They didn't even check for our tickets which I didn't I even have. The plane wasn't that big with a capacity of about twenty passengers. I'd never been on a plane before but it basically looked like a bus only it had a washroom at the back and flew instead.
"Nala!"Brian exclaimed getting off his seat to hug me.
"Monkey."I replied hugging him back.
"Why didn't you tell me about today?"I asked him when we pulled apart.
"And ruin the surprise? Never."He grinned at me before sitting back down next to Evelyn.
I went around the plane saying hello to everyone and getting scolded by the guys for refusing to forget their nicknames.
"We're sitting here."Hunter informed me showing me our seats.
Our suitcase was out of sight so I assumed he'd already packed it away. I got the window seat since I didn't want to miss anything.
"First time flying?"Hunter whispered to me.
"Is it that obvious?"I asked him.
"No it's not but you'll be okay baby. I'm right here."Hunter consoled kissing my forehead.
The door was closed a few minutes later and only then did I realize that our group of ten were the only passengers on the plane.
"So which one of you owns this?"I asked Hunter understanding the drill of how they worked.
"Owen."He replied.
Yeah I really needed to work hard to catch up with them considering they could actually afford a commercial plane.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking...." A loud voice announced.
I looked up to see the pilot addressing us looking good in his uniform. He welcomed us into the flight and talked for a few minutes before leaving the rest to our flight attendant. She spent the next ten minutes going through the flights safety procedures. Hunter helped me out where I struggled and instead of feeling intimidated I accepted the help because there was no shame in not knowing.
"Have a lovely flight and enjoy the sights."She summarized after she was done.
"Can I have my phone? I want to take videos."I requested Hunter.
He nodded and handed it to me. I took lots of pictures and videos to show Sonie and send to my mom. It didn't take long for us to take off and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Once we were completely airborne the pilot gave the okay to remove our seat belts and move freely around the plane.
"How is everyone here all at once?"I asked Hunter.
"We take this trip annually so we always make sure to be free from work during this time of the year."He explained.
"I like that tradition, thank you for making me a part of it."I thanked Hunter.
"You're welcome anytime."He said smiling at me.
I was about to ask him something else when we were interrupted by Yvonne.
"So Nala, tell us, how was the date last night? I hear you caused quite the traffic jam."She teased.
"It was awesome, a bit extreme but I loved it."I replied.
"You had better after the scolding I got from my dad."Brian scoffed.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get you in trouble."I apologized.
"You didn't get him in any trouble, he caused it all by himself."Max scolded.
"How?"I asked.
"He picked me up and we did something we shouldn't have done in the presidential limousine."Evelyn laughed.
"Yeah you two are disgusting."June cringed.
"Yeah we know that's why we are so perfect together."Brian declared.
I didn't want to let myself imagine what they did exactly but anyone who knew Brian well could guess. It was disrespectful but also kind of endearing as it meant Brian had finally met someone who could match his crazy energy.
"Your first date was magical, compared to mine."Louise commented with a sad sigh.
"What are you talking about? I rented out the whole KICC rooftop for you."Francis asked.
"Yeah but you could have done better."Louise teased.
I knew she was just messing with him because the look in her eyes showed that she'd loved that night.
Everyone talked about their first date experience with current partners before we got to worst date experience with exes. My ex never took me on any dates so I didn't have any stories for them but it was fun hearing theirs.
The one hour and ten minute flight flew by, pun intended and soon we were landing in Mombasa. The air was hot but breezy with the promise of a good time that I honestly couldn't wait to experience with my boyfriend and our friends.
"Whoa Francis, did you upgrade?"Max exclaimed as we all stared at the luxury van parked infront of us.
"I had to, last time we were here it was only seven of us but now we're ten so bigger van."Francis replied.
I was too stunned to say anything so I just let Hunter handle our bags before I got into the van after him. It was black outside with a sunroof but inside is where all the magic was. It was a twelve seater with black rotatable seats, a huge flat screen TV a mini bar and it's own bathroom.
"If I marry you now and you die, will I inherit all that is yours?"I whispered to Hunter with a cheeky smile as we put on our seatbelts.
"All I heard from that was marry, are you proposing baby girl?"Hunter teased back.
"Sure if you think you can handle me as a wife."I grinned at him.
"Baby girl I can handle you in all ways, you're the one who can't handle me as a husband."Hunter smirked kissing my forehead.
My question had been to tease him but I couldn't get the thought of marrying Hunter out of my head. Getting married to him wouldn't be a problem but I wasn't ready to be a wife and he knew that. I had to learn how to be a good girlfriend first before we upgraded my status.
"Whose hungry because I am? I hate that they can't serve food on the flight even if we own it."June lamented.
"I'm hungry."A few of us chorused.
"It's a three hour drive to the Villa, still don't get why you boys couldn't gotten one closer so let's get some take out please."Louise requested.
Everyone agreed to her request so Francis asked the chauffeur to pass by the closest drive through so we could get some food.
"Happy now?"Hunter asked me when he saw me enjoying my food.
"Extremely."I muttered my mouth filled with delicious chicken and rice.
He was having a chicken salad which looked good too and I couldn't resist stealing a few bites.
Only after I was full did Louise words register in my mind. The guys owned a Villa and it was three hours away. It was definitely going to be a long ride but I was full now so I didn't care much. I wasn't sleepy though so for most of the journey I chatted with the girls and nagged Hunter for the rest.
"Ever since we started travelling everyone owns one thing or the other, what do you own?"I asked Hunter as I drew a flower on his palm with a pen.
"You."He replied confidently.
I turned to glare at him but that didn't make his smile falter.
"I am yours yes but I'm not a property you can own."I retorted.
"All I heard was yours."He grinned so I pressed the pen a little to hard on his hand.
He cried out in pain but didn't pull his hand away.
"I was joking baby girl, the Villa we're going to be staying at is mine. It's one of the many properties I own around the country."Hunter apologized.
"How many properties do you have exactly?"I asked realizing I didn't even know the extent of Hunter's wealth.
"Plenty."He answered vaguely.
I'd realized that Hunter didn't like talking about how rich he was especially with me because he knew it made me feel inferior. I was getting better at accepting his wealth but I still had a long way to go.
"Plenty it is, now stop twitching. I have to complete this."I demanded softly.
"Yes ma'am."Hunter replied.
Five minutes later I let him see my handiwork. It wasn't the best but it wasn't terrible either. It was a simple flower with my our first name initials in the middle.
"I've been thinking of getting a tattoo, this isn't so bad for a design."Hunter declared looking at my drawing.
"You're not getting that tattooed, it's terrible and unprofessional."I pointed out.
"I'll think of something better."Hunter replied.
"Don't get tattooed please, I like your body as it is."I pleaded with him.
"Okay no tattoos."Hunter assured me.
I didn't have anything against tattoos but Hunter's body was a work of art just the way it was and I didn't want it marred by ink. I didn't have any tattoos either and wasn't intending on getting any mostly due to the fact that I was afraid of needles so the body ink idea was a no for me too. My fear of needles is why I didn't have my ears pierced either, I just couldn't bring myself to go through it.
"We're here. Fucking finally."Yvonne announced.
I looked out the window to see us driving on an immaculate driveway lined with palm trees and a few coconut trees. I could hear the ocean beating against rocks in the distance meaning the villa was by the beach.
"Yes I am definitely marrying you for your money."I teased Hunter when I finally saw the Villa.
"Joke now, you won't be when we say I do."Hunter replied.
The Villa was a two storey white modern design with lots of windows. It looked more like a hotel than a privately owned house. We all filed out of the car, grateful to be able to stretch out limbs.
