien. I’m in love. Love made me do this,” she said as she caressed my chest.

I grabbed her wrist and pushed her, shoving her against the wall. “And that so–called love will ruin you.”

She smirked. “It’s too late for that.”

“You really don’t know who I am, do you?” she said, laughing. “You think you can just… ruin me? That’s not possible, Damien. My ex–husband tried. And look where that got him.”

“What are you talking about?” I asked, trying to play her game.

She grinned. “I framed him. I made sure everyone believed he hit me, that he cheated on me. I destroyed him, Took everything he had. He left the company with nothing before he divorced me.”

“I just needed to shed some tears here and there, and people fell for it like fools,” she said while laughing.

I let out a humorless laugh. “Wow,” I muttered, pulling out my phone.

She frowned. “What are you doing?”

I smirked. “You just gave me more than enough, Cassandra. More than I even needed.”

She stared at me.

“Wh… what the hell did you do?” she stammered.

“You really deserve a round of applause,” I said as I clapped for her.

“Bravo, Cassandra. Very impressive.”

“Damien… what did you do?” she asked again, hitting my chest.

I held up my phone. “You and I just ended up on a live broadcast.”

“No… no, you’re lying,” she said, staggering backward.

I pointed out her window.

“I’d say in about two minutes, your house will be full of reporters.”

She screamed, grabbed my phone, and threw it against the wall. But I laughed–she was acting pathetic.

“Throwing my phone won’t change anything,” I said.

“It’s already out. Everyone heard you.”

She lunged at me, trying to slap me, but I caught her wrist midair and pushed her hard against the wall again.

She shouted, her eyes wide. I held her neck, making her choke. “You’re lucky you’re a woman, Cassandra,” I muttered, adding more pressure. “Because if you weren’t, you would have gotten your face bruised by now,” I said, enjoying her choking sounds.

“Damien-”

I flung her body onto the bed, glancing toward the window again. The press was already outside.

“You always loved attention, didn’t you?” I murmured. “Well, now you’ve got the world’s attention. That should keep you distracted from me!

She shook her head and screamed.

“No! No! No, this can’t bel” she yelled, throwing things.

“You ruined me, Damien!”

“And for the record, the reason why Julie would never do something like this is because she isn’t as pathetic as you. And one more thing–you never loved me, Cassandra. You treated me like your possession, one of your little fantasies,” I said.

“You bastard,” she cursed. “You will pay for all this,” she said.

I turned toward the door, ignoring her as I grabbed the handle. “Oh,” I said, turning back, “you might want to put on something decent. It’s going to be a long day.”

Then I opened the door and walked out, letting the reporters flood in.

As the reporters entered her house, she quickly ran to a room and locked herself in. I just laughed at her pathetic sight; she deserved it.
