Chapter 25

Damon took over shifting to his form and stood watching the declining back of the woman. What just happened? He was wondering. Zeus had encountered someone he didn't have the intent to kill and even shocking still, he had let her touch him.

It was that same woman who had had the guts to order him about and even touch him severally. Her touch was doing things to him, the close proximity and her scent was driving him crazy. While his wolf, Zeus was running round inside his head excited by her touch and closeness

He had stood abruptly almost shoving her to the floor in the process and walked briskly away needing to be far away from her.

Something was tied to his arm, glancing down, he discovered a piece of her dress. He touched the silk material on his arm, the image of her struggling with his sword came to mind. Shoving away the woman with the mesmerizing scent and touch to the back of his mind, he made his way to the training grounds where the knights were.

Her scent was clung to the piece of fabric. He held it in his hand using a different rag instead to wrap the wound.

There he sat for some moments.

What exactly is wrong with that woman?! He wondered. Was she daft? She had acted so fearless. She must definitely be dumb, he concluded. Considering how slowly she had reacted last night even with the hounds approaching and attacking her, she had reacted in a slow manner. She had to be a dumb witted person. That had to be it. But she was beautiful, with wide doe Hazel coloured eyes.

"Sire. Report of two Berserked werewolves." Devin called interrupting his thoughts that has wandered of to the woman again.

"Take care of it." He ordered walking away. He was in no mood to fence or practice, his thoughts kept drifting back to the woman, so he headed to the outer Garden. The place where he had always been.

When he was younger, be would spend hours there. Whenever something went wrong or things happened and he would be accused of doing it he would run and hide there. The glances and whispers got worse, it was as he got older he realized there was a being inside of him. Whenever he felt overwhelmed and suffocated with the palace, he would go there. It then became his spot, no one ventured there any longer. The beast resided there.

There he let Zeus take control in shifting to the magnificent wolf. Zeus charged immediately breaking into a run. Damon could feel it, the powerful paws hitting the ground, the wind rushing through the his fur. He was connected to Zeus and could feel every sensation the wolf could.

The tranquility of the moment was interrupted. Zeus stood immediately, he could sense someone. Someone had Intruded. He stalked off slowly watching the excited young woman from a distance like a prey, she was oblivious of the watchful gaze on her. Zeus sat quietly observing.

Suddenly the silence was interrupted with the pounding of hooves heading to where she was. Zeus stood watching the scene unfold.

She was surrounded about to be attacked by those woles. Zeus swung into action leaping out and ramming into them head on in mid air. He attacked immediately killing off the two wolves.

Zeus then stalked slowly to where she stood cornered

The woman frightened stumbled backwards as he made his way closer to where she stood. Zeus stood staring at her, to Damon's surprise he wasn't attacking. Normally he was impatient and practically a monster, but instead he stood calmly, then mustering courage, she slowly approached him. When she touched him, he reacted. Her touch felt soothing and calming. Zeus was acting like a pet instead of the instrument of destruction that he was all because of this woman.

Devin led Jasmine away still stunned with the sight that just unfolded in front of him. How had this woman touched Zeus that casually, he had even acted like a loyal pet. He glanced at Jasmine seating calmly on top of the horse.

It could only mean one thing, they were mated.

How was that possible? Zeus was said to be mateless. Although the blood royal wolf that descended through the royal family was different, but the wolves were mateless. Somehow, Zeus had happened to find his.

The woman atop the horse however seemed to be oblivious.

"What was that?" She asked.

"That creature."

"A wolf." Devin answered.

"They are several here, it's what makes us up." He explained briefly.

She was human and from her reaction, she still hadn't been told about this part of their world.

"You shouldn't have been here in the first place." He spoke his voice stern. It wasn't that nobody was allowed there,but no one ever went there. It was known to be where Zeus roamed, so one in their right mind dared to. And besides, she had gone through the hidden tunnel through the abandoned garden.

"I found it accidentally" she admitted.

"No body should know you went there." He warned her softly.

"Or what you encountered." He warned further.

Jasmine was silent, she only nodded. Something had told her she wasn't supposed to be there in the first place, and it was clear she had met with the Kingdoms animal.

"I understand." She admitted.

"So you'll keep a secret?" She asked just as they arrived. He gave a grunt.

"If anyone asks you slept off in the garden, the one which led you to that field."

He noticed the ripped part of her dress. The same material he found Damon holding, lost in thoughts earlier today.

Supposing Damon had found his mate, it could be a good thing. But it wasn't his place to announce. And when it came to loyalty to the royal family, he's was questionable, his loyalty went first to Damon; his leader and prince, then the King.

More so, this was supposed to be an arranged marriage everyone expected to fail. They all thought she would end up like those other brides, it being revealed that she was Damon's mate could put her in potential danger. It would be best to keep the truth hidden for now

"Thank you" she thanked gracefully then made her way.

"Oh my lady!" Anna exclaimed.

"Where have you been?!"

"We were so worried." Martha added.

"I was taking a stroll then I fell asleep." She said lightly.

Satisfied with her answer, he headed inside the palace.

The king had heard of her missing as well.
