Chapter 31
Brenda Gets the wrong idea
The actions were strange to her own self, she ended up cackling up and as she threw her head behind, Leo asked his question, targeting her at the midpoint.
"Will you be my lover, Cherry?" he demanded.
She hadn't heard it yet, in fact, she heard, but the words had not settled in her brain. For it to even do so, it was a big challenge and is one of those things she really doesn't find pleasure in admitting it.
"Wait, what?" Cherry asked her eyes dancing around the man's face. In her mind, she thought that they had something already going on there, but there he was asking her such a question again.
Leo had lost his courage. For a man, he knows that he shouldn't be this weak, but it is not his fault, it has never been, so there is no big deal in pointing arrows At anyone.
"I know you heard, Cherry, so please spare the embarrassment to ask again," he said.
She gave him that lopsided smile, if he wasn't going to give in to him, then, he might as well play those tough rounds, and more.
Cherry laughed, her eyes showed signs of happiness, but she wasn't going to relent from teasing the old man.
"Come on Leo, tell me what I want to hear, huh!" she said sweetly.
The expression on her face bespoke a lot, she knew she had accepted to be Leo's lover even before saying it and that is the plain truth.
"I want you to be my lover," the young man exclaimed.
It was that nice the way that she said it, and even though there was a little shaking here and there, it couldn't have been any better and Leo knows about that so well.
Cherry stopped giggling, she was now serious and her eyes bore directly into the man's own. It was insane, in fact talking about such things and also blocking it out is like accepting everything that is being said.
Nothing is going to be damaged, hell no! but importantly, she has to find herself in a relationship, not only that, but her partner is going to her Hanks.
"I disturb a lot once in a relationship, Leo, what if things change for the worse between us and we lose this beautiful friendship of ours because of a relationship?" Cherry questioned.
Leo used a moment to gulp down his saliva, Cherry wasn't being wrong, these are just the disadvantages and the negative sides of venturing further into anything that concerns emotions.
"Have you been hurt before? you talk like someone who has," Leo said softly.
Cherry was indeed going to shout to you! but she bit her tongue really hard, she was so glad she did so, nothing was damaged and she was more than excited that they could go through all of that stress and still be normal, and even more energetic.
Cherry had once been in love with Leo, that was a long time ago of course, and she will never bring that to the forefront now. It is needless to do so, even if she wants to, her past with him will be left out of this.
"No," she replied.
That was a naked response and the quizzical look that Leo shot at her was enough to tell her that he wanted more of the lies, at least, she should add something random to those words because it was not worth telling her those things anymore.
"I mean, I have heard of cases where many people get hurt because of love, it is not easy, but still, such things do happen, and even though it has, it is more like adding more fuel to a blazing fire," the young man said.
It was insane saying those words to Cherry, in fact, she randomly says a lot of things, and even when it is being said, her low self-esteem would drag her to the ground for being that loud.
Leo on his part was amazed by the lady, she has every right to feel insecure, but what he wants to assure her of is that she will never lack, nor will she want anything either. That apart, worldly things will never satisfy a lady more than her man's presence.
He can be available for her, it can't be any harder than he already is.
"Babe?" Leo called out to Cherry.
From his half-closed eyelids, he saw her lifting her coconut, and using the straw, she sipped from it a little bit. When she placed it before her, she responded to him.
"Yes, Leo," she said sweetly.
Everything on Cherry turned Leo on, oh yes, it does. He loves the way she was crazy, the way her feathery words always leave his mouth, and the fact that it can never get any better than what is at stake already.
"I love you," he said.
Cherry was more than grateful that the big ball of coconut was not in her hands because she would have dropped it off, and if it was in her mouth, she would have splashed the content in her mouth straight on the man. She was glad that it was different now. More than she can even expect it.
"I love you too," Cherry replied her like quavering.
