Chapter 84 - Fated to the cursed Alpha

Embry

I was too early for my liking. I moaned to myself as I looked at the digital clock on the screen in Kane's jeep. It was 9.15 Am. Today was the day Kane had promised to take me out shopping to get everything we needed for our little boy. Well, he actually promised me weeks ago, but everytime we set a date to go shopping something always came up. Things didn't get off to a great start when Kane had to help me up into the Jeep, so much for my super wolf strength.

“Ready!” Kane asked as he got in his seat next to mine. I could tell he was excited about finally going and getting the things we needed for our little man. I, on the other hand, felt like I could have slept for another couple of hours.

“Yeah sure,” I smiled back at him, pretending I was OK. I didn't want him to know how tired I was getting. It wasn't like I didn't sleep much last night, because I did, I slept like a log. I knew Adele warned me of becoming tired as the baby grew, but I didn't think I would struggle just yet, but as each day passed it was becoming harder.

We made it to the shopping centre. When he asked me where I wanted to go, I opted for here in the hope I could get everything I needed all in one go without walking too far.

Kane opened my door for me and helped me out. The moment I stretched my body to slide out of the jeep, I felt a sharp kick from the baby in my ribs. I gasped as the sudden pain took my breath away, stumbling the rest of the way to the floor, Kane was quick to reach out and grab me, holding me in the air.

“ What happened, are you OK?” He panicked.

I took a deep breath before I answered him, just enough to let the pain subside. “Yeah I'm fine, it was just a kick”, I smiled as I steadied myself on the ground.

“Your ok? We can go home if you want”, he asked. I really wanted to, for some reason I didn't want to be here today. But we had no choice, he knew that deep down.

“If we go home, what do you plan on dressing your son in when he comes out? We have nothing, Kane. We need clothes, furniture, nappies and a buggy.”

“That's what online shopping is for” He looked at me with his serious glare. “Come on, let's go home!” He went to hoist me back into the jeep.

“No! We are here now, we may aswel have a look.” I didn't want it to be a wasted journey I knew he was looking forward to it just as much as I was.

“ OK, but anything else happens, we go home!” he ordered.

We had walked around a couple of shops so far, only buying a couple of outfits and a changing mat. I felt like we weren't going to find anything I really liked. Kane, on the other hand, was ready to buy every single item he set his eyes on. “

“This is it,” I said as I stood outside a massive store, Motherhood was written over the door. “This is the shop I said we would get absolutely everything.” I smiled, I had seen this online but was beginning to think it was no longer here. Thank god I found it before my body gave up.

“Let's go then!” Kane chirped, taking my hand. He walked beside me as we entered.

“This is amazing!” Kane stared down in amazement. I giggled as I sat back on the stool. The bonus of this store was the seating that was dotted around the store for all the pregnant women in here. Kane was playing with the latest pram the store had. He was amazed at the fact it had everything; a car seat, a stroller as well as a carry-cot with plenty of extras.

“You know these have been around for years, right” I whispered to him.

“How would I know that? I've never looked at a Pram in my life” He said defensively, “We are getting this one though, arent we?” He asked.

He was like a child in a toy shop, “Seeing how it has kept you occupied and quiet all this time, of course, we are buying it”, I laughed.

After Kane finished playing and speaking to one of the assistants, she wrote everything down for home delivery. She took us to the bedroom sets next, where we chose a beautiful blue and white full bedroom set. We managed to buy every single item. Kane was in his element. I think I could have left him here for a few days and he would have loved every single second of it.

We walked to a little open cafe down on the ground floor. Kane was standing at the counter ordering us food and drinks. He told me to go sit down. I think he could sense I was getting more and more tired as the day went on.

“Here you go,” Kane said, making me jump as he walked up behind me with our tray of food. “Sorry”, he whispered as he sat in front of me.

“It's OK” I smiled. “I am starving,” I said as I started digging into my burger and chips. I was only a few mouthfuls in when I got a strange feeling suddenly washed over me. I looked around, as I felt like something was off.

