Chapter 70 Left yet
That person was actually Oliver.
For a long moment, the hall remained so quiet that even the faint hum of the air conditioner could be heard.
Those who had just been whispering about her, doubting her and siding with Ivy, now felt heat crawl up their necks in shame. One by one, their eyes turned toward the girl standing quietly beside the wheelchair.
Oliver didn’t lower her head. She didn’t look proud either.
She simply stood there.
She had never donated to be praised. She had never wanted anyone to feel indebted to her. In her mind, if you could help, you helped. That was all.
Skye walked over with trembling steps and took Oliver’s hands, tears sliding down her face.
“Sweetheart… we’ve really been blessed all these years.”
Oliver leaned forward and hugged her gently.
Applause broke out from the crowd, not forced, not polite, but spontaneous and loud.
Herbert watched the scene with soft eyes. The girl beside him shone like the sun, warm and dazzling, yet she had never tried to be seen.
Across the hall, Max finally rushed in.
He had been waiting in a private lounge, thinking Herbert hadn’t arrived yet. When he found out Mr. Herbert was already inside the banquet hall, he hurried over, sweating slightly.
“Mr. Herbert, I’m so sorry I didn’t welcome you personally. Should we find somewhere quiet to discuss our cooperation?”
He bowed respectfully.
Ivy, seeing how carefully Max spoke to this man she had just insulted, felt her stomach drop.
She slowly tried to slip away.
But Herbert’s calm voice stopped her.
“Is that your fiancée?”
Max followed his gaze. “Yes, Mr. Herbert. Why?”
“It seems your taste isn’t very good. I’m afraid we can’t work together.”
Oliver couldn’t help it. A small laugh slipped out at Herbert’s serious tone.
Max froze. One of the Luca family shareholders hurried over and whispered what had just happened into his ear.
Max’s face darkened instantly.
Without hesitation, he turned and slapped Ivy so hard she stumbled to the floor.
“Are you trying to ruin me? Have you lost your mind offending Mr. Herbert’s people?”
He then turned back quickly. “Mr. Herbert, I will break off the engagement immediately. About our cooperation…”
Ivy clung to his leg, crying desperately. “Max, please don’t do this. I’m begging you…”
But Max didn’t even look at her.
Her makeup was smeared, tears and snot mixed together. No one felt any sympathy now.
Herbert’s voice was cold.
“Miss Logan, you misunderstood something. I’m not Oliver’s sponsor.”
He tightened his hold on Oliver’s hand.
“She is my fiancée. The future lady of the Wyatt family.”
A wave of camera flashes exploded in the hall.
Oliver looked up at him, surprised but not resisting. Their eyes met quietly.
Ivy’s face drained of color.
Before anyone could react, she suddenly lunged toward Oliver.
“Oliver! You should just die!”
Herbert instantly turned his wheelchair to shield her, but Oliver reacted faster. She lifted her leg instinctively.
With the momentum of Ivy rushing forward and Oliver’s reflexive kick, Ivy was sent flying backward onto the floor.
The crowd gasped as if watching an action movie.
Herbert’s expression turned icy.
“Hold her down. Send her to the police station. I’m pressing charges for assault.”
Ivy crawled on her knees toward Max, but he stepped back.
Security dragged her away.
As she was pulled out, she heard Herbert’s gentle voice again.
“I will establish a charity foundation in Oliver’s name with an initial fund of ten million dollars.”
Her shoulders collapsed.
This time, she had truly lost everything.

At the Peterson residence, Andrew paused his scrolling when a video notification popped up.
He tapped it casually.
Then he froze.
On the screen, Herbert appeared, seated in his wheelchair, with Oliver standing beside him.
“Today, the heir of the prestigious Wyatt family appeared at an orphanage anniversary celebration and publicly announced the girl beside him as his fiancée…”
Andrew replayed the clip three times.
It was Oliver.
He burst into laughter.
“I always said Mr. Herbert had a thing for her! Who knew it was this serious?”
Tessa grabbed the tablet and watched. Samantha stood beside her, eyes wide, face pale.
Andrew was already putting on his jacket.
“Let’s go to that hot spring hotel. They probably haven’t left yet.”
He was smiling from ear to ear.
This time, he wasn’t going to miss his chance.