Her love words sank so deeply in the young man's head, he could not believe his ears, and indeed, it caused his eyes to be moist, more than he had accepted, that was a pleasant go-to, and no matter what is going on, he knew just how to take it on from her.
Even though Cherry had said that her head had quickly dropped to the ground because she was embarrassed by the fact that Leo would see her, she would melt down if they had direct eye contact now.
She might have been acting up a while ago, but she behaved like she did not know who the hell Leo Hanks was. He always loves getting to the roots of things. It makes him even happier to tease his victims, and that was insane, oh yes! it was.
Leo got hold of Cherry's chin with his index finger and that large thumb of his. He played with it sweetly, and lifting it up gently with little pressure applied to it, he was excited to look into Cherry's eyes.
"I am not one of those many people who go around disrespecting ladies and hurting them. I love you and want to be committed to you alone, Cherry," Leo said shooting his words directly at her face.
It was there that Cherry knew he had won his heart completely for the second time.
Leticia had made her way into the house and she found her flatmate sitting on the sofa eating some chips mixed with popcorn, with her eyes focused on the television and she greeted her while rushing to the bathroom to empty her system from the urine that she had been pressing inside of her.
What a relief after she had that done and the next thing, was for her to come back with a smile, talking to Brenda about bringing her food since she knows that she loves to eat, and she still found her in that same position.
"Brenda?" Leticia called out her name, she hoped that she what had happened to her and when she got no response, she moved closer to her to know what was going on, only to find Brenda's face covered up with tears and she wasn't looking a thought she was fine.
Not knowing what could have taken place, Leticia was ware that Brenda was the only kid to her parents and though they weren't that wealthy, they still gave her everything that she wanted and it was impossible for her to be sad given that she was a spoilt brat.
But there she was weeping and staring at the same spot like some psychopath and Leticia not being able to hold back herself, she laid her right hand on her left shoulder and with her lips asking what the matter was, Brenda shook from her world and with some drops of gashes falling from her eyes, she called out Leticia's real name while her face got twisted again and she continued with her sobbing.
"What is the matter? Why are you in such a state? Did Frank come here again to harass you?" Leticia feeling all angered, raised a question but Brenda wasn't speaking which was so unlike her.
From that, she got to feel her pain some more and she decided to just console her without asking any further questions. They sat down like that for some time, before Leticia good her to go eat her food before it gets cold.
Brenda took up her head and said thank you without talking about what was wrong with her. She felt like a fool as she looked at Leticia, but what pained her the most was the fact that she had spent more than a good part of her evening imagining the things that Leo and that lady could be doing so much that, her friend had come and met her there.
"How dumb can you be girl?" Brenda asked herself not believing that she was in such a state. Yes, both girls were not that close and that was the gap that was coming more from the fact that Leticia couldn't trust anyone.
Growing up without a mother, she was so scared and questionable about everyone about her so much that, it had always saved her from getting into unnecessary troubles. She felt bad seeing her friend in that condition, but she had to wait for her to tell her what the matter was before she could say anything.
Brenda wiped her face and walked toward the table with a smile on her face and when she saw the food, she thanked Leticia for bringing it and immediately began to look for a match to give in some flames to the gas.
Catching sight of how she struggled, Leticia could not leave her there and get into her room. She told her to let it be, but Brenda told her that it was okay, and adding to that, she said she was going down the road to get a match since the microwave was bad and she couldn't eat the cold food.
"Are you sure?" Leticia not liking the moody Brenda that she was having before her, she asked and Brenda nodded before leaving the kitchen for the living room where she picked up her jacket and headed for the door.
"I am going with you, I have no trust in this nice Brenda that I have here." Leticia not wasting time, let out and Brenda gave her a cold look, she spoke up,
"Suit yourself."
Unlocking the door, the first person that her eyes caught sight of was Cherry who was walking outside and Leo came out too from behind, with his shirtless body and that just worsened everything leading to a complete resentment from Brenda which was glaring in the way she stared at the young man.
