Chapter 110 The Miracle Doctor's Consultation
The next morning, Quinn woke up to find the pillow next to her still empty. Carl had left for work early again.
After freshening up and grabbing breakfast, she resumed her design work. As noon approached, her phone alarm sounded, prompting her to stop. She swiftly rinsed off and hurried out the door.
Once in the car, Kelly was the first to speak, "Mrs. Ward, are we heading to see Dr. Dickson again today?"
Quinn nodded. "Yep, we're going a bit earlier today."
Kelly replied, "Alright!"
On the way, Kelly started to complain, "Dr. Dickson is a top-notch doctor, but you claim he's not into fame and fortune, yet he's set on running his own clinic. Compared to hospitals where they rely on all sorts of instruments for every check-up, even for a common cold, his way of treating patients is pretty unique."
Quinn asked, "Kelly, do you know why Dr. Dickson only sees thirty patients a day? I realized his prescriptions are affordable, usually around a hundred bucks or even less. Doesn't he want to make money?"
Quinn couldn't understand. The herbal medicine wasn't pricey, and the medicine Cedric prescribed yesterday was not only affordable but even cheaper than the market price.
Kelly answered while driving, "I've heard he personally selects, processes, and blends the herbs, keeping costs down. The prices are below market rates, yet the results are superior."
"So, it seems he only sees thirty patients a day to leave more time for gathering herbs." Quinn was puzzled. Was that really the case?
Did Cedric have the Ethereal Veinwort she wanted?
They left early today, and after a quick lunch on the road, they continued to the clinic. When they arrived, there was already a small line at the door, but luckily, only a few people.
Quinn said, "Kelly, if you have other things to do, you can go ahead. I don't know how long I'll have to wait today. I'll take a cab back when I'm done."
Kelly replied, "I'm free. How about I stand in line for you, Mrs. Ward, and you wait in the car?"
Quinn shook her head. "No, you know Dr. Dickson's temperament. If he says it doesn't follow his rules, we would have come for nothing. I'll stand in line myself. You can go ahead if you have other things to do."
Quinn insisted on queuing up personally, leaving Kelly no option but to exit the alley and feign departure.
After all, Carl had instructed her that her job, besides driving, was to ensure Quinn's safety.
She took out her phone to report to Carl, "Mr. Ward, Mrs. Ward seems to be buying some kind of herb for you. She didn't get it yesterday, so she's back at the clinic today."
Upon returning to Elegance Group, Carl, concerned about potential issues with Stella and Charles, had spent the morning at Global Horizon Enterprises. Upon reading Kelly's report, he felt a twinge of emotion.
Quinn had mentioned before that she wanted to get him some medicine to heal his scar. He touched the scar on his arm. "Okay, keep following Mrs. Ward and ensure her safety."
After replying, he walked towards the elevator.
Kelly found a spot on the second floor of a shop opposite the clinic to observe from a distance.
As Quinn joined the line, more people gradually joined behind her, forming a long queue. After about two hours, the clinic door finally opened.
Quinn saw Cedric, looking just as sharp as yesterday, still rocking a white coat over a light-colored shirt.
Noticing the lengthy queue, he fetched a stack of plastic stools, which the first person in line passed back
The initial three patients were swiftly attended to, receiving prompt diagnoses and prescriptions for minor health concerns, indicating their conditions were not severe.
Seeing the progress, Quinn thought she wouldn't have to wait as long as yesterday.
However, she noticed the woman in front of her, who looked about 30 years old and very pretty, but despite her makeup, she seemed very downcast.
She was accompanied by a woman in her fifties or sixties. From their positions and the fact that they didn't speak to each other, they didn't seem to be mother and daughter.
Soon it was their turn. Cedric didn't even look up, just said, "Give me your hand!"
The woman sat on the stool in front of the consultation table, nervously extending her hand.
The older woman spoke with concern, "Dr. Dickson, Jenny heard about your excellent medical skills and came from out of town. This girl has been weak since childhood, and after getting married, she hasn't been able to conceive."
Cedric frowned as he diagnosed her, his tone stern and even a bit cold. "As a woman, you don't know how to take care of your body? Don't you have any idea why you're weak?"
Quinn was puzzled. This woman was weak?
The older woman, anxious, was about to speak but was silenced by a glare from Cedric. "Is she deaf, mute, or doesn't understand my words? Why are you butting in?"
Quinn sighed, acknowledging Cedric's eccentricity but also recalling his patience with her the day before.
After a while, seeing Jenny Kingsley not speaking, Cedric glanced at her and continued, "You overthink, stress out, and have way too many thoughts for your age."
Jenny's face fell, and she began to cry softly. "That's it, you can leave now!" Cedric suddenly withdrew his hand, his tone mercilessly dismissive.
Quinn was puzzled. Why did he stop the consultation?
Jenny, with tears in her eyes, looked up. "I'm sorry, I was wrong, Dr. Dickson, I..."
Cedric said, "What's the use of apologizing to me? If you don't tell the truth, even God can't help you. If you don't really want treatment, why should I waste my time?"
"Dr. Dickson!" Jenny shouted, standing up abruptly, her hands on the consultation table, as if making a decision. "I'll spill it all. Married for three years, endured over ten miscarriages, and now I'm craving a child. Tried countless hospitals and meds, but zilch. Your rep brought me here, praying you can work your magic."
Cedric glanced at her, sneering. "Of course, you can't conceive. After so many miscarriages, it's a miracle you're still alive. What treatment do you expect?"
Cedric's words shocked everyone in line, but seeing Jenny's expression, it seemed Cedric's diagnosis was correct.
Quinn, equally shocked, swallowed hard. A mere diagnosis unveiled so much? Cedric's medical prowess surpassed Gregory's!
