Chapter 112 - Trinity POV

Chapter 112 - Trinity POV

Damn that witch.
Whatever she hit me with is strong. Too strong. My head feels stuffed with fog and fire all at once—like her spell is still coiled inside my skull, refusing to let go.
I hate her.
She’s been controlling the narrative from the beginning—deciding what I see, what I know, what I’m allowed to understand—and there’s not a single damn thing I can do about it.
Not while I’m lying here unconscious like some fragile little puppet she can drag around.
No more.
I force myself to breathe. To focus.
If she thinks putting me under means she can slip away without explaining herself, she really doesn’t know who she’s dealing with.
I can still dream walk.
I can still find her.
Okay. Focus, Trinity. Let’s find her.
Zuri… I need your help.
…
Zuri?
Her answer is weak, faint as a fading echo.
I’m sorry, Triny girl… I can’t right now. The void took too much. I need time.
My stomach twists.
We were separated in the void.
I know she went through something—something she hasn’t spoken about—but hearing her like this… broken… scares me more than the darkness of the void.
Looks like I’m on my own.
I reach inward, searching for Ms. Kline’s signature.
Nothing.
Just a wall—a deliberate block to keep me out.
Fine. If I can’t get to her… I’ll try Mom.
I close my eyes, letting the world slide away. I reach for my mother’s scent, her aura, her heartbeat. There—deep in the tunnels, in the cabin.
I push harder—slipping between thoughts, drifting—
And suddenly I’m there.
She’s standing with a young woman I’ve never seen before. A girl close to my age, maybe a little older. Her skin is the warmest, richest brown I’ve ever seen, undertones glowing like sunlit embers.  And those eyes… the lightest shade of hazel I have ever seen.
Eyes that are staring straight at me.
She whispers something to my mother.
Mom sighs.
“Not yet, Trinity,” she says gently.
Then—
A flick of the young woman’s wrists.
A push of magic.
And I’m thrown back into my own body like a ragdoll.
“DAMMIT!”
I sit there in my own mind, shaking. Ms. Kline is gone. My mother is blocking me. The girl with her—whoever she is—saw me instantly, she without a doubt is a witch.
Okay. Don’t panic. Think.
Ms. Kline wouldn’t vanish unless she was doing something dangerous. Something reckless. Something final.
And I need to get to her before she—
Focus.
Someone else.
Who else would know where she is?
Ty. The only person that is coming to mind.
Before I can second-guess it, I pull myself into the dream stream again and push toward him.
The moment his mind opens, he jerks.
“Sup, Wolfie. Not gonna lie—this is weird.”
“I was trying to get to Raubtier,” I say quickly. “I need to find Ms. Kline. I’m afraid she’s about to do something reckless.”
“You don’t need to fear,” he says, eyes hardening. “I can confirm it. She and my father… they’ve gone on a suicide mission.”
He closes his eyes—his pain swelling so heavy it warps the air around him.
Then his eyes snap open, and something inside him cracks.
“You know…” he snarls, “I should’ve killed you when I had the chance. And I had so many chances.”
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me, Wolfie. If I’d killed you, my father wouldn’t be out there getting himself killed for you.”
“I didn’t tell anyone to do anything for me! I’m trying to stop them! You act like I asked for this shit!”
“Ahh, the poor queen,” he mocks, voice dripping venom. “Woe is me. I have a destiny I don’t want.” He pauses for a moment. “Grow. The fuck. Up. You’ve got an entire supernatural world ready to kneel at your feet, and you’re still boo-hooing about it?”
He bares his teeth, but I cut him off:
“You’re grieving someone who isn’t confirmed dead yet. So I’m giving you ONE pass. Now pull yourself together and tell me what you know so I can stop them from throwing their lives away—NOT for me, but because THEY DESERVE THEIR OWN DAMN CHOICE.”
Ty’s face twists—but then something in him breaks.
“You’re too late for my father,” he whispers. “But you might still reach your witch.”
And with that, he shoves me out of his mind.
I gasp, spinning in the void between consciousness and dream.
Raubtier… gone?
No.
No.
There’s no way—Not possible.
I push harder, searching for either of them, anyone, anything—
And then…
I see it.
A thread of magic.
Thin.
Shimmering.
Pulling me forward.
Kline.
I follow it.
The world materializes around me—
Stephen is on his knees—bleeding, laughing, broken.
Kline hurt him. She actually hurt him.
But she’s not running.
She’s not defending herself.
She’s holding something—binding him with her own power. Tying herself to his wound.
The air behind her darkens.
The witch steps forward, her aura swallowing the light like a living void.
“MS. KLINE, RUN!” I scream.
She doesn’t move.
She just turns her face toward me—toward where she knows I’m watching.
Her expression…
Not fear.
Not regret.
Something else.
Something like peace.
No.
NO.
“Take care of your mother for me,” she whispers into the dream-walk, her voice trembling but steady. “And remember…
you are stronger than Zuri,
stronger than Malik,
stronger than me.
You carry a future none of us could hold.”
“PLEASE—DON’T LEAVE! WE STILL NEED YOU!”
My tears spill so fast I choke on them. The pressure in my chest builds until it feels like my ribs are splintering from the inside. My breath won’t come. My heart hurts. Everything hurts.
Why did she do this?
She didn’t have to!
WHY?!
But Kline only smiles—so soft and sad it shatters me.
“Do not let this memory poison your destiny,” she says. “Do not carry my mistakes into your future. Build the world… we couldn’t.”
Then the light hits her.
And she disappears.
I scream—soundless in the dream—my soul tearing apart as I’m yanked backward through the stream.
The last thing I see is the carnage on the ground—Raubtier’s body surrounded by dozens of fallen warriors.
He took down so many before they finally reached him.
His blood stains the earth.
Ms. Kline’s magic stains the sky.
And then—
Darkness.
I jolt awake with a gasp.
my entire body drenched in sweat, heart pounding like it’s trying to claw out of my chest.
Tears still rolling down my cheek.
I’m not in the void.
Not in the tunnels.
Not in the dream.
Before I can register where I am his scent wraps around me a moment before his arms do.
