Chapter 103 Grandpa Urges for a Great-Grandchild Again
Quinn had no clue that Kelly was more than just a driver. As her personal bodyguard, knowing the lay of the land was rule number one.
In other words, Kelly knew every nook and cranny of Sunrise City.
While driving, Kelly asked, "Mrs. Ward, what brings you here? This address looks like a clinic."
As a bodyguard, she needed to know the details to be ready for anything.
"Yeah, exactly. I read about this miracle doctor online. They say he's got a weird personality, and the clinic doesn't even have a sign. Without a referral, you'd never find it," Quinn replied.
Kelly nodded. "You must mean Cedric Dickson."
Quinn's eyes lit up. "You know him?"
Kelly smiled. "I went to see him once, so I know where the clinic is. Dr. Dickson's skills are top-notch. He diagnoses patients perfectly and his prescriptions work wonders."
"Is he really that good?" Quinn asked.
"Even better than the rumors, Mrs. Ward. Are you feeling sick?" Kelly responded.
Quinn sighed. She hadn't expected such a renowned figure she had never heard of, mostly because her master always claimed to be the best. After hearing it so often, she believed no one else could be a miracle doctor.
"No, I'm just looking for a specific herb. I've searched everywhere but couldn't find it. I heard about this place and wanted to ask the miracle doctor," Quinn explained.
Kelly looked concerned. "Dr. Dickson's skills are amazing, but he's got a peculiar personality. I've only seen him diagnose and prescribe. I don't know if he sells herbs."
Quinn had read similar things online, so she was prepared. "I know, but I really need this herb. I have to meet him. Even if he doesn't sell it, I'll try to persuade him."
They drove through main roads and small alleys. Quinn watched the navigation, and finally, they stopped at the end of an alley in front of a clinic with no sign, still closed.
Kelly said, "This is the place!"
Quinn got out and looked at the clinic, which was flanked by a small supermarket and a fruit shop, both open for business. All the other shops in the alley were open and doing business.
She asked, "What time does this miracle doctor usually come?"
Kelly shook her head. "I don't know. Maybe you should chill in the car or head back, and I'll give you a heads-up when he shows."
I'm cool. Got nothing else going on today, so I'll hang tight," Quinn responded.
They waited until noon and even had lunch at a nearby restaurant.
In the afternoon, Quinn was napping in the car when Kelly knocked on the window, waking her. She looked towards the clinic and saw a long line of people.
She got out and joined the line, eagerly looking forward. She saw a man in his fifties diagnosing and treating patients.
Even from a distance, he had an extraordinary vibe. Quinn waited patiently in line, ignoring Kelly's suggestion to cut ahead as she believed in showing respect and that the medical profession deserved it. Plus, she was just there to buy herbs, not for a consultation. So, she waited.
As time passed, she finally got a good look at Cedric's face while he was diagnosing a woman.
"You look familiar," he said.
"Dr. Dickson, I came to you for medicine during my last two pregnancies. Now I'm pregnant again and need your help," the woman replied.
Quinn was a bit shocked. This woman was here for medicine to support her third pregnancy.
She secretly admired the woman. In the current environment, either they were wealthy or had a strong bond. Having three children was rare; even having one was considered fortunate. She glanced at the woman with a hint of envy.
"You give me too much credit. It's not my doing; it's your own good health," Cedric said, making the crowd laugh.
Just then, Quinn's phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, she answered quietly, "Grandpa!"
"Quinn, how are things with you and Carl? Are you getting closer?" asked Steven.
"Everything's good! How about you? How's your health?" Quinn replied.
"I'm good, but Carl's been swamped with work. You should nudge him about taking breaks no matter how crazy it gets. Health comes first," Steven said.
"I do tell him to chill on the late nights," Quinn replied.
"Nice. But what about kids? That's top priority over work. You guys should start planning for that sooner rather than later," Steven pressed.
"Grandpa..." Quinn felt a bit guilty.
Steven continued, "Quinn, I'm not nagging you. If you have a child, Carl will focus more on the family. You know what I mean? I'm doing this for your own good, so you need to hurry up with the pregnancy."
"I understand, Grandpa," Quinn said, feeling both embarrassed and touched.
"Alright, I don't have anything else to say. Just remember what I said."
After hanging up, she opened Facebook and saw a message from Christian. While waiting in line, they chatted about various topics.
Their views, analyses, and opinions were very much in sync.
Christian praised her for being a deep thinker. Unknowingly, the line had shortened significantly. Those who left were smiling and carrying their medicine home.
When there was only one person ahead of her, she had been in line for two hours. While Cedric was diagnosing the person in front, she observed him closely.
In his fifties, his tall frame was evident even from his upper body. Despite the wrinkles on his face, it was clear he had been a handsome man in his youth.
Cedric said, "Your liver fire is strong, but your spleen, stomach, and kidneys are weak."
"Dr. Dickson, am I dying? Everything is weak. Do I have a serious illness?" The patient was frightened by the diagnosis.
Cedric calmly replied, "I handle minor stuff, not the big guns. Plus, with your vibe, serious sickness is not your style."
The patient let out a sigh, relieved, and quipped with a grin, "Dr. Dickson, do you diagnose by vibes too?"
"Personality speaks volumes. It plays into your health game. I'll prescribe some medicine for you. Take it as directed, and you'll be fine." He then got up to prepare the medicine, writing down the instructions on the package.
The patient paid, took the medicine, and left satisfied.
Seeing it was finally her turn, Quinn quickly stepped forward, ready to sit down.
But Cedric spoke first, "Miss, I'm done seeing patients for today. If you need a consultation, come back tomorrow."
Quinn said, "Dr. Dickson, I'm not..."
Before Quinn could finish speaking, there was a loud bang!
