Chapter 40
Chapter 40
"Were fated mates?" Isabella stared at him in disbelief as she remained at the entrance of the living room.
Beta Tyde stared back at her, never wanting her to know they were destined by the moon goddess to be together, that is, until she was the right age and discovered under the full moon that they were destined to be together.
"But how is it possible when you won't find your fated until the next three months, and she's not even of the right age to have a fated mate?" His mother asked, causing his attention to turn from his pretty little mate.
"I've gone to the sage for an answer. He said it's not the first time it has happened and that there's a reason why the moon goddess may have allowed me to find her first and so quickly, and that it's to protect her."
As Beta Tyde completed explaining to his mother, his stare returned to his fated mate, only to see her walking out the front door.
Knowing it was not safe for her to ever be alone, he immediately chased after her.
"Isabella," Beta Tyde called, catching up to her.
He stopped her by holding one of her hands from behind.
Unable to let go of her hand that was as soft as velvet and as frail as a rose, he stared at her pretty little hand within his.
Suddenly, it was quickly pulled from his hand, and he looked up at his fated mate with now angry eyes staring at him.
"How long have you known we were fated, mate?" she asked, upset.
Beta Tyde thought she would be happy they were fated mates after finding out she wanted him just as bad as he wanted her. He was confused.
"Since the day you came into my class with the principal."
Isabella immediately remembered it was the day her request to be transferred to his class was accepted. She also now knew the reason why he didn't return to class and why she barely saw him at school, like she used to.
She broke down in tears.
Beta Tyde tries comforting her, but she draws a step back, not wanting him to touch her. She now believes the reason he has been keeping his distance from her and is only interested in saving her. He plans to reject her when she's 18, for he wasn't okay with her being his mate.
If he truly wanted to be with her, he wouldn't be able to resist touching her, as the bond of being mates would compel him to mark her.
How can a fated mate stand so still when he's around his other half without needing to touch her? she thinks angrily.
"Why does the moon goddess give me parents that don't love me or want me and now a mate that is just the same?" She wept even more.
Isabella plans to run across the road in hopes of being hit by a car, as she no longer sees the point of living, especially since her fated mate does not want her any more than her parents do. She knew her parents were not always away on business; they were now on vacation without her. Her parents were so in love with each other that there wasn't any room for her.
As she's about to turn around to run across the road, the Beta holds her by the waist and draws her so close to him that their bodies touch.
His other hand held her face, tilting it to look up at him.
His body was as warm as standing next to the fireplace.
"Don't ever think that I don't love you or want you," Beta Tyde said, staring into her eyes.
"You have no idea how torturous for me every second not to imprint you as mine," he said, bringing his head to hers so that their lips almost touched.
Isabella's lips parted eager for his kiss at how close they were now and knowing he was okay with her being his fated mate.
She could feel the hot air rushing from his nose and how fast he was breathing, wanting to claim her now. She, too, wants him to claim her now.
"Mark me as yours now." She moved her lips to him, needing him to kiss her.
But to her surprise, he immediately pulled back.
