Finding Home

Irin has spent her life wrapped in certainty—certainty of faith, of duty, of the noble blood that shaped her upbringing. As a cleric of the Temple, she believes the world is ordered, that every soul has its place, and that devotion will always be rewarded. Koth is everything she is not. A half-orc wizard who grew up on the streets of the city, he trusts in instinct over doctrine and survival over ideals. Their paths should never have crossed. By chance—or perhaps by fate—they are assigned to the same mission by the Temple, an uneasy partnership forged out of necessity rather than trust. What begins as reluctant cooperation slowly turns into something more as they are forced to rely on each other’s strengths. Irin’s faith tempers Koth’s cynicism, while his hard-won wisdom challenges the rigid beliefs she has never questioned. When the mission goes disastrously wrong, Irin and Koth find themselves in a situation they never foresaw, carrying something powerful that others are willing to kill for. With dangerous forces closing in, their only option is to run. The road ahead pulls them far from the cities they once knew, across unfamiliar lands and into constant danger. As they fight to stay alive, they must also confront the truths they’ve long avoided—about their pasts, their beliefs, and each other. Preconceived notions crack under shared hardship, and misunderstandings give way to trust. Yet with every step closer, the growing bond between them becomes another risk, one that could cost them everything. Caught between faith and freedom, loyalty and desire, Irin and Koth must decide what they are willing to sacrifice—not just to survive, but to choose their own fate.
