Chapter 88 - Fated to the cursed Alpha

Kane

I shifted back to my human self as I ran through the door back into the kitchen. Ryder was lifting Em from Rose who was hysterically crying. Kala knelt by her side trying to console her.

“Give her to me,” I asked as I held out my arms taking her from Ryder.

She was pale, it was hard to tell through the blood and bruising that was already setting in but I could tell her usual reddened cheeks were long gone. She had blood over her body, I knew it was hers but I was unsure of where and how many times she had been shot.

“Em, baby. Wake up, please, Em” I held her close to me, she was already turning cold, she hated the cold. The smell of burning flesh was coming from her wounds “We have to get the bullets out, they're silver” I spoke, I wasn't sure who to, as I just felt like I was in a daze. My wolf was silent, he was usually pushing to come out, be by her side. He just felt numb, as did I.

“Where is she?” Adele shouted as she ran through the kitchen door.

“Thank heavens she got in, the barrier must have gone when Kane killed him” Blair sighed. As Ryder hugged her from behind.

“Doc” I shouted. Rushing her to me.

“good Lord” She stilled as her eyes landed on Em, covering her mouth, she was in shock. “I'm sorry, I didn't realise the extent of her injuries,” she said as she cleared her throat, bringing herself back into the room.

“She's bleeding, she's not waking up!” I choked, not knowing what to do.

“Is downstairs still set up?” Adele asked.

“Yes,” Blair said telling her to go down, she started pushing my back making me walk behind Adele. I followed her down the stairs where I had just been a moment before. She noticed the headless body at the bottom of the steps but never faltered, she stepped over it and ran for the room ahead. I followed laying Em on the bed.

I brushed the hair out of her face, something I always did to her. Kissing her forehead, Kala held onto me, wrapping her arms around my torso, pulling me back a couple of feet. “Let Adele work on her. She whispered calmly.

“She's going to be ok,” I told her. I wasn't sure if I even believed it myself but saying it out loud made me believe it just a little bit.

Blair helped by cutting the clothes away from Em's body, I watched as her bump became visible as Blair pulled the clothes away from beneath her. “The baby?” I asked them panicked I stepped forward but Kala pulled me back.

Blair

I knew Adele needed to get to Em's wounds quick, I began cutting away her clothes. Kane's presence was strong behind me, I could feel his worry, his fear of losing his mate.

“The baby?” I heard Kane, I could see one bullet wound on the top of her bump, another two in her shoulder one in her arm and one which I think grazed her neck. I looked up at Adele, I knew this wasn't good. Neither of us answered Kane just yet as we weren't sure if the baby would have been affected by the injuries, I tried listening for a heartbeat but there were too many of us here, Em's was extremely weak, it was the only one I could focus on.

“I need to stabilize these wounds Alpha and then we need to transport her to the hospital, we don't have the right equipment here to deliver the baby. Especially if he is too early he may need some help breathing.” Kane just stared down at her body, his eyes scanned from one wound to another.

“Ryder, get my phone, the front pocket of my bag” she nodded her head towards the large black bag on the floor.

She slipped on her gloves, “I'm going to need you to pour this powder into the wound as soon as I pull out the bullets” Adele passed me a pot of powder. I nodded agreeing to the task.

“Dial my office, tell them to send an ambulance here now!” She shouted back.

“I can drive” Kane offered, his voice was void of all emotion, the last of his humanity was hanging on by a thread. I fear if we lose anyone right now it will be the last of Kane.

I looked behind me to see Ryder running up the stairs, we never got a very good signal down here. “Ok, you ready!” She asked me as she inserted her forceps into the hole.

Seconds later she pulled out a bullet dropping it in a metal tray beside her. Immediately I emptied some powder in its place. “Is this enough?” I asked, wanting to make sure I was doing it right.

“Perfect, it's just to stop her bleeding out, I need to get her to the hospital to stop the silver infection,” Adele said as she pulled another bullet.

