BLURB: Benson Crimson, the future alpha of the Black Winter Pack, is coerced into marrying Daphne Sparrow, daughter of the Walkers' Pack, after still not finding his fated mate for 5 years.
His parents believe the moon goddess had not given him a fated mate, and that marrying Daphne would put an end to the long-standing conflict between the two packs that has been ongoing for generations.
He agrees for the sake of his pack and vows not only to his bride but also to her pack and his that he will reject his fated mate if he should ever find her one day.
What will happen when he does find his fated mate after marrying Daphne? Will he keep his vow?
Chapter 1
Benson Crimson was in the midst of a battle with his army, fighting a pack of rogues who foolishly thought they could raid his pack, when he heard a messenger shouting his name.
Finish slashing the throat of his enemy with his sharp claw. He spun around to see the messenger in a full white uniform running towards him.
"I have a letter for you, General, from the Alpha and Luna," the male said out of breath as he got near him, handing it to him.
Benson's hands, covered in blood from slashing the throats of many of his enemies, stained the golden envelope as he touched it.
He immediately took out the letter from the envelope, dashing the envelope behind him.
The envelope floated before settling on the many dead bodies he'd killed.
Please come home now, my son. We have an urgent matter to talk about. He read silently.
An hour after washing himself of blood and sweat. He proudly attired himself in a new black uniform, which distinguished him from his soldiers as the general of the pack army and was adorned with gold, also indicating that he was no ordinary wolf but a royal one.
He arrived at the castle in three hours in his royal carriage. A black and silver one.
As soon as he's within the massive stone castle, he immediately marches to the throne room, where he knows his parents, Alpha Lionel and Luna Spyra, will be waiting for him.
"Father, Mother," he bowed as he stood before them.
"How many times, son, must I tell you you do not need to bow before your mother and me? You are our blood," his father said.
"I can't help it when I'm around a mighty wolf," Benson looks proudly at his father, "and the most beautiful luna," he then adds, turning to look at his mother with great adoration.
His mother blushed at his compliment and stood up from her golden throne, walking with her hands stretched towards him.
"We have good news for you, my beloved son," she said, hugging him.
"What is it about? Benson asked curiously, returning her hug.
"We've found you the perfect mate."
Benson was shocked by the news for a second and then said, pulling away from his mother's hug, "I'm not interested in taking someone as my Luna other than the one I was destined to be with by the moon goddess."
"After being eighteen and eligible to find your mate. You still haven't found her." Why won't you give up seeing that you never will?" His father came out of his throne, moving closer to him as well.
"If I have to wait 5 more years to find her. I shall do so," says Benson, determined to be with his fated mate only.
"And stop our family name from spreading?" The alpha asked.
The alpha standing before him placed both of his hands on his shoulder and said, "You are our only child. This pack and I are depending on you to create more heirs for this throne, so our family name can live on forever."
Benson stood silently, contemplating.
He wanted his fated mate to be his Luna, yes, but he didn't want his family name to end with him not producing an heir.
"Remember, I never found my fated mate. I was paired with your mom after not doing so, and there's not a day that I don't think that she was the one I was destined to be with," the alpha said, holding the Luna's hand.
"Just marry the she-wolf we have for you, for you will never find your fated mate," said his mother.
As much as Benson wants to disagree with his parents, many times. He believes that he will never be lucky enough to find his fated mate and may have to marry someone like his dad, who isn't his fated mate.
'Who is the she-wolf that you want me to marry?" Benson asked uninterestedly.
"Daughter of the Walker's Pack. She, too, hasn't found her fated mate and has heard about all the great things you've done. She's only interested in taking you as her mate rather than marrying someone else."
"You want me to marry the daughter of our pack enemies of many years?" Benson asked, confused.
"This will stop the war that has been going on for many years once you two are bonded," said the alpha excitedly.
"Think about our people," added the Luna.
"They wish the non-stop war and hatred between the pack to end, and you can do so, which will relinquish any doubt of you not being a great alpha one day as your father," said the Luna.
"I accept her if our joining will bring our pack peace and the end of a generational conflict," said Benson, but within his heart, he felt he may never love her as his mate.
"Great," said the luna.
"I'll have the messenger sent to the walkers' pack alpha, immediately that you're interested in marrying their daughter."
The alpha, seeing the sad look upon his son's face as his Luna went away happily, says, "Don't worry, son, I felt the same way when I was told the same by your grandparents that I would be marrying your mother. I thought I may never love her, because she wasn't my fated mate, and look how happy I am now with your mother."
"She gave me the greatest gift. I doubt my fated mate could ever give me and that is you, my son." The alpha wrapped a hand around his shoulder.
Benson gives a tense smile and hopes the one he's going to marry is as kind-hearted and as loving as his mom. Surely he could learn to love her then.
