Chapter 111 - Ms. Kline POV
Chapter 111 - Ms. Kline POV
Stephen’s smile is the same as the day he first destroyed me.
Smug.
Arrogant.
A man who believes the world bends for him simply because he wills it.
But this time… this time my hands don’t shake.
My heart doesn’t race.
My knees don’t weaken.
This time, I came here to end a cycle.
“Elizabeth,” he says, taking a slow step toward me as if he’s greeting an old lover. “You look… aged.”
My jaw locks.
“Hello, Stephen.”
He circles me, a predator analyzing his prey. “No tears this time? No trembling? No pathetic begging?”
“I outgrew fear of you a long time ago. I am not the same woman you once knew.”
“Aren’t you?”
His eyes gleam with poison. “Because I remember a witch who cried when I raised my voice. Who begged me to love her. Not to leave her. Who swore I was her destiny.”
My throat burns—rage, betrayal, humiliation all clawing their way up.
But I don’t look away.
“That girl died,” I say.
“Hm.” He smiles coldly. “I killed her, didn’t I?”
A crack breaks inside me.
My magic surges — hot, furious, golden.
“You didn’t kill her,” I snap, voice shaking with fury. “YOU BROKE HER. You used her. Manipulated her. Twisted her. And when she no longer fed your ego—YOU THREW HER AWAY.”
Stephen chuckles, slow and condescending. “You sound angry, Lizzie. Still holding onto the past. It was more than 20 years ago and your still holding on.”
“ANGRY?”
My magic erupts outward, shaking the ground beneath us.
“You took everything from me! My purpose. My peace. My innocence. MY LIFE. You never once cared about me. Not even for a minute. I was always a pawn in your game?!”
His smirk falters for the first time.
Good.
I step closer until our faces are inches apart. “You’re not a god. You’re not a king. You’re not even a man. You’re a coward who hides behind power he never earned. Stolen like a thief in the night because you were too weak to get it on your own.”
The air cracks around us.
His aura flares back—violent, burning, hungry. “You should have stayed away.”
“I tried,” I breathe. “But your destruction is not done. And I will not let you get near Trinity. Not again.”
Stephen tilts his head, amused. “Trinity… that little vessel girl. You think I’m afraid of her?”
“No,” I whisper. “But you should be afraid of me.”
Before he can react, I pull the vial from my sleeve.
His expression breaks—fear sparks behind his eyes.
“Elizabeth—”
I slam the vial into his chest.
Golden liquid bursts across him, smoldering into his skin like acid. His scream rips the air apart. The magic clings to him, seeping into every pore, dragging on his power like a sinkhole.
He drops to his knees, gasping, choking.
“WHAT—WHAT DID YOU DO?!”
My tears spill now—not from weakness, but from decades of pain finally released.
“You made me a weapon,” I say through shaking breaths. “And I finally figured out how to use it.”
He tries to stand. He can’t.
“You… can’t kill me,” he wheezes.
“No,” I whisper. “But I can make you feel what helplessness really is.”
A crack of magic explodes behind us.
I stiffen.
Stephen laughs—weak, but triumphant. “Oh, Lizzie… did you really think I came alone?”
A figure emerges from the shadows.
Bare feet.
Wild hair.
Eyes burning with witch-fire.
Essence dripping with power that feels ancient and rotten.
Alana.
His witch.
His secret weapon.
The one who replaced me.
Her lips curl. “Hello, Elizabeth.”
Pain stabs my chest—but not from her appearance.
From the memory of realizing he only needed me until he found someone stronger.
Stephen smirks weakly from the ground. “I always upgrade.”
My heart breaks again—silent, final.
Alana lifts her hand.
I don’t run.
There’s no point.
And I still have one last purpose.
Before the spell hits, a sudden pull tugs at my consciousness.
A presence.
A familiar warmth.
Trinity.
Her spirit flickers beside me, translucent, eyes wide with horror.
She dream-walked into this moment.
She sees everything.
Good.
“Ms. Kline—NO—” she cries, reaching for me.
My heart clenches.
“Trinity,” I breathe, tears spilling freely. “Listen to me. You must listen.”
She shakes her head violently. “Don’t—don’t do this—PLEASE! I can help—”
“You can’t.”
My voice breaks. “But you can win. You and Irune… you were chosen for a reason.”
Alana steps closer, gathering power.
Trinity screams. “MS. KLINE! RUN!”
“Take care of your mother for me,” I whisper, ignoring the fear clawing at my throat. “and remember you are stronger than Zuri. Stronger than Malik. Stronger than me. You carry a future none of us could hold.”
“PLEASE—DON’T LEAVE WE STILL NEED YOU!”
My tears begin fall like rain. I am not sure why. Maybe because I will not be around to see the conclusion of this battle that I spent so long preparing for, maybe because I was leaving my best friend behind, or maybe it was for the younger version of myself that was so in love that she destroyed another man in hopes that the man she loved would accept and acknowledge her. Like Raubtier I realize I too am tired.
“Do not let this memory poison your destiny,” I choke out. “Do not carry my mistakes into your future. Build the world we couldn’t.”
Alana’s magic flares white-hot.
I turn to Trinity one last time.
“My Queen, It has been my pleasure to watch you grow.”
The light hits.
Pain explodes through my body.
And the world goes silent.
