Chapter 13 Criminal

Taehyung came after twenty minutes. You were outside of your house, waiting with your luggages beside you. He wasn't riding his usual ride, this time he brought a car.

He went down and walk towards you, "You're fine?" He asked.

You smile at him sadly, you shook your head.

"Let's get you out of here." He smiled as he took your luggages and put them at the compartment.

You went in the passenger seat, put on your seatbelt and stared outside of the window. You were silent and you didn't have any energy to cry anymore.

Taehyung got in the car and started the engine, and before you knew it, you were already miles away from your home. You were watching the streetlight you were passing by every seconds as you took a deep breath.

"Please talk." He said in between the silence.

"It's suffocating." You said, almost not in your right mind.

"I'm sorry." He said, glancing at you.

"It's not your fault." You shook your head.

He shouldn't say sorry, in fact, you should be the one saying sorry for disturbing him at the middle of the night. And you're also thankful that he got your back at the most random times. You looked at him and saw how focused he was on driving.

You know now why your sister loves this man beside you. Kara may not need him to catch her because she never falls but you're sure he did love her right, after all, Kara deserves all the love that is right and true in this world.

"Where should we go?" He asked.

"Is the door next to you still available?" You asked, he glance at you before he nodded.

It was the only place you could think of at this moment.

He put your luggage inside your flat when you were given the key to it, "I'll leave you now. Knock on my door when you need anything." He said, putting his hands on his waist.

You nodded, "Rest now, Y/n. You've had a rough day." He said before he went out and close your door.

You smiled at him until you're only smiling at the door. You turn around and look at your flat. Now that he's gone, you felt so alone in this room. You feel like there's nobody there for you anymore, not even your parents. Not even your mom that made you felt like your daughter in the last minute. But you're thankful she took that chance to make a change even if its a little too late.

You're lucky that your studio flat already has its basic furniture, it has a bed, a couch, a kitchen and a dining table. But you didn't have any electronic machines, plates or pans for your kitchen, not even a fridge, you don't have a television too.

Your mother gave you two cards, your own card excluded that contains your savings. But you're not one to depend on it, you have to work still to support yourself. This may be enough for your study, flat and the things you need to buy for the flat but this will run out eventually, you'll have to feed yourself with your own money.

So you planned to apply for a part time job before you go to your school tomorrow but foe now, you'll have to fix your clothes and bed so that you'll have a place to sleep.

But as you open your luggage, your tears break from your eyes and you try to contain your sobs to yourself, scared that Taehyung might hear your cries next door. You didn't want to cause him trouble anymore.

Maybe your dad is right, maybe you're unlucky, maybe you bring misfortune that's why you're going through all of this but you didn't mean to put them with you in this agony.

You try to finish unpacking your clothes while you cry and embrace loneliness by yourself. You stopped crying when a notebook fell from your clothes. You look at it with confusion. These clothes were in your closet and you never put a notebook in there.

Furthermore, you've never seen this notebook before. You picked it up from the floor, the notebook had a baby blue cover with 'There's no satisfaction even for happy people.' in front. You could only think of Kara the moment you saw the baby blue cover.

You slowly opened it and a polaroid of you and your twin fell to the floor. It was the last Halloween she had before she died, she was dressed up as Juliet with her white dress and wings while you were dressed up as a girl version of Frankenstein.

Then you saw her name written at the first page of the notebook. It seems to be her diary when she was still alive. Why it was in your closet was a question to you but you have a feeling that Kara wants you to read it.

You sat on your bed and turn to the next page where her entry starts. It started on the first day of your sophomore year, she narrates how her day went and you can't help but to feel like she's still here and not dead, when you finished reading her first entry, you started to scan the diary. She should've written something about Taehyung at least.

You were right because in some pages you catch a glimpse of his name. You continued to read the next few entries until you fell asleep.

You did your plan the next say, you woke up early and left your flat. Taehyung was still asleep, you guessed since his motorcycle was still there. You tried to find a job at restaurants but you found your tiny bit of luck in a coffee shop two rides away from your studio flat and school.

The owner of the shop walks in from his office, he wore this navy blue polo shirt and has a great smile. Perhaps, he's in his late 20s.

"You can work here after school until seven at the evening, then you have a whole day shift on Saturdays. You have your day off on Sundays. I can offer you two hundred dollars per week as a part timer." He said directly with no beating around the bush.

You need job for your food and other desires, four hundred dollars seems okay for a working student like you. You nodded at him and accepted his offer. He said you can start the shift tomorrow but you have to come back here later for a little orientation.

When lunch came, Nayeon decided to stay inside the room but since you haven't eaten anything for breakfast and break, you decided you'll eat for lunch. You tried to convince her to come with you at the cafeteria.

She agrees but only if you pay for her. Your money is limited but you're not experiencing scarcity so you nodded. You took your wallet out of your bag but a picture fell from it.

Nayeon catches it, her brows furrowed when she saw the picture, "There's two you?" She asked.

You gulp at her as you watch her face. She doesn't know anything but there's no point denying that you have a sister now, all you have to do is not let her dig too much.

"No, silly. That's my sister. My twin." You answered.

Her face switches from confused to amazed, "You have a twin? Where is she right now? Why isn't she studying here too?" She asked as she clings to your arm.

"She's in my old school." Or at least her memories.

Nayeon nodded and keeps on talking about how much you look like each other until you reach the cafeteria that is too silent to be normal. Nayeon stops when she notice it too.

Everyone was looking at you which made you confuse and nervous. Your heart started to pick up its pace, they don't really give you this much attention before so why are they all looking right now.

You heard a clap echoing in the silent corners of the cafeteria. You saw Margo's strawberry blonde hair curled and kept into a high ponytail. She smiled at you.

"Would you look at that? Who would've guess that our school is housing a criminal? A killer of her own blood." She said.

She stood up, "Why don't you tell us about Kara? About what you did to your sister? Y/n, how did you kill your sister?"

Your eyes wander around the faces of the students inside the cafeteria. They were all looking at you and throwing you judgemental looks like they despise you. Like they know all your secrets. You started to hyperventilate.

Nayeon walks over the nearest table and took the paper in front of the student. There's a picture of your sister in the flyer and a news article with her name as a headline when she died. You weren't sure what was written in that article but for the students to throw you these stares only means one thing, they know about what happened to your sister.

Nayeon looks at you, "Is this true, Y/n?" She asked as she hands you the flyer.

Her questioning face stands out from the rest of the students and you didn't want her confused look to be just like the other students. But you don't know how to face this, you don't know how to face this and how to embrace your nightmare.