We got them all apart from the one that was in the top of her bump. “I can't find it!” She panicked, throwing the forceps down she pushed her fingers inside trying to feel around for it. “Shit!” She gasped looking at me, her eyes wide.

“What is it? Is she going to be ok?” Kane asked her stepping forward again.

Adele scrunched her eyes together as she pushed further down onto the wound. Her fingers that deep inside her belly she had to of been touching the baby surely. “I don't know Alpha” She exhaled as she removed her fingers. The sound of the Ambulance pulling up outside broke the silence.

“What do you mean you don't know, is she going to survive this, yes or no, it's not a hard question” Kane shouted as he was beginning to become irate.

“If I can get the silver out at the hospital then there Is a chance, but we have to move now” Adele answered his question.

“And the baby?” He asked, I looked at the tears that were pooling around in the bottom of his eyes.

“I-I can't... I don't know. The last bullet has entered the amniotic sack, We need to get them to the hospital and deliver the baby straight away before it falls victim to Silver poisoning. But we have to act quick, time is of the essence, The quicker we move the higher their chances are of surviving.

I had never seen my brother cry, maybe once when he was younger and his mother died. But he never showed his emotion to any of us since that day. A single tear fell down his cheek as he continued to look at Em's body. Kala ran back over to Kane as he cleared his throat, coming back to reality.

Kala handed him some shorts as she threw a blanket over Em. “Let's get going, then” Kane ordered as he scooped Em's body up from the bed, making sure the blanket covered her as he ran up the stairs.

Kane

I sat in the waiting room at the hospital, I knew if I was in the room with them and something went wrong I would not be able to control myself. I sat with both of my sisters on either side of me, I knew they were doing that to keep a check on me.

My mind kept going back to the moment I walked out of the house with her in my arms. All the pack were gathered out the front, as soon as they saw their Luna in my arms they all got down on one knee bowing their heads. They all respected her, loved her dearly, as did I.

Adele tried strapping Em up to a heart monitor when I laid her on the trolley. “42 beats a minute,” I told her, she was confused at first but I had kept check of her heart rate the moment I took her from Rose.

She looked at me and nodded, “If it drops, let me know” She smiled, She continued to do different checks on her up until it came time to get out of the ambulance. Blair and Kala both travelled behind us in a separate vehicle. The guys and Rose remained behind at the house to clear up and look after the pack.

She was rushed straight into theatre, she had been in there for just over an hour. I was becoming more and more impatient. My wolf had finally come to life and began pacing in the back of my mind, he seemed to be picking up on something I wasn't maybe.

A thud from the door ahead got all our attention. Adele walked through smiling, holding something wrapped in a small blue blanket. “Would you like to meet your son Alpha” She smiled as she handed him to me. Both my sisters were a blubbering mess on either side of me before I even had my son in my arms.

I looked down at the small bundle in front of me. He was quiet as he began looking around with his bright blue eyes. His mop of Black hair was poking through the blanket that was wrapped around him. I couldn't help but notice his perfectly shaped button nose, that was from Em for sure. Heck, he was just perfect “How are they both doing?” I asked not taking my eyes off my son.

“This little one was absolutely fine, no complications. I would have brought him out sooner but I wanted him under observation for a while to check his vitals.” She rubbed the top of his head gently.

“And Embry?” I asked, noticing she hadn't said anything about her.

She exhaled loudly “She is in a bad way Alpha, I've done everything possible. The next 48 hours are critical, I've kept her sedated to give her body the chance to fight off the silver. The only thing we can pray for is for her wolf to wake inside of her to kick start her healing” Adele took my hand, it was a bold move, but I trusted her. “Keep strong for the sake of your son, I will do everything in my power to help Luna” She smiled sweetly.

"Thankyou" I answered her in barely a whisper.

“You want to come and introduce your boy to his mummy, it may help if she senses him nearby” I nodded as I stood, keeping the tiny bundle tucked away in my arms.

“Let's go see mummy” I kissed his forehead.