“You OK?” Kane asked. He looked behind him to see what I was looking at.

“Yeah, I'm OK” I lied, my wolf was on edge, pacing in my head. He was still looking at me, he knew something wasn't right. “I just feel a bit tired, that's all”, I smiled. I finished what I could of my meal and felt the sudden urge to go pee. The toilets weren't far, literally just a minute's walk. “I'm gonna head to the toilet,” I told Kane as I got up.

“You want me to walk you?” Kane asked as he was about to get up.

“No, No! You stay and eat. The toilets are only over there”, I pointed just over the way. He turned to look and nodded.

“Take your phone in case you need me” he urged, as he passed me my bag.

“What? You mean in case I can't bend down to pull my leggings back up” I smirked.

“I never said that”. He laughed, holding his hands up. He has taunted me about this since last week. I think the baby was laid the wrong way because when I got up I couldn't bend over far enough to pull up my trousers. Kane found it hilarious to start with. Well, that was until the hormones flooded my body and I burst out crying. I hadn't ever seen Kane's mood change so quickly. He went from laughing to scared and worried in a tenth of a second.

“I'll be fine, thankyou,” I told him as I left him at the table eating, Slapping his arm with my bag as I passed him. I walked into the toilets. I was surprised to see there was nobody else in here. I headed straight to the first cubicle I could find. I sat and emptied my bladder, it felt soo good, just freeing up that tiny bit of space in my belly felt like heaven.

I heard the door swing open. It was a busy shopping centre so I didn't think anything of it. I finished my business and just as I was about to leave the cubicle to go and wash my hands, the baby kicked my left rib once again. This time it hurt, more so than before. I concentrated on my breathing, trying to forget the pain. A good minute passed before I reached for the handle of the door again, my second attempt at leaving the small cubicle.

Again I was kicked in the same rib. This time I heard a crack. “Argh!” I moaned as I stepped backwards. If I stood still and didn't move he was fine, he remained still. What was wrong with him? Maybe I should ring Kane. No! I thought to myself, I can do this.

A strange feeling washed over me, it was the same strange feeling I had when I was sitting eating my food. My wolf was on guard again. I suddenly remembered someone had come in here while I was sitting on the toilet, but I hadn't heard anyone else since. “Hello?” I called out. There was no answer. Maybe they changed their mind and left? Or perhaps it was a child who opened the door. There were so many reasons for that door opening but I couldn't shake the feeling of someone else being there.

“ OK my little boy, please just keep still so I can walk back to your daddy” I whispered as I tenderly rubbed my belly.

I reached for the handle and unlatched the door, so far so good. I walked out of the stall and over to the sink, looking around everywhere for any sign of life. The room wasn't overly that big so I was happy enough nobody was in here.

I jumped as the door swung open, it was a woman scolding her young daughter for getting covered in chocolate. I watched as she came to my side and began to wash her daughter's hands. She was a young mum, she smiled at me as she grabbed a couple of tissues and began to dry the child's hands. I still felt uneasy, not so much with the young lady and her daughter in here. My wolf kept pushing me, she wanted to come through, she wanted out. She was ready to attack, but what she planned on attacking I had no idea. I grabbed a tissue and began to dry my hands as I focused on the mirror in front of me. I had a view of the whole bathroom.

The young woman walked out. I watched her leave as I dropped my tissues into the bin beside me. That's when I heard it, the tiniest sound of movement. Surely Victor wouldn't be this stupid to attack in such an open space. But we hadn't heard from him in months, he ran with his tail between his legs.

As I looked down at my bag to pick it up, I felt something that I had never felt before, it was like I was being pulled back, allowing my wolf to come out. “No, not here!” I whispered. As a host, we step back in our minds, giving our wolves the freedom to push forward. It was our consent for the wolf to take control.

