Chapter 24

Aliyah shows her first insecurity towards Leticia

The joy that could be seen on Aliyah'd face, when she heard Mrs. Shepherd inviting her to the house, was bigger than anything she could have on and unexpected to her, she had no idea who she was going to meet at the house that day over lunch.

Making her way into the house after leaving her car which was picked up from the auto shop that day, her jaws almost dropped down in shock at the sight of who she had before her.

"Leticia? What are you doing here?" Her question and voice made Leticia to turn around to see her since she had already made her out from her vocal but Aliyah showing her real self, she walked backward, with an expression that showed how irritated she was.

"Do not care come closer to me with your poverty-stricken self. Yuck, you make me wanna throw up." Her words were so harsh that Leticia felt like she was hallucinating.

"What was that for? why will you speak to me in such a manner when I didn't do anything but to want to give you a handshake?"

Leticia's words only made her to laugh and with that, she shook at her head, and at the sight of the effect of what her phrases were doing to Leticia, she looked at her and said,

"Oh, poor thing. I think that you have to get a check so that you will not keep on feeling as though I am being too hard on you okay? We are not friends for the records and we will never be honey. Know this and know peace."

Aliyah was certainly pissed about something and that was not only by seeing Leticia there at Shepherd's mansion. She had no clue that she will find Leticia there and yes, that was not included in the plan which Mrs. Shepherd had given to her.

"How rude can she be? And to think that it's a serious contradiction to her beauty!!" Leticia exclaimed before turning her back to check on little Tessa with whom she was playing before the killed of all joys and tranquility came to disturb their peace.

"Hey, I am not done talking to you, idiot." Aliyah not being able to control her emotions, spilled it out over her and at that point, Leticia could not take the humiliation anymore.

Standing on her feet and telling her not to bother her with such unpleasant words ever again, she told Aliyah to mind her words and even added that, if she had something she wanted to say, she should go ahead and do so rather than chattering everywhere like some lousy box.

"What?" Aliyah being unable to believe that Leticia had spoken to her in that manner, she exclaimed in shock with her mouth wide open. She was in total disbelief and if she could turn back the scenario to have her take back what she had just said to her a while ago, she would do that.

"What is what? You didn't expect to bully me right Miss Aliyah?" The never for her to try to make Leticia to feel little about herself, made the lady to give her a piece of her mind so that she could have it shoved down her throat.

Turning again to play with Tessa who was bonding well with her, Aliyah couldn't stand the sight of it, and as usual, letting her jealousy take the greater part of her, she rushed to the other side to have her hands taken off the baby when Leticia gave her a stern look as she wondered what Aliyah's problem was.

But before she could know what was going on, they began dragging over who should be with the baby and who has no right to be with her and the next thing Leticia felt, was a slap on her face precisely on her left cheek which left her in surprise.

Strutting for some seconds with her left hand on her cheek, her countenance showed how disgruntled she was and she was also in wonder as to what was going on inside Aliyah's head for her to do something like that.

She was about to strike back when Rowan entered the compartment and Aliyah standing in the opposite direction, she was able to catch sight easily of Rowan, and then the devil in her, gave her some more tricks to exhibit her cruel character.

"Rowan, thank God that you are here, you won't believe what had just taken place." Aliyah playing the victim, began and at that moment, Mrs. Shepherd too was coming down the stairs and she immediately caught sight of the situation.

"What is going on here? Why are you in tears Aliyah?" Mrs. Shepherd asked with her face not looking bright and Aliyah acting as though she was catching her breath, she couldn't speak.

"I am sorry about this, Grace gets her a glass of water so that she can drink from it." She instructed the maid to go get it and Rowan, not knowing what had taken place, approached Leticia, and in a slow tone, he inquired about what had gone on and also why Aliyah had screamed like that.

"Sir, it's nothing. It was just a misunderstanding and you shouldn't worry about anything." She spoke out not wanting the situation to look worst than it was already.

Brenda, climbing on the stairs due to electricity maintenance, was not ready to meet anyone after the incident which had taken place the previous day, she was covered with shame and she felt as though the whole world was on her head.

Not having any idea of what could have taken place last night after she had slept off, Brenda only woke up to see herself on her bed with her friend beside her. She was not having that kind of a close relationship with Ava but after catching a glimpse of her curdling bedside that morning, she got to understand that, Ava was more than a friend and she had taken care of her.

Reaching her door, the images of the previous day, flashed back before her eyes and beyond all reasonable doubt, Brenda felt bad for not appearing before Leo's door to say thank you for that early morning before disappearing for work.

"You are such an ungrateful person Brenda. How could you just leave like that, knowing fully well, that he almost got hit all because of you yesterday?" He conscious began to deal with her and she couldn't take it anymore.

Brenda stood in the hallways which almost led to her floor, confused, and with the tensed look on her face, one could tell that she was going through a rough time.

Consulting herself whether or not she should knock on the door of the fine young man, Leo, who had saved her yesterday from the hands of her psychopathic ex-boyfriend, Brenda found herself in a complete dilemma and she was even more pained for not having the courage or perception to call the cops on him to have his sorry ass locked up behind bars for assaults.

Just as she was still there, wondering about the most difficult thing to do, Brenda was taken unaware as she gave attention to the door, unlocking from inside, and to her greatest dismay, the young man came out in a white singlet, passing over a pair a lot flourish shorts and a pair of dark slippers.

His eyes were shining bright, while his face knew no sorrow nor hardship. And with such a view, their both eyes met, with Brenda swallowing her tongue and praying for the earth to just open up and swallow her up for she has failed to do a simple task beforehand and had been caught.