I began to panic, I couldn't regain the control. She had never done this before. Something was holding me back. What was going on? My hands gripped the front of the sink as I fought the best I could to calm myself.

As if she knew what was going to happen, my eyes flicked up to look in the mirror. They were deep red, my fangs were showing, I had now lost full control of my body. My vision had changed, it was more detailed. My hands flew to my neck as if something was there, it caught rope, or what felt like a rope. I let out a growl as I twisted the rope, giving me space to twist around to the unknown perpetrator, to be met with a dirty-looking man. I headbutted him, knocking him flying backwards. I walked to him about to grab him by the throat, when I sensed something else, I whipped my head around and leaned back as I dodged the fist that was flying towards my face. Swiping with my claws, I cut open his throat in one swift motion. These were Victor's men, there was no doubt in my mind.

Kane

She had been gone for a while, my wolf began pacing back and forth, getting more and more impatient just as I was. I looked behind me as a young woman walked out of the toilet with her daughter. I stood up collecting our bags, luckily we didn't have too much as all the rest was being delivered later this afternoon. I didn't want to go check on her, making her feel like she was incapable. But I had a gut feeling to do so. I knew she was becoming annoyed with my pestering and being over-protective. I just wanted to make this pregnancy bearable for her. I hated seeing her in pain. I would take a thousand silver bullets for her.

As I walked towards the toilets, my wolf was growling, something definitely wasn't right. As I got a few feet from the door I heard the sound of growling, it wasn't me this time, it sounded like Em. I could only just make it out over the music and the streams of people walking past me. There was a sign on the door. One I didn't see earlier it read 'closed for cleaning.'

I pushed open the door and rushed inside, dropping the bags onto the floor as I did. I was ready to attack, something in here was after Em and there was only one name on my mind, Victor.

I paused to see Em standing staring at me, baring her teeth, her eyes red like blood. Her hands were dripping with blood as three lifeless bodies were laid on the floor around her. She had killed them all yet didn't seem to have a mark on her. “Em, baby, you ok?”, I reached for her, pulling her towards me.

She closed her eyes and breathed deeply. When she opened them again, I could see it was her again. She leaned over the sink and began breathing heavily. “Em speak to me!” Kane panicked.

“I'm OK” she breathed deeply. I knew she was lying to me.

I pulled out my phone dialling Ryder, he answered on the second ring.

“Missing me already,” he said as he answered.

“I need a cleanup crew at Rosewood shopping centre ground floor toilets opposite the cafe. Em's been attacked” I explained bluntly.

“What? Is she OK?” He asked suddenly, all serious.

“Yeah I think so, there are three bodies. She killed them before they did anything.”

“Thank god!" I heard him release a breath, "I mean, good on her, the girl couldn't pull her trousers up last week. This week she's all ninja. Pregnancy suits her” he jested.

“Get the cleanup crew, we are leaving here now.”

“Already on it, see you shortly,” Ryder said before the line cut.

Em began to wash the blood from her hands. I helped her as I could see she was struggling, leaning forward. Drying them for her, I could see she was in pain as each time she breathed her face contorted in pain.

“Where did they hurt you?” I asked sternly.

She shook her head. “It wasn't them” she gasped. “It was the baby, and my wolf, I think my ribs are broken”. She used her hand to hold onto the sink as the other gently held her side. The pain was bad, I could tell.

“The baby kicking again? What about your wolf? I don't understand Em, please talk to me” I asked.

I felt bad pushing her, I could see she was finding it hard to breathe, understandable if she had a broken rib. “I was in the cubicle. When I tried to walk out, the baby kept stopping me by kicking at my ribs. As silly as it sounds, I asked him to stop because we were going to you and he did. But my wolf knew we weren't alone. She pushed forward. I lost all control, I think the baby helped hold me back, he knew she was going to protect us.” She gasped as she inhaled sharply.

“It sounds bizarre, I know. But I don't know how else to describe it”, she panicked.

“How is that even possible?”
